    A SWARA-VAHP and FCM Based Model Proposal for MCIC (extended abstract)

    ABC analysis is an efficient and easy-to-use methodology to classify inventory based on a single or multi-criteria basis that may consist of thousands of items. The evolution of the subject is now focused on multiple criteria instead of a single criteria. The proposed approach to the multi-criteria inventory classification (MCIC) problem integrates improved version of Stepwise Weight Assessment Ratio Analysis and Voting Analytic Hierarch Process (SWARA-VAHP) and Fuzzy-C-Means. This new approach is called AHP-SWARA-FCM-RVeto and proposed in this study for the first time. The proposed model integrates SWARA-VAHP which is an improved version of AHP. By using SWARA-VAHP, minimum information from experts will be sufficient. Also incorporating FCM will allow users to make clustering based on figures but also gives the flexibility to assign members between different clusters by using membership values. A real life example is used to show the application of the proposed model. In the real-life example, the main advantage of compliance with the Pareto principle of the proposed method is shown

    Measurement of e(+)e(-)-> K+K-pi(0) Cross Section and Observation of a Resonant Structure

    Based on e(+)e(-) collision data collected by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider at center-of-mass energies from 2.000 to 3.080 GeV, a partial-wave analysis is performed for the process e(+)e(-)-> K+K-pi(0). The Born cross section of the process e(+)e(-)-> K+K-pi(0) and its subprocesses e(+)e(-)-> phi pi(0), K*+(892)K- and K2*+(1430)K- are measured. The results for e(+)e(-)-> K+K-pi(0) and phi pi(0) are consistent with the BaBar measurements and with improved precision. By analyzing the cross sections of the subprocesses e(+)e(-)-> K*+(892)K- and K2*+(1430)K-, a structure with mass M-R = (2190 +/- 19 +/- 37) MeV/c(2) and width Gamma(R) = (191 +/- 28 +/- 60) MeV is observed with a combined statistical significance of 7.1 sigma. The measured resonance parameters suggest it can be identified as the phi(2170), thus the results provide valuable input to understand the internal nature of this state

    The Impact of Alternative Theater Stages on Public Spaces within the Context of Publicness in Kadikoy

    This study defines a theoretical frame that associates the concept of the public sphere as a significant component of public life with the concept of public space based on the common ground of publicness. The concepts of 'publicness' and the 'public sphere', which are used in an explanatory manner for forming common life, also reach beyond this in their consideration of social life as a socialization environment. These issues were discussed based on different approaches. Considering a basic definition of the public sphere as a discussion environment, an argument is made that this discussion environment is supported by the production of ideas. Newly-formed theater environment might have a positive role to reinforce to publicness as previous studies shows. Considering that, the conceptual and spatial aspects of publicness, as presented in this field study concerning alternative stages in Kadikoy, Istanbul, were reviewed through four typologically different theater cases. This study evaluated alternative stages' interaction with the public space based on observations, spatial analysis and in-depth interviews with theater artists. It was observed that theater stages either directly or indirectly interact with public spaces. Besides, artists' perspectives can determine and impact both the spatial uses of theaters and social relationships with neighborhood residents. Holistically reviewing all relevant components within this context and using theaters as a case study, this article points out that theaters as sociocultural spaces are a feature in publicness on diverse layer of urban life

    Women's narratives inhibiting scopophilic and voyeuristic views: woman as the saviour in contemporary Turkish women's films

    This study discusses the current Turkish women's cinema through the films, Mavi Dalga (2013, Blue Wave) and lse Yarar Bir Sey (2017, Something Useful) by exploring the definitions of women's cinema. This article aims to examine the point of women's films in contemporary Turkish cinema by referring to the previous discussions on women's cinema and addressing the portrayal of women in films that fall under women's films. The films Mavi Dalga and lse Yarar Bir Sey, depict women as the saviour and as active, self-sufficient, economically independent, not dependent on men, and following their wishes instead of becoming passive, harmonious, and stuck in the narrow patterns of life in this world, although they want to get rid of the practices of the male world. These films define the woman as a vital, independent, helpful subject in solidarity with her fellows discussed by Smelik's definition of women's cinema. The films comply with Johnston's claims that women are included in the narrative of women's films by the audience. Moreover, these films identify with the main character, and they stand at an essential point in Turkish cinema with their independent and powerful depiction of women

    Reducing eating disorders risk in Turkish female university students using cognitive behavioural theory: A randomized controlled feasibility trial

