EFFECTS OF CRUDE OIL PROPERTIES ON DEHYDRATION EQUIPMENT SELECTION
The present study addresses all facets of equipment sizing and an efficient, safe and environmentally acceptable crude oil dehydration operation based on three different equipments. The liquid-liquid separator, heater-treater system and electrostatic coalescer equipments will be considered in this work. Case studies present the effect of crude oil properties and operating conditions on the right decision on equipment selected. The selection is based on mathematical equations that characterize the choices of the separation system through the determination of the required size and efficiency. The results of this study show that the liquid-liquid separator is suitable for dehydration of light crude oil density (less than 850 kg/m3) and low water-cut (water content) (less than 40%) crudes since it gives reasonable efficiency. The heater-treater system is found to be giving high efficiency. Furthermore the study concludes that the electrostatic coalescer is most suitably used for dehydration of crude oil with water cut 20% or less because short circuiting occurs above this limit; In this case the electrostatic coalescer gives the highest efficiency with the lowest size requirement

TechniquesABSTRACT: This paper discusses the technique of casting concrete of Micropiles with pressures and the consequence of
comparisons with normal way of casting concrete (casting with gravity). Preliminary geotechnical studies have been made in
specific area in Sudan to predict the soil parameters, and then an experimental work has been done for an estimated number of
Micropiles with different diameters and different techniques of placing concrete with various amount of pressure. This study was
carried out to learn the usefulness of this technique in the field of structural foundations in Sudan. Capacities of Micropiles were
compared in cases of non-pressure casting (normal way of casting concrete) and pressure casting. Through the results, it was
found that the entry of pressure factor in the operation of casting concrete increases the capacities of Micropiles. The increased
value of ultimate load depends on the amount of pressure applied

GEOTECHNICAL PROPERTIES OF LATERITIC SOILS FROM MUGLAD BASIN
LOCATED IN THE SOUTH – WESTERN PART OF SUDAN.This paper reports geotechnical properties of lateritic soils within the area of Muglad basin
located within South Kordofan state in Republic of Sudan such as sieve analysis,
consistency, compaction, California bearing ratio (CBR) for such type of soils to evaluate its
suitability in embankments and road construction projects within this area. Lateritic soils
are highly weathered and altered residual soils formed by the in-situ weathering and/or
decomposition of rocks in the tropical and sub-tropical regions with hot, humid climatic
conditions. The soil samples were taken at prescribed locations within the investigated
area and the results obtained for the aforementioned soil testing experiments showed
that the lateritic soils can be used in number of engineering application among which
roads, earth embankment and as building materials

Comparison of Numerical and Analytical Methods of Analysis of TunnelsThis paper aims to enumerate the methods used in tunnels analysis and construction procedures,
demonstrate and evaluate the use of PLAXIS 3D tunnel program through a comparison with analytical method.
Two methods (analytical and numerical) have been used to obtain the solution of tunnel analysis. A case study
was performed for London Transport Fleet Line, located in Green Park and consists of a single tunnel.
The analytical solution carried out using the Bobet method, whereas the numerical accomplished by finite
element PLAXIS program. Two different process of numerical analysis were conducted; with and without
respect to construction process.
The settlements at the tunnel center for the analytical, numerical without respect to construction and observed
were found 7.9, 5.72 and 6.1 mm
