Thermodynamic study on the magnetic transition and structural phase transition in [(CH3)(2)NH2][Na0.5Fe0.5(HCOO)(3)] by using the Landau phenomenological model

    No full text
In this study, we apply the Landau phenomenological model to describe magnetic transition and structural phase transition in a metal formate framework (MOF) of the ferromagnetic [(CH3)(2)NH2][Na0:5Fe0:5(HCOO)(3)], namely, DMNaFe. By using the observed data from the literature for the magnetization, the excess heat capacity (Delta CP), and the dielectric constant (e), we predict some thermodynamic quantities as a function of temperature close to the magnetic transition (T-M 1/4 8:5K) and structural (T-c 1/4 170:8 K) phase transition in [(CH3)(2)NH2][Na0:5Fe0:5(HCOO)(3)]. The thermodynamic quantities predicted from the Landau mean field model indicate that the multiferroics and ferromagnetic [(CH3)(2)NH2][Na0:5Fe0:5(HCOO)(3)]) undergo a weakly first order (or nearly second order) magnetic transition. Structural phase transition in [(CH3)2NH2][Na0:5Fe0:5(HCOO)(3)] is of a first order, as observed experimentally. The thermodynamic model studied here describes the observed behavior in most cases of [(CH3)(2)NH2][Na0:5Fe0:5(HCOO)(3)], and it can be applied to some other MOFs

    No full text
From 1310.6 x 10(6) J/psi and 448.1 x 10(6) psi (3686) events collected with the BESIII experiment, we report the first observation of Sigma(+) and (Sigma) over bar (-) spin polarization in e(+)e(-) -> J/psi[psi(3686)] -> Sigma(+)(Sigma) over bar (-) decays. The relative phases of the form factors Delta Phi have been measured to be (-15.5 +/- 0.7 +/- 0.5)degrees and (21.7 +/- 4.0 +/- 0.8)degrees with J/psi and psi(3686) data, respectively. The nonzero value of Delta Phi allows for a direct and simultaneous measurement of the decay asymmetry parameters of Sigma(+)-> p pi(0) (alpha(0) = -0.998 +/- 0.037 +/- 0.009) and (Sigma) over bar (-)-> (p) over bar pi(0) ((alpha) over bar (0) = 0.990 +/- 0.037 +/- 0.011), the latter value being determined for the first time. The average decay asymmetry, (alpha(0 )- (alpha) over bar (0))/2, is calculated to be -0.994 +/- 0.004 +/- 0.002. The CP asymmetry A(CP,Sigma) = (alpha(0) + (alpha) over bar (0))/(alpha(0) - (alpha) over bar (0)) = -0.004 +/- 0.037 +/- 0.010 is extracted for the first time, and is found to be consistent with CP conservation

Measurement of the absolute branching fraction of the inclusive decay Lambda c+-> KS0X: (BESIII Collaboration)

    No full text
We report the first measurement of the absolute branching fraction of the inclusive decay Lambda c+-> KS0X. The analysis is performed using an e+e- collision data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 567 pb-1 taken at s = 4.6 GeV with the BESIII detector. Using eleven Cabibbo-favored Lambda c- decay modes and the double-tag technique, this absolute branching fraction is measured to be B(Lambda c+-> KS0X)=(9.9 +/- 0.6 +/- 0.4)%, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The relative deviation between the branching fractions for the inclusive decay and the observed exclusive decays is (18.7 +/- 8.3)%, which indicates that there may be some unobserved decay modes with a neutron or excited baryons in the final state

Chemical Castration as an Evolving Concept: Is It a Possible Solution for Sexual Offences?

