Efficient Deployment of Wireless Sensor Nodes with Evolutionary Approaches
In previous WSN studies, it was observed that there are two common methods used in coverage area calculation: 1) image processing technique or 2) mathematical formulas. calculation of the coverage area, if the sensing ranges of the mobile nodes intersect (overlap) each other, the processing time increases while the calculation result is wrong. In this study, a new method is proposed to calculate the coverage area with relatively high accuracy, including the overlap conditions, but in a shorter time. In this method, the points that were placed as targets to be tracked in the Region of Interest (ROI) in the previous studies are now used in a different way. All covered points by any node are counted to calculate the area. However, in this case, the number of points placed in the area should be much higher than in the previous cases. Coverage performance is calculated by counting the points covered by the WSN nodes and dividing them by the total number of points defined initially. (Coverage rate) First of all, to decide the experiment's initial conditions, 57 different cases were simulated. Different number of sensor nodes with different radii (25, 50, 100, 200) was considered and then the average of the error rate of all cases was calculated. The lowest error value was obtained in the case of the 2000×2000 area. Therefore, an area of 2000×2000 was preferred in the next steps. It can be concluded that, this method is a promising method to calculate the coverage rate in WSNs. © 2022 IEEE
One of the Intellectuals of the Early Republican Era: Mediha Esenel (Berkes)
In this essay biography of Mediha Esenel (Berkes), one of the scientists of the early Turkish republican era and her works in the area of social sciences are addressed. Esenel was active in the circles of Yurt ye Dunya [Homeland and the World] periodical and in 1940s she was one of the scientists specifically emphasizing the universal values in the social sciences. In the second half of 1940s she was detached from the scientific researches due to "being labelled as a communist" and began to engage in translation works. She wrote books for the elementary schools. In none of her translations we can see her name as the translator. In sociology, especially in rural sociology, her works were among the firsts. Besides, contributions of Esenel on the method to study in gender and social sciences are extremely important
Study of psi(3686) -> Lambda(Lambda)over-bar omega
Based on a data sample of (448.1 +/- 2.9) x 10(6) psi(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, the branching fraction of psi(3686) -> Lambda(Lambda) over bar omega is measured to be (3.30 +/- 0.34(stat) +/- 0.29(syst)) x 10(-5) for the first time. When uncertainty is regarded as a surprise and an event in the minds, it can be said that individuals can change the future view. Market, financial, operational, social, environmental, institutional and humanitarian risks and uncertainties are the inherent realities of the modern world. Life is suffused with randomness and volatility; everything momentous that occurs in the illustrious sweep of history, or in our individual lives, is an outcome of uncertainty. An important implication of such uncertainty is the financial instability engendered to the victims of different sorts of perils. This chapter is intended to explore big data analytics as a comprehensive technique for processing large amounts of data to uncover insights. Several techniques before big data analytics like financial econometrics and optimization models have been used. Therefore, initially these techniques are mentioned. Measurement of the e(+)e(-) -> Sigma(0)(Sigma)over-bar(0) cross sections at center-of-mass energies from 2.3864 to 3.0200 GeV
The Born cross sections of e(+)e(-) -> Sigma(0)(Sigma) over bar (0) are measured at center-of-mass energies from 2.3864 to 3.0200 GeV using data samples with an integrated luminosity of 328.5 pb(-1) collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider. The analysis makes use of a novel reconstruction method for energies near production threshold, while a single-tag method is employed at other center-of-mass energies. The measured cross sections are consistent with earlier results from BaBar, with a substantially improved precision. The cross-section lineshape can be well described by a perturbative QCD-driven energy function. In addition, the effective form factors of the Sigma(0) baryon are determined. The results provide precise experimental input for testing various theoretical predictions. (C) 2022 The Author(s). Published by Elsevier B.V
Gene therapy in haemophilia: literature review and regional perspectives for Turkey
Haemophilia is an X-linked lifelong congenital bleeding disorder that is caused by insufficient levels of factor VIII (FVIII; haemophilia A) or factor IX (FIX; haemophilia B) and characterized by spontaneous and trauma-related bleeding episodes. The cornerstone of the treatment, factor replacement, constitutes several difficulties, including frequent injections due to the short half-life of recombinant factors, intravenous administration and the risk of inhibitor development. While extended half-life factors and subcutaneous novel molecules enhanced the quality of life, initial successes with gene therapy offer a significant hope for cure. Although adeno-associated viral (AAV)-based gene therapy is one of the most emerging approaches for treatment of haemophilia, there are still challenges in vector immunogenicity, potency and efficacy, genotoxicity and persistence. As the approval for the first gene therapy product is coming closer, eligibility criteria for patient selection, multidisciplinary approach for optimal delivery and follow-up and development of new pricing policies and reimbursement models should be concerned. Therefore, this review addresses the unmet needs of current haemophilia treatment and explains the rationale and principles of gene therapy. Limitations and challenges are discussed from a global and national perspective and recommendations are provided to adopt the gene therapies faster and more sufficient for the haemophilia patients in developing countries like Turkey. © The Author(s), 2022

