Age Management is an interdisciplinary approach to improving well-being and the quality of people's ageing life by integrating health, mental health, lifestyle interventions This involves medical treatments for age-related health concerns, psychological support for mental resilience, balanced nutrition to combat decline, and lifestyle changes like exercise and stress management for vitality. Challenges include customization of interventions, adherence, and staying current with research and ethics. Age management empowers graceful aging through a comprehensive approach. This approach is significant due to its potential to transform how we perceive aging, addressing challenges and opportunities in a rapidly aging world while fostering a society that supports individuals throughout their lifespan. This study explores strategies to enhance engagement and well-being among mature employees, focusing on health and aging. It also examines the advantages of using this demographic, emphasizing an employer-oriented approach to find effective personnel-policy interventions. Recognizing older individuals as valuable workforce contributors is crucial, especially in times of labour shortages. The master's thesis consists of a theoretical overview and an empirical investigation. Six qualitative interviews were conducted for valuable insights. Qualitative content analysis, following Mayring's method, was chosen for data interpretation. Key findings highlight factors influencing mature employees: retention strategies, diverse personal and professional growth opportunities, effective team dynamics and leadership, knowledge management, continuous learning, workplace design congruence, and employee well-being. These factors will be extensively discussed in later sections of this thesis.

This master thesis addresses the use of storytelling in the context of B2B SaaS startups and investigates to what extent marketing and sales managers use storytelling to influence the Buying Center during the purchasing process in the DACH region. The Buying Center refers to a group of organizational members who influence the purchasing decision. Consequently, marketers and sales managers of B2B SaaS startups face the challenge of identifying and addressing the relevant decision-makers individually. The chosen method is qualitative research, wherein semi-structured interviews were conducted and analyzed using Circular Deconstruction. The results show that storytelling plays a pivotal role in this domain by enabling companies to make complex topics accessible and establish emotional connections. The manner in which storytelling is used varies depending on the company and situation. In this regard, the quality of the content and the coherence of the story play a crucial role.Masterarbeit Wien, Fachhochschule des BFI Wien 202

Medicine faces a significant challenge as the demand for care is projected to rise due to demographic shifts caused by neurocognitive diseases. Although Artificial Intelligence presents vast potential in healthcare, its accompanying risks remain unforeseen. This Master's thesis aims to conduct qualitative, guide-supported expert interviews to explore the impact of AI-supported diagnosis and therapy options on the care needs and quality of care for individuals with neurodegenerative diseases. It seeks to address how these AI applications affect the quality of life among patient groups with Alzheimer's dementia, Parkinson's disease, and Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. The evaluation of findings indicates that while AI systems show promise in enhancing diagnostics and therapy, their efficiency within neurodegeneration remains limited due to the absence of curative therapeutic approaches. Diagnoses still require validation by physicians and are directly tied to treatment strategies. Moreover, further research and nuanced considerations of diseases and AI applications are necessary to validate the investigation's outcomes and gain deeper insights.Masterarbeit Wien, Fachhochschule des BFI Wien 202

Members of Generations Y and Z represent a new generation of employees. Even though these two generations have the potential to enrich the world of work, they pose a great challenge for managers and team leaders. Therefore, the current study aimed to better understand the preferences of generations Y and Z when choosing a future employer. The main focus was placed on the role of social skills and corporate culture. The empirical data were collected using semi-structured interviews. The sample (N = 6) included four women (66.6%) and two men (33.3%) from Austria belonging either to Generation Y or to Generation Z. Qualitative content analysis according to Mayring was performed to analyse the interview data, and the software MAXQDA 2020 was used for data management. The results of the present study suggest that members of Generations Y and Z show a preference for corporate cultures characterised by transparency and clear rules. They also seem to appreciate an open communication and good interpersonal relationships in the workplace. Furthermore, the participants stated that their social skills had a major influence on the choice of company they currently work in. Finally, the participants’ accounts indicate that a good work-life balance and opportunities for further development are very important to the young generations. Overall, the findings of this study highlight the need to consider the characteristics and preferences of Generations Y and Z in the modern business world. This appears essential in order to maintain long-lasting business relationships and to ensure that the new generations can realise their potential in the best possible way.Masterarbeit Wien, Fachhochschule des BFI Wien 202

Modeling and forecasting volatility in the gold market : an empirical study

    No full text
This master thesis evaluates the predictive accuracy of three models, the Generalized Autoregressive Conditional Heteroskedasticity (GARCH) model, the stochastic volatility model and the Heterogeneous Autoregressive Model of Realized Volatility (HAR-RV model), to estimate volatility in financial markets. The thesis uses a backtesting approach to evaluate the predictive accuracy of each model in estimating value at risk (VaR), which indicates the potential losses within a given time period at a given confidence level. The analysis explores the impact of different estimation windows, the effect of re-estimating model parameters during rolling forecasts and compares the advantages and disadvantages of the different approaches. The study concludes that the accuracy of the models is dependent on the used calibration window and longer estimation windows lead to a better result. The frequency of recalculating the model has no significant impact on its performance. The GARCH model is sensitive to the choice of the distribution used to model financial returns, where the normal distribution may not be the most appropriate choice for modelling financial returns or at least for the gold market. The accuracy of the stochastic volatility model relies on the choice of volatility forecast as it always generates a distribution instead of a single value forecast. The HARV model performs comparably to GARCH models, but lacks a persistence parameter. The study provides a comprehensive overview of the different methods for predicting volatility and makes recommendations for their practical application. The gold market was used for the investigation.Masterarbeit Wien, Fachhochschule des BFI Wien 202

The home office work style is most valuable change on working process after world-COVID-19 pandemic crises. Many companies are facing the issue to bring those employees back to the office. The goal of this master thesis is the analysis on the measurement value of employee willingness to work in the office and the influencing factors that can affect employee willingness to work in the office. In addition to already known influencing factors, the research focusses on the question, is there a significant impact of the energy costs as a new influencing factor on the decision of employees for work in the office. Subsequently, the aim of this master thesis is to develop an exemplary model based on the previously conducted studies, which can estimate and predict the impact of factors influencing the decision for office work. A potential correlation between the influencing factors and contribution of age, gender and the company size as population background variables will be evaluated as well. The practical value of this model is to help companies to make predictions for office occupation more accurately and to develop strategies of the employee return to the office. At the end, it gives recommendations for companies how to plan and to optimize facility management costs.Masterarbeit Wien, Fachhochschule des BFI Wien 202

Hybrides Onboarding : Handlungsempfehlungen für österreichische Konzernstandorte für ein erfolgreiches, hybrides Onboarding

    No full text
The change of technologies, new industrial epochs as well as the Covid-19 pandemic have strongly driven the digitalization of the business world within the last years. Due to the accompanying increased use of telecommuting, hybrid work in particular has emerged as the predominant working model within Austria as well. In the course of this new turn in the business world, the challenges of successfully introducing new employees to the company have also intensified. So-called hybrid onboarding, where a mixture of onsite and remote onboarding is experienced, has numerous advantages, such as an improved work-life balance. However, both employees and employers recognize risks such as low job satisfaction due to social isolation, limited face-to-face communication, and lack of support as well as low employee engagement and accompanying high early turnover rates. By conducting interviews together with human resources experts, this master thesis aims to find out what constitutes successful hybrid onboarding and which recommendations for action can lead to higher success rates.Masterarbeit Wien, Fachhochschule des BFI Wien 202
