    No full text
With the rapidly advancing digital transformation in recent years, new working time models and digital forms of work have emerged. Changes can also be observed in public administration concerning the management and motivation of employees. This research work aims to investigate the effects of leadership style on the motivation of employees in order to derive resulting recommendations for action. For this purpose, a survey was conducted among employees of public administration. The results of the survey were evaluated variance-based structural equation modelling using partial least squares (PLS) path modelling method. The analysis found that the encouragement and support of employees should be the essential goal of managers in public administrations. The autonomy of employees should be promoted so that there is intrinsic motivation. With transformational leadership, managers should understand and get to know their employees as well as possible to find common ground. The common ground provides opportunities for authentic conversations and lays the groundwork for building a real relationship.Masterarbeit Wien, Fachhochschule des BFI Wien 202

The progress of digitalization causes a major impact on the world of work and is also contributing to an increase of atypical employment relationships, which can deviate from traditional two-dimensional employment relationships due to their complexity and flexibility. In this context, the spread of the platform work, as modern form of employment, has strongly increased in the European area since 2005. Studies analyse this rapid increase of platform work and often also look at the working conditions of the platform workers. Platform economy is a phenomenon of the digital world, in which supply and demand are brought together, on an on-demand basis, by interacting through a digital platform. In this context, platform work is characterized by a triangular relationship between the platform, the platform worker, and the client. Due to the increased flexibility, platform work seems to be an attractive form of employment for employers as well as for employees. Nevertheless, platform work is also linked to insecurities regarding the social security of platform workers and risks, which may occur according to poor working conditions. Due to the different legal situation of platform workers in regards of traditional employment relationship the working conditions of platform workers often remain unclear. This thesis focuses on the classification of platform workers in reference to the Austrian and German labour law. In addition, reference is made to the European definition of employees, which is specifically formed by the case law of the European Court of Justice. Afterwards this definition is compared to the legal definitions of employees in the Austrian and German labour law. The thesis also examines the future legislative projects of the European Union and how they could have an impact on platform work.Masterarbeit Wien, Fachhochschule des BFI Wien 202

    Kandidaten Kandidatinnen

Finding suitable employees is one of the major challenges for companies in human resource management. The current shortage of skilled workers makes it increasingly difficult for companies in Austria to cover the need for personnel. Suitable candidates for vacancies in companies are often not actively looking for a new job and classic recruiting methods are therefore no longer sufficient to fulfill the business needs. Performance recruiting could be a promising approach to solve this problem and to also reach passive candidates, who are not active jobseekers. Candidates are targeted and contacted through online advertisements via social media. The goal of this thesis was to find out how a campaign based on the performance recruiting approach has to be designed in order to attract potential candidates. To answer the research question, seven people who stated that they had already seen a performance-recruitingadvertisement were asked about their experiences, wishes and opinions towards performance recruiting advertisements using semi-standardized interviews. It was found that the title and a brief description of the activities and tasks of the job is the most important information that candidates want to see when looking at a job advertisement on social media. Realistic and transparent salary information also seems extremely important, as well as information about the requested qualifications for the position, job benefits, and the location of the company. Images and short videos play a major role in the visual design of the advertisement, as they are highly memorable and have a big impact on how a job advertisement is perceived. Participants described social media job advertisements as modern and unconventional and also emphasized these characteristics positively compared to a “classic” job advertisement. Information about a job presented in a performance recruiting campaign should be honest, credible, brief and straight to the point. Overall, it can be stated that performance recruiting job advertisements are perceived positively by the viewers and that a fresh and unconventional “outside-the-box”- approach should be chosen in the design.

In recent decades, there has been a growing emphasis on achieving a better work-lifebalance. Its importance for social, scientific, but also political matters is increasing. One reason for this is the constant change in society. More and more women are pursuing a career. As a result, both men and women are confronted with changed life structures. The rising aspiration to harmonize responsibilities between work, household, and family has led to a heightened demand for a healthy work-life-balance. Therefore, many organizations are progressively focusing on family-friendly measures and programs aimed at improving the work-life-balance of their employees and promoting the compatibility of work and life. Indeed, home office presents itself as a potential measure to address these challenges. The completion of work from home makes it possible to organize everyday tasks of working persons in a more flexible way. The progressive digitization has made remote work an indispensable element of today's professional life. However, it was only through the outbreak of the Covid19- pandemic that this trend advanced at an unprecedented pace. More and more people were compelled to adapt their way of working and embrace remote work from home. The pandemic served as a driving force, significantly accelerating the home office trend. Virtual technologies and digital communication tools enabled individuals to seamlessly continue their work from home while efficiently interacting with colleagues and clients. This change was far-reaching and will continue to have a significant impact on the future of work. The aim of the research of this master thesis is to investigate how the increased home office placements affect the work-life-balance of employees in Austria. To establish a clear framework for this thesis and to address the research questions, key terms such as home office and work-life-balance were defined and explained based on relevant literature. The thesis delved into previously published scientific research and studies related to the topic. This literature review provided a foundation for the quantitative study conducted through a questionnaire to 128 employees working in Austria, where their experiences and perspectives with home office were examined. The main question was to find out how working in a home office is perceived by the participants and how this way of working influences certain aspects of work-life-balance. The results show that in general, there is a broad approval of the home office among employees who use it. Many participants tend to have positive experiences with working at home in Austria. The findings indicate that the home office constitutes a significant component of the contemporary work environment and serves as a tool for enhancing work-life-balance. Certain individual aspects, such as motivation, job satisfaction, or physical well-being, are closely tied to the utilization of the home office. However, working from home can also lead to negative effects on the work routine. For certain individuals, it may be challenging to separate work from leisure, and the lack of social interaction in the office could potentially lead to feelings of isolation.