The increasing processing power of computers and the decrease in production costs have allowed the development of virtual reality technology. Thus, there has been an increase in the use of virtual reality in many fields, from education to the military. With the transition to online education due to the pandemic in 2020, the need for an education method where students and educators can interact with each other has arisen. With the increase in the integration of virtual reality applications in studies from the past to the present, user experiences have also increased. With the increasing user experience, the fields of use in education cover different education levels, from primary education to university. In this study, various virtual reality applications applied in education were examined, and the use of virtual reality technology in education, its benefits, and its contributions to student performance were discussed. A Sentiment Analysis of Turkish Tweets Shared in Nursing Week During the Pandemic
Aim: This study aimed to conduct an artificial intelligence-based sentiment analysis of Turkish tweets about nursing during the nursing week during the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: This is a retrospective descriptive survey. Between May 4 and May 19, 2021, Turkish tweets were analyzed using the Python library Tweepy. The search terms “nurse, nursing, and nursing week” were used to analyzed tweets for their positivity, neutrality, or negativity. Results: The analysis of 24,944 tweets revealed that tweets frequently express neutral emotions. The negative tweets frequently discussed issues such as societal gender perception, professionalism, burnout during the pandemic, salaries, inadequate nursing workforce, inequalities, violence against healthcare professionals, and the deaths of nurses. Conclusions: Social media applications can be recommended as important tools for raising awareness of the nursing profession identity, professionalism, visibility, and the perception of society towards nursing, nursing problems, and recommendations for solutions
Hanımın Çiftliği üçlemesinde anlatı katmanı olarak hayaller
Orhan Kemal’in Vukuat Var, Hanımın Çiftliği ve Kaçak adlı romanlarından oluşan “Hanımın Çiftliği” üçlemesi, dönemin sosyal ve siyasi dönüşümlerine toplumcu gerçekçi bir bakışla yaklaşır. Kente eklemlenen ancak dâhil olmayan mahallelerde yaşayan, fabrikalarda çalışan yeni bir sınıfın insanları yani işçiler ve aileleri ile toprak ağaları tarafından sömürülen köylüler, sorunlarına, koşullarına ve yaşam tutumlarına eleştirel bir bakışla odaklanılan sınıflardır. Mezkûr eserlerin önemli özellikleri arasında, aslında toplumcu gerçekçi bir perspektifle odağa alınan işçiler ve köylülerin idealize edilmemeleri, bu sınıflara mensup olan roman kişilerinin insan hakikatlerinin korunması yer alır. Bu noktada romanlarda dikkat çeken bir özellik göze çarpar; işçiler ve köylüler aslında hayatta kalmakta ama yaşamamaktadır ancak bu insanların emekleri patronları ve ağaları yaşatmaktadır. İşçilerin ve köylülerin bu durumdan duydukları rahatsızlık belirgindir ancak bu rahatsızlık örgütlü ve bilinçli bir hak mücadelesine dönüşmez. Onların, bu mücadeleyi vermek yerine, özünü sınıf değiştirmek olarak özetleyebileceğimiz bir talih dönüşümünü hayal ettikleri görülür. Hayaller, romanlarda âdeta gerçekliğin koşutu sayılabilecek bir anlatı katmanı oluşturur. Kişilerin iç dünyalarını ve örtük eleştirel tonu daha derinlikli kavramanın imkânını sunan, bu hayaller katmanıdır. Hayaller ile insanların dâhil oldukları sosyoekonomik sınıflar arasındaki ilişki, önemli veriler sunar. Kişilerin hayalleri, gerçekte yaşanmayan ancak kurmaca içinde kurmaca gibi zihinlerde kurgulanan başka yaşamların imkânını sorgular. Bu hayaller katmanındaki yaşantılara dikkat edildiğinde ise hem köylülerin hem de işçilerin verdikleri mücadelenin toplumsal ve ekonomik anlamda bir üst sınıfa dâhil olmak olduğu fakat bu üst sınıfa dâhil olmaya dair hayallerin de kısıtlı bir yaşam deneyimi ile biçimlendiği görülür. BİR GÜNEŞ ENERJİ SİSTEMİNİN DAĞITIM SİSTEMİ GÜVENİLİRLİĞİNE ETKİLERİNİN İNCELENMESİ
Günümüzde artan nüfus doğrultusunda talep edilen enerjinin de artmasıyla, alternatif enerji kaynaklarına yönelim artmıştır. Bu nedenle yenilenebilir enerji kaynaklarının (YEK) kullanımı gün geçtikçe artmakta ve özellikle güneş enerjisinin kullanımı yaygınlaşmaktadır. Güneş enerjisinin kullanımı, temiz ve ekonomik olmasından dolayı mevcut enerji piyasasında önemli bir yer elde etme yolunda ilerlemektedir. Güç sistemleri yönetiminin öncelikli hedeflerinden bir kaliteli ve güvenilir enerjinin tüketiciye sağlanmasıdır. Her sistemde olduğu gibi GES’lerde de önemli sorunlardan biri arızalardır. Enerji talep eden tüketici ile elektrik iletim sistemi arasında dağıtım sistemi bulunmaktadır. Bu sistemlerde meydana gelebilecek herhangi bir arıza durumunda, arızadan sadece dağıtım şebekesinin bulunduğu bölge etkilenmesi istenmemektedir. Bu amaçla sistemin sürekliliği sağlanabilmesi için sistemin güvenilir olması gerekmektedir. Dağıtım sistemlerinin çalıştığı süre boyunca istenilen görevleri yerine getirebilmesine güvenilirlik denmektedir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda yapılan bu çalışmada, dağıtım sistemine entegre edilmiş bir güneş enerjisi santralinin (GES) güvenilirlik analizi yapılmıştır. İstanbul ili Büyükçekmece ilçesinde belirlenen yere bir benzetim programıyla GES tasarlanmıştır. Bu çalışmada 5113 m² alan içinde 3014 adet Canadian Solar 320 Wp panel, ABB 5.k kW invertör kullanılmıştır. Toplamda 1000 kWp güç üretecek santralin, bir benzetim programında 365 gün üreteceği enerjinin analizi yapılmıştır. Aylık ve saatlik tüketim bilgisi kullanılarak projenin günlük yük eğrisi elde edilmiştir
