The efficacy of motor imagery additional to task-oriented training for children with developmental coordination disorder: a study protocol for a randomized open-label controlled trial
Randomized controlled trial[Abstract] Background: Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) affects school-age children and interferes with the practice of their daily activities. Task-oriented work and motor imagery have shown great efficacy in addressing this problem.
Objective: This study presents a protocol that seeks to understand the effectiveness of a combined program of both modalities on the motor competence of children susceptible to the presence of DCD.
Desing: Randomised controlled trial.
Methods: The participants are children susceptible to the presence of DCD (from 6 to 12 years old) distributed into an intervention group that received a total of 20 protocol sessions and a control group that continued with their usual school routine
The Registry Qualification of Judicial Documents and its Influence on the Determination of the Procedural Capacity of the Unclaimed Inheritance (A Round Trip through DGRN/DGSJFP Doctrine)
18 LH y 100 RH). Partiendo de la tradicional jurisprudencia en la materia, se analiza el divergente periplo evolutivo de la doctrina registral hasta que dicha disidencia se transforma en anuencia con la Sentencia 9/9/2021 del Pleno de la Sala 1ª del TS, todo ello a fin de averiguar en qué medida la calificación registral de los documentos judiciales influye en la determinación de la capacidad procesal de herencia yacente.[Abstract]: Pursuant to articles 6.1.4 and 7.5 of the LEC, the unclaimed inheritance has the capacity to be a defendant, but not to appear in court on its own behalf, which generates a great deal of uncertainty when third parties seek the judicial satisfaction of their rights, being the potential heirs unknown or uncertain. The present work attempts to clear up the uncertainty surrounding the integration of the procedural capacity of the unclaimed inheritance, but analysing this classic problem from the perspective provided by the involvement of mortgage legislation (arts. 18 LH and 100 RH). Starting from the traditional case law on the subject, the divergent evolutionary journey of the registry doctrine is analysed until this dissidence is transformed into agreement with the Ruling of 9/9/2021 of the Plenary of the 1st Chamber of the Supreme Court, all with the aim of finding out to how the registry qualification of the judicial documents influences on the determination of the procedural capacity of the unclaimed inheritance
A diachronic approach to the gestation of confiar as a verb of transference
Perceptions of key informant neurologists before implementing anti-amyloid drugs in the Spanish departments of neurology
[Abstract]
Background: A deep knowledge of the healthcare system and the organization of neurology departments is important for planning and optimizing changes to facilitate the successful implementation of anti-amyloid antibodies treatments.
Objective: We aimed to assess the necessary changes prior to introducing these therapies in our setting.
Methods: We conducted a key informant survey among heads of departments of neurology from 16 hospitals in Spain. The questionnaire comprised questions about changes in the organization and functioning of the departments of neurology with the introduction of anti-amyloid drugs, changes in diagnosis and patient care, use of diagnostic techniques, patients, families and public information, resources allocation, and research.
Results: Sixteen key informants completed the survey. They strongly agreed that the introduction of anti-amyloid drugs will impact the functioning of neurology services, especially in hospitals with dementia units. Consensus was reached regarding referring all Alzheimer's disease patients eligible for therapy to dementia units. There was also agreement on the need to expand the neurology services, day hospital units, extend visit durations, and hire more professionals, especially neurologists, neuropsychologists, and nuclear medicine physicians. Furthermore, consensus was achieved on increasing the use of MRI, amyloid PET, cerebrospinal fluid biomarkers, APOE genotyping, and the necessity of advancing blood biomarkers and tau tracers.
Conclusions: Our study highlights the need for extensive changes within Spanish neurological departments to effectively integrate anti-amyloid antibodies. Implementing these changes is essential for the timely and equitable adoption of novel therapies. The author(s) disclosed receipt of the following financial support for the research, authorship, and/or publication of this article: Jordi A Matias-Guiu is supported by Instituto de Salud Carlos III through the projects INT20/00079 and INT23/00017 (co-funded by European Regional Development Fund “A way to make Europe”). A simple pseudo-Compact tension (pCT) test apparatus to determine the mode I fracture toughness
Financiado para publicación en acceso aberto: Universidade da Coruña/CISUG[Abstract:] We introduce a simplified pseudo-compact tension (pCT) test apparatus, specifically designed to accurately determine the mode I fracture toughness (KIC) under direct tension conditions for rocks and other geomaterials. The device is compatible with conventional multipurpose loading frames typically available in many geomechanics laboratories. The mechanical behavior of the designed apparatus and the accuracy of the KIC determinations have been assessed through a 3D finite element model elaborated with ABAQUS and experimentally validated using aluminum and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) specimens under digital image correlation (DIC) examination technique. Results confirm the good performance of the new pCT apparatus, since it provides sufficient stiffness while yielding KIC values consistent with the reference pCT apparatus. Both devices measured an average KIC value of 1.80MPa m1/2 for PMMA specimens. This new device provides a cost-effective entry to the versatile pCT fracture toughness testing methodology, ensuring accurate and reproducible test results. The authors kindly acknowledge the constructive comments of anonymous reviewers, as well as from the editor, Dr. Yong Yan, which have helped to significantly improve this work. Steel Slag Sub-Ballast for Sustainable Railway Track Infrastructure
[Abstract:] Railway lines require a significant amount of natural raw materials. Industrial by-products can be used instead, reducing the costs of natural aggregate exploration. This work analyzes a ballasted track’s short- and long-term performances when replacing conventional sub-ballast aggregate with steel slag. After an extensive laboratory characterization of the steel slag, the material performance was analyzed in a 3D numerical model of a ballasted track when included in a railway track. An empirical model was implemented and calibrated to predict the long-term permanent deformation induced in the track after many train passages. The results are compared with the allowable deformation limits required for conventional high-speed ballasted track railway lines. An additional analysis was conducted to assess the influence of steel slags on the critical speed of conventional railway tracks when used. The results show a residual impact on the critical speed value compared to the conventional sub-ballast made with natural aggregates. This work received funding by the Portuguese Science and Technology Foundation through the scholarships with reference [SFRH/BD/07370/2021] “https://doi.org/10.54499/2021.07370.BD (accessed on 30 June 2024)” and [CEECIND/04583/2017/CP1399/CT0003] “https://doi.org/10.54499/CEECIND/04583/2017/CP1399/CT0003 (accessed on 30 June 2024)”. A case of abdominal internal hernia through the foramen of Winslow in a pediatric emergency departmen
Actualmente se encuentra en seguimiento en consultas externas de cirugía pediátrica[Abstract] Abdominal internal hernia is a rare cause of intestinal obstruction in pediatric emergency departments, being the herniation through the foramen of Winslow an exceptional entity (less than 0.5% of the herniae). We report the case of a 15-year-old adolescent male without previous surgical interventions who presented with abdominal pain and vomiting; computed tomography scans showed intestinal obstruction due to an internal hernia through the foramen of Winslow. To reduce the herniated ileum, the patient required surgical intervention with diagnostic laparoscopy, which, due to bad visualization, was changed to supraumbilical midline laparotomy. There was no need to resect the affected ileum as it appeared healthy. We did not perform a preventive technique to reduce the risk of recurrence. Postoperative pelvic collection was conservatively managed with antibiotics. The patient undergoes regular follow-up in the pediatric surgery department
