Macroeconomic Indicators and Pakistan’s Banking Industry’s Shock Absorbing Capacity: A Case Study of Conventional and Islamic Banks
The capacity of conventional and Islamic banks, operating in Pakistan, to absorb macroeconomic shocks is compared in this study. The study examines data from ten conventional and four Islamic banks from 2007Q1 to 2018Q4. The macroeconomic uncertainty is the volatility of inflation, interest rate, and output/GDP measured through GARCH (1,1). All macroeconomic variables have a significant impact on the performance of Conventional Banks (CB) which is shown by the panel estimation results, but in Islamic Banking (IB) only the rate of interest has a considerable impact on its performance; indicating a competitive relationship between the two banking systems. Furthermore, shock-absorbing models reveal that the volatility of the three macroeconomic factors does not affect the volatility of Islamic banks. The conventional banks\u27 volatility model, on the other hand, shows that production volatility has a considerable positive impact on conventional bank volatility, implying that the conventional banking system is more vulnerable to economic uncertainty
Impact of Ambient Aroma on Consumer Impulse Buying Behaviour with Moderating Effect of Gender
Retailers are nowadays searching for methods to differentiate their offerings by providing a pleasant and stimulating ambience for shopping. Therefore, the existing study aims to inspect in what way the ambient scent influences the shopper\u27s mood, cognition, and spending with gender as a moderator and arousal as a mediator in retail stores. The hypothesized associations are inspected through covariance analysis using both online and offline store-intercept data congregated from consumers. Based on the analysis, results indicate that ambient scent influences product quality, store environment, and customer arousal, but has no impact on pleasure. On the other side, the store environment influences product quality, customer emotional arousal, and pleasure. In addition, product quality does not influence customer emotional arousal and pleasure. Furthermore, customer emotional arousal influences emotional pleasure. Likewise, customer emotional pleasure influences customer approach behaviour and customer impulse buying behaviour. Moreover, arousal mediates the ambient scent-customer pleasure relationship. Gender moderates the link between ambient scent and store environment and product quality only for males is stronger as compared to females. Similarly, gender moderates from emotional pleasure to impulse buying and approach behaviour only for the male model. Henceforth, implications for the management of shopping malls/superstores and future endeavours for research about music as a component of the mall/store environment are deliberated based on the study results

This study aimed to examine how student morality was affected by parents’ expectations and the emphasis was on moral disengagement and academic dishonesty. The study further demonstrated the mediating role of frustration intolerance between parental expectations and students’ morality. A sample of students was chosen from various educational institutions (colleges and universities) in the Attock and Wah Cantt districts. For data collection, the researchers used four reliable scales namely, Living up Parental Expectations Inventory (LPEI), Frustration Discomfort Scale (FDS), Moral Disengagement Scale (MDS) and Academic Dishonesty Scale (ADQ). The findings from the research showed that students striving to live according to their parent’s expectations, students frequently indulge in moral disengagement and academic dishonesty. The findings additionally indicated that male students exhibited a greater degree of moral disengagement and academic dishonesty than female students furthermore frustration intolerance partially mediates the relationship between parents’ expectations and the moral behaviour of learners. The study findings suggest that to promote and fortify ethical actions in students, parents\u27 desire needs to be handled effectively. By considering the impact of the pressure of parental expectations on moral disengagement and academic dishonesty, parents and educationists can organise collective efforts to create a supportive atmosphere to encourage integrity and honesty among students in academic settings