    No prevention program targeting female university students at risk for eating disorders (EDs) is currently available in Turkey. Accordingly, this study investigated the feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary efficacy of a new cognitive behavioural theory based prevention program designed to reduce the risk of developing EDs. 38 female university students who were randomised to either to 6 sessions Healthy Eating Attitudes and Behaviours Group Program (experimental condition) or one of the two control conditions (single session workshop vs. wait-list) participated in the study. EDs symptoms and risk factors were measured at baseline, post-assessment, and 1-month follow-up. Feasibility and acceptability were measured with a feedback form at the post-assessment time point. The experimental condition resulted in significantly higher reductions in EDs behaviours, body dissatisfaction, emotion regulation difficulties and internalization of thin/low body fat ideal with the high level of effect size compared with control conditions. The attendance rate and satisfaction with the program were high. Preliminary data suggested that the Healthy Eating Attitudes and Behaviours Group Program is feasible and acceptable, and appears promising in reducing EDs symptoms and risk factors in Turkish female university students. Findings also provided the groundwork for future clinical trials aiming to reduce EDs risk in this population. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature

    Üniversite Öğrencilerinin Cinsel Mitler/Cinsel Saldırı Mitlerine İlişkin Tutumları ve Görüşleri

    Amaç: Çalışma, bir vakıf üniversitesinde okuyan üniversite öğrencilerinin cinsel mitler/cinsel saldırı mitlerine ilişkin görüş ve tutumlarını araştırmak amacıyla yapılmıştır. Yöntem: Araştırma tanımlayıcı tiptedir. Mühendislik-mimarlık fakültesi, fen-edebiyat fakültesi ve sağlık bilimleri yüksekokulu (SBYO) hemşirelik bölümünde eğitim gören 140 öğrenci örneklemi oluşturmuştur. Veri toplama araçları iki bölümden oluşmakta olup birinci bölümde sosyodemografik özellikler ve cinsellik ile ilgili sorular; ikinci bölümde araştırmacılar tarafından literatür doğrultusunda oluşturulan cinsel mitler ve cinsel saldırı mitleri ile ilgili 15 mit bulunmaktadır. Bulgular: Çalışmaya katılan öğrencilerin yaş ortalaması 21,98±1,70 olup %48,6’sı (n=68) kadın, %51,4’ü erkektir. %32,1’i (n=45) SBYO hemşirelik bölümünde, %25,7’si (n=36) mühendislik-mimarlık fakültesindeki bölümlerde, %42,1’i (n=59) fen-edebiyat fakültesindeki bölümlerde eğitim almaktadır. Öğrencilerin en fazla iletişim araçlarından (%44,2) cinsellik ile ilgili bilgileri aldıkları, %48,6’sının (n=68) evlenmeden önceki cinsel ilişki hakkındaki düşüncesinin olumsuz olduğu görüldü. Erkeklerin, hemşirelik bölümü ve mühendislik-mimarlık fakültesi öğrencilerinin ve evlenmeden önce cinsel ilişki hakkında olumsuz görüşü olanların bazı cinsel mit/cinsel saldırı mitlerine anlamlı düzeyde daha çok katıldıkları sonucuna ulaşıldı. Sonuç: Üniversite öğrencileri arasında düşük oranda da olsa söz konusu mitleri doğru kabul edenler bulunmaktadır. Bu durum, toplumsal cinsiyet rolleri, kısıtlayıcı kültürel normlar ve eğitim sisteminde cinsel saldırı ve cinsellikle ilgili eğitim ve bilgilendirmelerin yetersizliğinden kaynaklanabilir. Eğitim ve öğretim sisteminin şekillendirilmesi, üniversite öğrencilerine cinsel mitler ve cinsel saldırı mitleri ile ilgili farkındalık kazandırarak öğrencilerin doğru bilgileri edinmesine ve içselleştirmesine fayda sağlayacaktır

    Cross section measurements of the processes e(+)e(-) -> omega pi(0) and omega eta at center-of-mass energies between 3.773 and 4.701 GeV

    The Born cross sections of the processes e(+)e(-) -> omega pi(0) and e(+)e(-) -> omega eta are measured at center-of-mass energies between 3.773 and 4.701 GeV using a total integrated luminosity of 22.7 fb(-1) collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider. A simple s(-n) dependence for the continuum process can describe the measured Born cross sections. No significant contributions from the psi(4160), Y(4230), Y(4360), psi(4415), Y(4660) resonances are found, which indicates relative small branching fractions for these resonances into the omega pi(0) and omega eta final states

