The future of work in pharmaceutical product supply : a transformation merging digital technologies, biomedical modalities and regulatory cooperation
This master's thesis provides a medium-term outlook on the future of work in the area of product supply for global pharmaceutical companies, which is of great importance for the supply of medication to billions of people. The legally regulated area is under strong pressure to change due to digital technologies, artificial intelligence and novel forms of biomedical therapy.
Despite the importance of this industrial sector, the author is not aware of any empirical studies on the future working reality in pharmaceutical product supply. To close the research gap, two research questions focus on how technological, digital and scientific innovations are changing traditional work processes and what skills and competencies employees will need in the future. Another research question examines the relationship between the pharmaceutical industry and regulatory authorities when it comes to technological innovations.
Methodologically, quantitative and qualitative data are collected. Pharma executives answer an online questionnaire and give semi-structured interviews. The transcriptions are evaluated using qualitative data analysis.
The results show which trends will shape the future of work in pharmaceutical product supply. Processes are digitized and documented paperless, artificial intelligence supports idea generation, data analysis, planning and decision-making, biomedical modalities are establishing themselves with new types of product provision. The expansion of digital infrastructure must be implemented as quickly as possible.
In the future working world, employees will have direct access to data at work. Their job profiles include digital, process control and scientific skills. Manual tasks are eliminated through automation, while the reduction of hierarchical levels reduces middle management. Data specialists and retraining provide the required qualifications. Relations with regulatory authorities have normalized following the coronavirus pandemic. In a few countries they are developing into closer cooperation.
The limited empirical basis does not allow generalization. Attractive research fields are opening up with other pharmaceutical companies and digitalized industries as well as generative artificial intelligence.Masterarbeit Wien, Fachhochschule des BFI Wien 202
IBU, ABV und BMC - Die digitale Transformation von Bierjurys : eine Untersuchung zur Weiterentwicklung des Geschäftsmodells im Zeitalter der Digitalisierung
Beer juries are currently facing a number of changes in their environment. Added to this is digitalisation, which can be seen as both a challenge and a potential for beer juries.
The aim of this thesis is to contribute to the understanding and significance of the topic of digital transformation for beer juries and to develop recommendations for action for organisers of beer competitions on future necessary adjustments to their own business model in order to successfully meet the challenges identified.
Methodologically, the thesis uses literature research and expert interviews. Organisers of beer juries and responsible persons from breweries (as customers of the beer competitions) are interviewed in order to gain different perspectives on the business model of beer juries.
As a result of the research and the qualitative interviews, it can be stated that digitalisation offers a range of potential for innovation in the business model of beer juries, which has a positive influence above all on the infrastructure, the processes, the value proposition, the channels used to interact with the breweries and the level of costs. This means that the challenges of beer competitions can be successfully overcome.
With the business model variants ‘process digitalisation’, ‘digital evaluation’, ‘digital promotion’ and ‘digital platform’, four different forms of a future business model were identified and outlined accordingly in a business model canvas. Practical manifestations of the models are also shown.

Nowadays offboarding processes require similar attention to that of onboarding processes since the idea of employees staying in one position long-term is becoming less realistic. In that context, a negative offboarding experience can lead to detrimental consequences for organizations. This thesis therefore aims to examine how to design offboarding processes that ensure a positive offboarding experience for exiting employees. A particular emphasis is put on how supervisors can shape the offboarding experience of employees. The empirical research uses a qualitative research design, conducting eight qualitative interviews with HR, supervisors and former employees. The results show that a structured offboarding process characterized by appreciation as well as recognition is key for fostering a positive offboarding experience. Furthermore, the results indicate that the offboarding experience is significantly affected by the involvement and behaviour of supervisors. The findings therefore suggest that organizations, and especially supervisors, should be aware of their power to influence the offboarding experience.Masterarbeit Wien, Fachhochschule des BFI Wien 202
Recruiter Recruiterinnen
Artificial Intelligence is known as a powerful tool in Human Resource Management, especially when it comes to the support in Recruitment. Although this topic has gained a lot of popularity over last years, the development in Austria is still in early stages. The purpose of this study is to explore the current maturity level of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the recruitment process of austrian companies. More specifically, this research aims to analyze future possibilities to use AI throughout the hiring process, identify chances and limitations and provide an overview about the model of AI maturity.
In order to achieve this objective, a two-step approach has been applied. The first step consists of a comprehensive literature review to explain the basic concepts of AI and recruitment. Additionally, steps within the recruitment process have been described and the potential use of AI tools outlined. To finalize the first step, various AI maturity models have been compared and one of the models selected as a baseline for the next step. The second step covers an empirical study, including a survey with employees involved in the recruitment process to support a quantitative approach. Data was collected from a diverse sample of recruiters and HR professionals across different industries and branches in Austria.
The study presents the following findings in the field of AI in recruitment. It can be summarized that there is no correlation between the size of a company and the usage of AI. However, it shows that there is a stronger focus on AI in companies within IT or service industry companies. It also shows that currently, the most AI supported process step is the creation and posting of job ads. Moreover, practitioners currently tend to use Chatbots as the most common AI tool. The findings also demonstrate the coherence of technology affinity and the AI maturity level. In conclusion, this study offers a comprehensive understanding of the role of AI in recruitment and contributes to the existing theoretical knowledge in providing more insights about the Status Quo of AI usage within austrian companies.

The present Master's thesis addresses the topic of ESG fraud (Environmental, Social, Governance fraud) at a time when the relevance of ESG criteria in the business world is significantly increasing.
ESG fraud refers to fraudulent practices where companies deliberately misrepresent their sustainability performance to meet regulatory requirements, attract investors, or gain a competitive advantage. This topic is of growing importance, as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) will increasingly bring ESG criteria into focus in the coming years, posing new challenges for companies. The thesis examines how the risk of ESG fraud can be mitigated in Austrian companies by using the Fraud Triangle—comprising pressure, opportunity, and rationalization—as an analytical tool to identify the causes of fraud. Additionally, the "capabilities" dimension from the Fraud Diamond is integrated to account for the specific skills and knowledge of perpetrators. The theoretical part demonstrates that ESG fraud can be facilitated by increasing regulatory pressure, inadequate internal control systems, and a lack of standardization in ESG reporting. Empirical research, based on qualitative expert interviews, confirms the effectiveness of the Fraud Triangle in analyzing ESG fraud while highlighting the growing importance of perpetrator capabilities. Proposed preventive measures include improving internal control systems, implementing whistleblowing mechanisms, standardizing ESG reporting, and fostering an ethical corporate culture. These strategies aim to reduce ESG fraud and enhance trust in ESG reports and sustainable business models. This thesis makes an early and significant contribution to the study of ESG fraud in a field that is expected to gain importance due to new regulatory requirements and rising societal expectations in the coming years. It outlines practical approaches to minimizing ESG fraud and provides a foundation for future studies on this critical topic in sustainable corporate governance.Masterarbeit Wien, Fachhochschule des BFI Wien 202
