Mitigating financial risks in PPP projects : a comparative analysis of payment and contract types in Slovakia and the Czech Republic

    No full text
This Master's thesis examines how Public Private Partnership contract types and payment mechanisms are designed to mitigate financial risks, focusing on the D4 motorway and R7 expressway road infrastructure project in Slovakia (D4/R7) and the D4 motorway PPP project in the Czech Republic. In particular, it examines the differences between the Czech Republic's multi-currency system (EUR/CZK) and Slovakia's single currency system (EUR) using semi-structured interviews with subject matter experts in addition to traditional desk research and comparative analysis of concession agreements. The results show that different financing strategies as a result of different economic circumstances and national currencies in these countries result in project-specific characteristics and have an impact on whether and how currency risk is managed and on risk-sharing methods. These findings suggest that stakeholder alignment, contract structure and currency stability all have a significant impact on financial risk management in PPP projects. According to the study's findings, implementing tailored risk mitigation techniques that are adapted to the macroeconomic conditions of each project enhances financial resilience and provides best practices for PPPs in different currency regimes.

    No full text
In recent years, Austrian start-ups have experienced a significant increase in investments, paving the way for rapid international growth and offering many opportunities, such as increased revenue potential. Despite these prospects, Austrian start-ups expanding their business activities to international markets still face numerous challenges which can hinder the success of internationalization or even lead to the failure of the overall expansion project. This master's thesis aims to provide actionable recommendations to support Austrian start-up founders and employees as they plan their first expansion into international markets. Using a research approach that includes reviewing existing literature and conducting and analyzing interviews with six representatives of four Austrian startups (Finmatics GmbH, GoStudent GmbH, LottaCurls GmbH, and TeamAzing GmbH) who have been part of their internationalization projects, this thesis aims to identify the motivations that drove their expansion and the challenges they encountered. Additionally, it seeks to assess factors that facilitated their expansions. The study shows that Austrian start-ups are motivated by the opportunities of expanding abroad, particularly the potential for increased profits and business growth. However, these efforts are often accompanied by challenges, including linguistic, cultural, and legal barriers. Leveraging digital business models, establishing strong networks and partnerships, and seeking support from organizations such as the Austrian Business Service (AWS) have been identified as critical factors for successful internationalization.Masterarbeit Wien, Fachhochschule des BFI Wien 202

Einfluss des transformationalen Führungsstils auf Leistung, Motivation und Innovationskraft : Analyse spezifischer Verhaltensweisen und Variablen

This thesis examines the influence of the transformational leadership style on the performance, the motivation, and the innovative strength of employees and teams. The main focus is on the analysis of specific behaviors, “transformational competencies” of leaders, that have particularly positive effects on these variables. In addition, this thesis examines the moderating role of individual characteristics such as age, gender, and work experience, in order to better understand the needs of different groups of people in relation to transformational leadership competencies. The empirical basis of this study consists of a quantitative survey conducted via an online questionnaire. The survey, designed based on theoretical findings, was completed anonymously by the participants. The statistical analysis of the collected data, including regression analyses, correlation analyses and t-tests, helps to identify key relationships. By testing and analyzing hypotheses that have been formulated based on the relevant literature, the study provides valuable insights into which transformational leadership competencies are most effective at improving motivation, performance, and innovation. Additionally, the study examines, which demographic groups have the greatest need for these specific transformational competencies. The study helps Austrian organizations in creating strategies to improve leadership competencies and fills a gap in the leadership literature. The results of correlation- and regression analysis show that the transformational competency “effective communication” has a strong positive correlation with employee motivation and innovation. Other competencies also correlate with motivation, performance, and innovation, but these were not statistically confirmed in the regression analysis. Additionally, women show a greater need for the competency “influence by example” than men, while employees with more experience tend to need it less. Overall, employees see room for improvement in all transformational competencies. An investment in the further development of transformational leadership skills is recommended on the basis of the research results. Leaders should focus on understanding and addressing the individual needs of their employees, regardless of their demographic background, to achieve the best possible performance.

    No full text
This thesis examines the impact of the European Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive regarding decent working conditions along the chain of activities. Therefore, the economic context is analysed and a comparison is made between the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive and the proposal for the Directive . The main part addresses the issue of human rights, focusing on decent working conditions. Existing standards are examined to determine whether they already provide sufficient regulation for the protection of human rights and decent working conditions. An analysis has shown that criticism of the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive highlights both positive aspects, as an important step towards the protection of human rights, and weaknesses, which relate to the fact that the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive has too limited a regulatory scope and that its effectiveness ultimately depends on compliance monitoring.Masterarbeit Wien, Fachhochschule des BFI Wien 202

Potenzialanalyse „Customer Journey“ mit und für den Bonner Hebammenladen

    No full text