    Breast Cancer Subtypes and Prognosis: Answers to Subgroup Classification Questions, Identifying the Worst Subgroup in Our Single-Center Series

    Purpose: Many studies report the triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) as the worst subgroup, as such patients do not benefit from anti-hormonal therapy and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) antagonists. While HER2 overexpression was a poor prognostic factor in breast cancer before trastuzumab (Herceptin) was available, TNBC is often reported as the worst BC subgroup since targeted therapy is currently not possible. Since the patience-specific experiences and the current literature did not always align, we aimed to determine the BC subgroup with the shortest survival in our center. Methods: The records of patients with BC who were admitted to Trakya University Faculty of Medicine Department of Medical and Radiation Oncology between July 1999 and December 2019 were reviewed. Patients were divided into four main groups (Luminal A, Luminal B, TNBC, and HER2-enriched) according to the St Gallen International Consensus Panel and four subgroups in accordance with estrogen receptor, progestin receptor and HER2 positivity. Patient characteristics, treatment characteristics and clinical outcomes of the four main subgroups were evaluated. Survival curves were generated using the Kaplan–Meier method, and the significance of survival differences among the selected variables was compared by using the Log rank test. Factors affecting disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS) were analyzed by Cox regression analysis. Results: Statistical analysis was performed on 2017 patients, after excluding patients with phyllodes tumor, carcinoma-in-situ and missing information from a total of 2474 patients with BC. There were 952 (47.1%) patients in the Luminal A group, 236 (34.1%) in the Luminal B group, 236 (11.7%) in the TNBC group and 142 (7.1%) patients in the HER2 enriched group. HER2-enriched patients had the shortest survival (p < 0.001), with 113.70 ± 7.17 months of DFS and 125.45 ± 3.03 months of OS. For patients who received Herceptin, DFS was 101.50 ± 6.4 months and OS was 118.14 ± 6.16. Patients who did not receive Herceptin had 92.79 ± 18 months of DFS and 94.44 ± 15.23 months of OS. Conclusion: The HER2-enriched subgroup had the worst prognosis despite receiving targeted therapy. While the duration of DFS and OS had no significant difference between TNBC and Luminal A-B subgroups, HER2 enriched subgroup had significantly shorter survival when compared to any other subgroup. HER2-enriched subgroup had a 10-fold greater risk of death compared to the Luminal A subgroup. © 2022 Cosar et al

    Observation of the double Dalitz decay eta' -> e(+)e(-)e(+)e(-)

    Based on (10087±44)×106 J/ψ events collected with the BESIII detector at BEPCII, the double Dalitz decay η′→e+e-e+e-is observed for the first time via the J/ψ→γη′ decay process. The significance is found to be 5.7σ with systematic uncertainties taken into consideration. Its branching fraction is determined to be B(η′→e+e-e+e-)=(4.5±1.0(stat)±0.5(sys))×10-6. © 2022 authors.     A Novel Hybrid House Price Prediction Model

    The real estate sector is evolving and changing rapidly with the increase in housing demand, and new luxury housing projects appear every day. The reliability of housing market investments is largely dependent on accurate pricing.The aim of this study is to introduce a dynamic pricing procedure that estimates house prices using the most important characteristics of a house. For this purpose, a hybrid algorithm using linear regression, clustering analysis, nearest neighbor classification and Support Vector Regression (SVR) method is proposed. Our hybrid algorithm involves using the output of one method as the input of another method for home price prediction to deal with the heteroscedastic nature of the housing data. In other words, the aim of this study is to present a hybrid algorithm that will create different housing clusters from the available data set, classify the houses to which the cluster is unknown, and make price predictions by creating separate prediction models for each class. Housing data collected through manual web scraping of Kadikoy district in Istanbul were used for training and validation of the proposed algorithm. In addition to these data, we validated our algorithm on the KAGGLE house dataset, which covers a wide range of features. The results of the hybrid algorithm were compared using multiple linear regression, Lasso, ridge regression, Support Vector Regression (SVR), AdaBoost, decision tree, random forest and XGBoost regression. Experimental results show that the proposed hybrid model is superior in terms of both Residual Mean Square Error (RMSE), Mean Absolute Value Percent Error (MAPE) and adjusted Rsquare measures for both Kadikoy and KAGGLE housing dataset