    No full text
As growing criminal offences, sexual offences defined by any sexual behavior lacking clear consent, creates significant morbidity, psychiatric comorbidities, adjustment disorders and mortality worldwide. Criminal laws vary between countries while use of chemical castration methods such as hormonal therapies or surgical castration techniques has been implemented in multiple states and countries while number of countries implemented castration methods have increased rapidly in recent years. Despite such trend no comprehensive randomized controlled trial or meta-analysis study has been performed yet. Additionally, multiple ethical questions arise regarding such castration techniques in sexual offenders. In this study our aim is to demonstrate efficiency and possible adverse effects of hormonal and surgical castration techniques, variations among countries and states, and ethical issues

Comparative Cost Assessment of Cold Storage Plants and Natural Storage Structures for Potato

    No full text
The use of a cold storage plant for reducing perishable food losses is insufficient in developing and underdeveloped countries because of required infrastructure and investments. For this reason, many producers continue to store foods with traditional methods, which can lead to considerable food loss. At this point, the relationship between the financial loss due to perishable foods and the costs of cold storage plant (construction, refrigeration equipment, operating) should be evaluated. In this study, the profitability of both the modern cold storage plant and the traditional potato warehouse in Turkey were compared with the data collected from a potato producer and an experienced refrigeration company. The subject is handled with the Monte Carlo simulation method. The results show that a modern cold storage plant provides a return on investment in a short time. Probability of profitability for a cold storage plant is 51.0%, 74.8%, 89.7% and 96.6% for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th years, respectively

    Study of e(+)e(-) -> D+D-pi(+)pi(-) at center-of-mass energies from 4.36 to 4.60 GeV

    No full text
We report a study of the e(+)e(-) -> D+D-pi(+)pi(-) process using e(+)e(-) collision data samples with an integrated luminosity of 2.5 fb(-1) at center-of-mass energies from 4.36 to 4.60 GeV, collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage ring. The D1(2420)+ is observed in the D+pi(+)pi(-) mass spectrum. The mass and width of the D-1(2420)+ are measured to be (2427.2 +/- 1.0(stat).+/- 1.2(syst).) MeV/c(2) and (23.2 +/- 2.3(stat). +/- 2.3(syst).) MeV, respectively. In addition, the Born cross sections of the e(+)e(-) -> D-1(2420)D-+(-) + c.c. -> D+D-pi(+)pi(-) and e(+)e(-) -> psi(3770)pi(+)pi(-) -> D+D-pi(+)pi(-) processes are measured as a function of the center-of-mass energy. RPINBASE: An online toolbox to extract features for predicting RNA-protein interactions

    No full text
Feature extraction is one of the most important preprocessing steps in predicting the interactions between RNAs and proteins by applying machine learning approaches. Despite many efforts in this area, still, no suitable structural feature extraction tool has been designed. Therefore, an online toolbox, named RPINBASE which can be applied to different scopes of biological applications, is introduced in this paper. This toolbox employs efficient nested queries that enhance the speed of the requests and produces desired features in the form of positive and negative samples. To show the capabilities of the proposed toolbox, the developed toolbox was investigated in the aptamer design problem, and the obtained results are discussed. RPINBASE is an online toolbox and is accessible at http://rpinbase.com

    No full text
Estimation of the wind speed plays an important role in many issues such as route determination of ships, efficient use of wind roses, and correct planning of agricultural activities. In this study, wind velocity estimation is calculated using artificial neural networks (ANN) and adaptive artificial neural fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) methods. The data required for estimation was obtained from the float named E1M3A, which is a float inside the POSEIDON float system. The proposed ANN is a Nonlinear Auto Regressive with External Input (NARX) type of artificial neural network with 3 layers, 50 neurons, 6 inputs and 1 output. The ANFIS system introduced is a fuzzy inference system with 6 inputs, 1 output, and 3 membership functions (MF) per input. The proposed systems were trained to make wind speed estimates after 3 hours and the data obtained were obtained and the successes of the systems were revealed by comparing the obtained values with real measurements. Mean Squarred Error (MSE) and the regression between the predictions and expected values (R) were used to evaluate the success of the estimation values obtained from the systems. According to estimation results, ANN achieved 2.19 MSE and 0.897 R values in training, 2.88 MSE and 0.866 R values in validation, and 2.93 MSE and 0.857 R values in testing. ANFIS method has obtained 0.31634 MSE and 0.99 R values. © 2020 IEEE
