Stereological Study on the Effect of Carnosine on of Purkinje Cells in the Cerebellum of Rats Exposed to 900 MHz Electromagnetic Field

    No full text
AIM: To evaluate the impact of carnosine on Purkinje neurons in rats exposed to a 900 Mhz electromagnetic field. MATERIAL and METHODS: This study evaluated 24 rats divided into the following three different groups: a control group, a group exposed to the electromagnetic field, and a group that was injected with carnosine while being exposed to the electromagnetic field. The electromagnetic field group was exposed to a 900 Mhz electromagnetic field for an hour daily over 28 days. Thereafter, stereological analysis was performed histologically on cerebellar sections, and the number of Purkinje cells were counted. RESULTS: The electromagnetic field group had remarkably fewer Purkinje cell compared to control. The electromagnetic field group plus 20 mg of carnosine had significantly more total Purkinje cells compared to the electromagnetic field group (p<0.05). CONCLUSION: The present study showed that electromagnetic field exposure decreases the number of Purkinje cell, whereas carnosine protected the cerebellum from neural damage induced by electromagnetic field exposure

2D Vector Representation of Binomial Hierarchical Tree Items

    No full text
Today Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms need to represent different kinds of input items in numeric or vector format. Some input data can easily be transformed to numeric or vector format but the structure of some special data prevents direct and easy transformation. For instance, we can represent air condition using humidity, pressure, and temperature values with a vector that has three features and we can understand the similarity of two different air measurements using cosine-similarity of two vectors. But if we are dealing with a general ontology tree, which has elements "entity"as the root element, its two children "living things"and "non-living things"as first- level elements repeatedly children of "living things"that are "Animals", "Plants"as second level elements, it is harder to represent this kind of data with numeric values. The ontology tree starts from the general items and goes to specific items. If we want to represent an element of this tree with a vector; how can it be possible? And if we want the measured similarity using some methods like cosine-similarity, which one similarity is higher, ("Animal"and "non-living thing") or ("Animal"and "Living thing")? How should we select the values of this vector for each item of the hierarchical tree? In this paper, we propose an original and basic idea to represent the hierarchical tree items with 2D vectors and in the proposed method the cosine-similarity metric works for measuring the semantic similarity of represented items at the same level as parent items. There are two important results related to our representation: (1) The "y"values of the items give the hierarchical level of the item. (2) For the same level items, the cosine similarities between the parent item and child items are higher if the child belongs to this parent compared to other childrens'. In other words, the cosine similarity between the parent item and child items is highest if the child belongs to this parent. © 2022 IEEE

!e New Silk Roads: !e Present and Future of the World

In !e New Silk Roads, Peter Frankopan, Professor of Global History at Oxford University, defines the notion of Silk Roads as a network of globalization in which people, cultures and continents interact. !is conceptualization provides an understanding of the spread of religions and languages throughout history. !e kind of globalization Silk Roads represent allows us to comprehend history as a whole, not in pieces, by emphasizing the bigger picture of the interactions between actors throughout the territory of Silk Roads. Frankopan connects the past, present and future of the Silk Roads; he argues that the notion explains the proliferation of actors and other entities like walnut trees throughout history, earning Silk Roads the nickname ‘gene corridors’

Does Experimental Morphine Addiction in Rats Change Physiological and Histological Characteristics of the Heart?

    No full text
Aim: Morphine is one of the most preferred opioids in treatment of chronic pain. Recurrent use can cause addiction. There is no consensus on cardiovascular system treatment/side effects of opioids. In order to investigate effects of opioid addiction on heart, myocardial contractility/histological changes were investigated in rats via experimental morphine addiction/withdr awal. Materials and Methods: 32 adult male Wistar albino rats used for study, which was officially completed on 28-05-2021, were divided into Control(C), Morphine(M), Morphine+Naloxone(MN) groups randomly. In GroupC 10mg/kg 0.9% NaCl solution, in GroupM-MN 10mg/kg morphine were administered subcutaneously for 7 days. After the last administration of morphine, 3mg/kg NaCl was given to GroupC-M, 3mg/kg naloxone was given to GroupMN intraperitoneally. Signs of morphine withdrawal were observed for 30 minutes and scored. 3-4mm strips of atria were hung in isolated organ bath chambers. Tension was adjusted to 2g. Adrenaline-induced contractions (0.001M) were observed. Changes in tension were recorded. SAS University Edition 9.4 program was used for statistical analysi s. Results: Morphine withdrawal behaviours were observed in GroupMN. There was no statistically significant difference between atrial contractility tension values of GroupC-M-MN(p>0.05). Pre-adrenaline tension values were higher in GroupM-MN than in GroupC. But the greatest contraction increase between 15minutes before/after adrenaline-induced data was in GroupC. Conclusion: Morphine addiction/withdrawal didn’t cause inotropic/chronotropic changes. No histological differences were observed in mast cells. These results may constitute a positive resource for the heart for systems analysis in morphine addicts