    No full text
The initial efforts of the Austrian legislator to simplify the law on limited liability companies, or make them more attractive, were made a long time ago now. In Austria, reforms to the law governing corporations have generally been implemented very hesitantly in recent years, while other European legal systems have, in some cases, implemented far-reaching reforms. However, the 2020–2024 government programme "Aus Verantwortung für Österreich" (Out of responsibility for Austria) now intends for a new form of corporation called the "Austrian Limited" to be created in Austria, based on international examples. The primary goal is to increase Austria's attractiveness as a place to found a business and as a business location for foreign investors. This master's thesis focuses on the reliefs and alleviations associated with founding a business and raising capital, and employee participation. The aim of this thesis is to elaborate the advantages and disadvantages of the establishment of the Austrian Limited form of company in Austria. In addition, it discusses the possible need for reform of company forms, especially in order to promote the start-up scene.

    No full text
To achieve a high collection and recycling rate, this master thesis is concerned with the circular economy of plastic packaging and the establishment of a beverage deposit system in Austria, due to the determined regulation, which was set by the European Union to reach until 2025 respectively 2030. In the beginning, the theoretical background of this work is explained in detail. The waste sector, as well as the directives and measurements comprised therein within the EU, are presented, in addition to other aspects. Key points which are sequentially outlined are the European recycling rate, the circular economy, the plastic packaging of beverages, the Austrian waste management, and the refundable deposit system, whereby five countries have been described in more detail: Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Finland, and the Netherlands. For the environment and society, packaging made of plastic is a problem because of the use of substances and the consumption of many resources in its production. In fact, such negative effects towards the environment, combined with the modifications made by the EU to the Waste Directive for plastics, prompted the establishment for the introduction of a beverage deposit system. The plan involves a method of recycling by charging the so-called refundable deposit for particular packages, an incentive that also encourages the beverage to be returned and subsequently recycled or recovered. Contrary to Austria, many countries, such as the five described in this master thesis, already have an effective and successful system. As a result, those countries have high collection and recycling rates. A sales perspective was obtained through an interview survey. Furthermore, the opinion of Austrian consumers in regard to the adoption of a returnable beverage deposit system was enabled through an online survey. Information drawn from the surveys as well as the theoretical background concerned with the EU directives ensure clear results in terms of the success of a beverage deposit system in Austria. Especially questions about plastic packaging of beverages were addressed in this inquiry. Participants were asked about their opinions, consumption patterns, packaging types and factors, including whether a deposit system would contribute towards waste reduction in Austria. The collected results of the survey are clearly defined by statistics. By contrast with the theoretical part, in this case this information accurately reflects the opinion of the population. A comparison is made on this foundation between the literary information and data collected in the survey itself. As mentioned above this master thesis is concerned with how Austria can reach the EU recycling target by 2025 respectively 2030. Survey results suggest that Austrian citizens are especially interested in the conservation of the environment. Furthermore, in countries with successful recycling- and collection rates, deposit systems for beverages have been proven to be particularly effective. Accordingly, certain factors can be used to promote the introduction of a deposit system for beverages in Austria. Consequently, the survey results indicated that respondents are in favor of the implementation of a deposit system in Austria. Subsequently, the findings of this study suggest that the combined efforts of Austrian citizens in regard to support and use of the deposit system and additional factors, such as easy, clear instructions of use and more involvement from politicians, could lead to a successful implementation of a deposit system and the achievement of the set EU recycling target. Nonetheless, further studies are required to determine the effectiveness of the deposit system in Austria.Masterarbeit Wien, Fachhochschule des BFI Wien 202

Best-Practice-Analyse von Nachhaltigkeitsinitiativen internationaler Kulturbetriebe – als Grundlage zur Erarbeitung strategischer Nachhaltigkeitskonzepte im Kulturbereich - am Beispiel Salzburger Festspiele

    No full text
