Influencer Influencerinnen
Influencer marketing in the handicraft industry is becoming increasingly important, yet there is a lack of reliable explanations as to which factors shape perceived influence and how this influence affects the customer journey. This study addressed this research gap and used the AIDA model to examine the effect of German-speaking handicraft influencers on attention, interest, desire and purchase intention.
The aim was to test an AIDA-based explanatory approach. Trustworthiness, creativity, informational value, inspiration and political stance were analysed as potential drivers. A mediating role of perceived influence and a moderating role of age were examined.
The study followed a quantitative cross-sectional design with a standardised online survey of 273 German-speaking followers. The evaluation was conducted using a partial least squares structural equation model in SmartPLS. Age differences were examined using multi-group analysis.
Trustworthiness, creativity and informational value proved to be significant drivers of perceived influence, while inspiration and political stance were not significant in the overall model. Perceived influence acted as a mediating construct with a positive effect on attention, interest, desire and purchase intention. The AIDA sequence was confirmed. The multi-group analysis revealed age-related differences, with inspiration being more important in Generation Y and the effects of informational value and the paths from perceived influence to interest and desire being weaker in Generation Z.
Theoretically, the work proves the transferability of the AIDA frame of reference to the context of handicrafts and specifies the role of perceived influence as a mediating mechanism in this process chain. In practical terms, it provides criteria for the design of marketing collaborations between companies and influencers by prioritising trust and information signals as well as creative content and customising for specific target groups.Masterarbeit Wien, Fachhochschule des BFI Wien 202
Analysis of the location attractiveness for research and development, and the implementation of carbon dioxide removal technologies : a comparison between the United States, the European Union, and China
This master’s thesis investigates the potential of the United States, the European Union, and China in the research and development as well as the scaling of carbon dioxide removal (CDR) technologies, focusing on Direct Air Carbon Capture and Storage (DACCS), Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS), and Pyrogenic Carbon Capture and Storage (PyCCS). While CDR has faced criticism due to concerns regarding potentially delayed climate action and negative externalities, it is recognized as an essential technology to achieve the targets of the Paris Agreement. Evaluating the evaluation of political, economic, and regulatory frameworks through a policy analysis, a comparative assessment and subsequent SWOT analysis, this master’s thesis provides a comprehensive evaluation of each region’s capability to become a leader in CDR technologies. The findings indicate that the United States is best positioned to become the leader in research and development due to its extensive innovation ecosystems and strong support mechanisms, such as the Inflation Reduction Act. China demonstrates significant potential for scaling CDR technologies, leveraging on its centralized governance and expertise in scaling sustainable technologies. The European Union has established comprehensive regulatory frameworks for CDR which could be utilized as model for further CDR globally. However, its fragmented governance and slower decision-making processes remain challenging. This thesis suggests that international collaboration is required for effective and efficient implementation of CDR technologies. Although CDR offer great potential, drastic greenhouse gas emission reductions must be implemented to avoid over-reliance on CDR technologies. Policymakers must integrate CDR within broader decarbonization strategy, balancing societal needs and environmental integrity. This master’s thesis contributes to the understanding of factors, that influence the regional dynamics in the development and implementation of CDR technologies, providing insights for policymakers, private actors, and researchers, emphasizing the urgency of immediate climate action and global collaboration to utilize CDR in the most effective and efficient way.
The upcoming European Supply Chain Act will oblige companies to keep their supply and value chains free of violations of human and labour rights, to make them transparent and to not harm the environment. Probably no other industry in Austria is as affected as the automotive industry, which is known for its long and complex value chains and the large number of supplying companies. This thesis focusses on the Austrian automotive supply industry and deals with the question of which opportunities and challenges arise for Austrian suppliers to the automotive industry as a result of the European Supply Chain Act.
The first step in answering this question was to conduct a literature search analysis to provide an overview of the topic. In the second step, an online survey was conducted with a questionnaire based on the technology acceptance model, which had Austrian suppliers as a sample. The next step consisted of a descriptive analysis of the collected data to gain initial insights. In the final step of the thesis, a structural equation model, based on the technology acceptance model, was created to test the previously established hypotheses and to analyse how strong/weak relationships between variables in the technology acceptance model are. The structural equation model was created and analyzed with the software SMART PLS 4.0.
The results of the descriptive analysis and the structural equation model show that the European Supply Chain Act enables suppliers to maintain an improved and more intensive partnership and to improve their corporate image. The challenges are primarily monetary. Implementing measures for the law are often cost-intensive and represent a bureaucratic hurdle.
Wissensarbeiter Wissensarbeiterinnen
The digital transformation has profoundly reshaped the world of work and society in recent years. Artificial Intelligence (AI), particularly generative AI such as ChatGPT, plays a key role in this shift by opening new possibilities for numerous applications and further driving digital transformation. The widespread availability of these technologies has increased their use but also introduced risks, such as the uncontrolled adoption by employees, known as "Bring Your Own AI" (BYOAI).