Numerical analysis of a novel silicone sole-based passive orthosis for home gait rehabilitation training

    No full text
Drop foot syndrome is a neuromuscular disease characterized by weakness of the muscles in the front of the lower leg. This disease can cause partial or complete loss of control over the foot and affects the ability to lift the foot from the ankle. Orthoses are used to help improve the gait of patients with limited control over the foot muscles. The most important advantages of passive orthoses are that they are light and inexpensive. Thermoplastic materials are generally preferred in lower extremity orthoses due to their high strength and elasticity. The novelty of this study was to examine the mechanical behavior of the proposed passive orthosis at different weight forces. It was observed that displacement, stress and strain values increased with the increase of weight force and vibration frequency. Consequently, Polypropylene-based orthosis was accepted as the ideal design material as it exhibits higher elastic behavior than Polyetherimide and Polylactic Acid-based orthoses. Consequently, this study enables researchers a useful reference on passive orthosis parameters such as modeling, material behavior, shape control, geometry, and size optimization for key biomechanical engineering applications

The flavor changing neutral current (FCNC) transitionsof the charmed baryonΛþcare of great interest since theycan provide indications for physics beyond the StandardModel (SM). In the framework of the SM, FCNC tran-sitions are strongly suppressed by the Glashow, Iliopoulosand Maiani mechanism[1]in the charm sector. The SMpredictions for the branching fractions (BFs) of FCNCdecays in the charm sector are less than10−9[2]. Theminimal supersymmetric SM with R-parity violation[3]and the two-Higgs-doublet model[4]predict the BFs of thesame FCNC decays to be two to three orders of magnitudelarge

Implementation of Socket Programming Simulation Using Quantum Communication Technologies

    No full text
Using socket programming, which plays a major role in the communication between devices and people, data is transmitted instantly over predetermined ports. By the evolution of technology, the size of the data is increasing due to the increase in the quality of the data. As a result, there are losses and delays in data transfers. According to the research, it is assumed that applications and systems to be developed using quantum technologies will be useful in solving these problems. In this study, firstly information was given about the mechanism in classical socket programming and the problems encountered in this mechanism. Then, by giving information about quantum communication and the methods used in this communication, the quantum solutions to these problems were examined, the application was coded in the quantum programming language and the communication between two ports with quantum socket programming was simulated. The results obtained from this simulation was compared with the classically obtained results. Communication simulation between sockets was performed using teleportation and super-dense coding in quantum computers. © 2022 IEEE

On the psychodigital components of cyber traumatization and dissociation: A psychosocial depiction of cyber societies as dissociogenic

    No full text
Digital communication networks can be told to have accelerated the psychosocial change and transformation in today’s societies to a large extent. With all their unique rules and mobile communication styles, it is almost inevitable to be a member of these cyber societies. These digitalized communication networks and technology-based mediums of communication enable individuals to undergo significant transformations on a psycho-sociopolitical base and normalize dissociation by revealing new human profiles that differ considerably in comparison to those in the recent past. Such dissociative experiences, in particular “cyber dissociation” which bridges the gap between clinical dissociation and actual life dissociation refer to the transformation of absolute reality into its cyber counterpart, are the consequence of part-time identity transitions between actual life and cyber life. The prolonged use of cyber identities eventually turns into a psychodigital “cyber alter personality”. In this paper, we aim to explain the basic components of cyber dissociation as a clinical picture as well as discuss its psychosocial dynamics in a comprehensive way mentioning novel notions specific to the aforementioned digitalized picture. Child-rearing styles, communal tendencies as well as individual processes in regard to cyber traumatization, identities and dissociation have been explained and discussed with reference to traditional mediums of communication and classifications of clinical pictures