This thesis explores how "co-intelligence" collaboration between knowledge workers and generative AI can be used productively in product development. Using a deductive approach and an online survey, the BYOAI phenomenon in companies is examined, focusing on a case study where no AI usage guidelines are in place. The study investigates whether the lack of such guidelines leads to generative AI being used in an uncontrolled and uncoordinated manner. The aim is to analyze usage patterns and frequencies, identify productivity gains, and derive recommendations for responsible AI adoption.
The findings reveal that experimental or casual use of generative AI poses significant risks to employees and organizations due to insufficient AI skills and a lack of awareness about data protection. These risks include uncontrolled data leakage, violations of corporate policies, and potential legal conflicts. At the same time, the study highlights that effective use of generative AI depends on experimentally acquired prior knowledge, enabling employees to enhance productivity through targeted AI tool usage. This knowledge includes a deep understanding of AI functionality, the ability to evaluate results within context, and confidence in adhering to data protection regulations.
The development of clear rules and behavioral guidelines can mitigate uncontrolled use and promote the strategic integration of generative AI in the workplace. The cointelligence approach emphasizes the synergy between human expertise and the technical strengths of AI, providing a foundation for productive and innovative applications in the knowledge work sector.Masterarbeit Wien, Fachhochschule des BFI Wien 202
Gamified Customer Journeys im E-Commerce : eine systematische Literaturanalyse
This master’s thesis investigates the systematic implementation of gamification elements along the customer journey in e-commerce to enhance consumer behavior. Through a systematic literature review guided by the Kitchenham method, 42 peer-reviewed studies from 2020 to 2025 were analyzed, sourced from ScienceDirect, BASE, and ACM Digital Library. The study addresses three core research questions: (1) which gamification elements are most effective in specific customer journey phases, (2) how intrinsic and extrinsic motivation are influenced by these elements, and (3) key challenges in gamification implementation.
Findings reveal that narrative and immersive elements (e.g., storytelling) optimally engage users during early customer journey phases (awareness, consideration), while progress-tracking mechanics (e.g., badges, leaderboards) strengthen retention and advocacy. Extrinsic rewards, such as discounts, drive immediate purchases, whereas intrinsic motivators like curiosity and competence dominate exploratory interactions. Social features (e.g., competitions) consistently boost engagement across all phases. Challenges include user overload, frustration, and engagement fatigue caused by repetitive gamification mechanics and excessive complexity. These challenges can be mitigated through optimized game mechanics, adaptive personalization, and user-centric design approaches that prioritize engagement without overwhelming users.
The study confirms gamification’s potential to increase engagement and purchase intent but underscores its dependency on phase-specific, motivationally aligned design. Practical recommendations include integrating gamification as a dynamic, context-sensitive tool rather than a standalone feature. For academia, future research should focus on underexplored gamification elements such as immersion and narrative-driven mechanisms, their phasespecific effectiveness along the customer journey, and the long-term psychological impact of gamification strategies on consumer behavior.
The findings contribute to a structured understanding of gamification in e-commerce, emphasizing the importance of adaptive, user-centered implementation.Masterarbeit Wien, Fachhochschule des BFI Wien 202
The generalized interest rate model
The thesis introduces a novel framework for modelling short-term interest rates across various regimes by developing a Generalized Interest Rate Model. Traditional interest rate models often fail under negative interest rate policy regimes or struggle between rate landscape transitions. To address this gap, GIRM combines two user-defined SDEs, each of which is suited for specific IR regime. The transition between regimes is governed by a smooth switching function, allowing the model to adapt to developing market conditions without the need of introducing artificial shift parameters.
Three model specifications are evaluated: Ito & Ito diffusion, Vasicek & CIR, and Hull-white & extended CIR, representing various economic interpretability. Parameter estimation is performed using the Generalized Method of Moments and the model is tested on real-world, euro area short spot rate, specifically of 3-month maturity. The results suggest that the GIRM effectively captures regime-specific behaviours, fits the data well within in-sample period and demonstrates robust out-of-sample performance. The framework accommodates for both arbitrage-free and equilibrium models, both of which are highly valued in forecasting, risk management and monetary policy analysis.
The paper is particularly relevant for risk managers and public financial institutions, offering a flexible and realistic tool for modelling interest rate dynamics in a post crisis monetary landscape.Masterarbeit Wien, Fachhochschule des BFI Wien 202
Quantitative asset allocation : a portfolio construction approach using country-specific equity ETFs
Asset allocation in portfolio management is a fundamental concept within the finance industry which focuses on the strategic allocation of investments across different asset classes in order to improve the portfolios performance and balance its risk-return profile. In the context of equities, several allocation strategies can be conducted in order to achieve optimized portfolio performance and long-term financial goals of the investor. In the field of quantitative finance several methods like modern portfolio theory (MPT) or the capital asset pricing model (CAPM) provide frameworks in order to diversify portfolios and evaluate its risk and return. Additionally, statistical tools and data-driven approaches can be implemented to so that portfolio managers and investors can identify the optimal combinations of assets in order to achieve the investments goals of the investor. Effective asset allocation requires a deep understanding of risk management, financial markets, the behavior of different assets during different market periods and also the application of quantitative model in order to achieve optimal investments outcomes.Masterarbeit Wien, Fachhochschule des BFI Wien 202
Physiotherapeuten Physiotherapeutinnen
