Internal and external factors influencing Gen Z wellbeing

    No full text
Background Gen Z, the cohort of individuals born approximately between the mid-to-late 1990s and the early 2010s, has been noted to experience challenges regarding their wellbeing. Yet, addressing wellbeing issues among individuals in their productive years is crucial due to the significant impacts on innovation, productivity, and performance. Wellbeing is influenced by internal and external factors. One important external factor is technology. Concerns such as excessive screen time and the constant need for updated information, often referred to as the Fear of Missing Out (FoMO), have been associated with a decline in wellbeing. Nevertheless, comprehensive research examining the effects of screen time and FoMO on wellbeing remains limited. This study aims to explore both internal (such as FOMO, extraversion, and resilience) and external factors (such as social support and screen time) that contribute to the wellbeing of Gen Z individuals. Methods The research adopted a quantitative approach involving 408 participants, with Smart-PLS utilized for both the measurement model analysis and the structural model analysis. Result Findings from the study reveal how social support, as external factor, is positively influencing wellbeing and resilience. The study also shows that resilience plays a role in influencing wellbeing. Therefore, the total impact of social support to wellbeing is strong, directly and indirectly. This study also shows the positive impact of personal traits, specifically extraversion to wellbeing. However, this study fails to show the dark side of technology impacted wellbeing. Conclusion The study expands knowledge on the direct positive relationship between social support, resilience, and well-being, revealing that social support significantly affects well-being both directly and indirectly through resilience. Additionally, it confirms that well-being is influenced by internal factors, such as resilience and extraversion, and highlights the impact of technology, especially Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) and screen time, on well-being. Practically, it encourages parents and educators to support Gen Z by fostering open communication, guiding resilience development, and monitoring technology usage to combat potential negative effects like FoMO

Dyslexia is a type of Specific Learning Disorder that causes letter recognition and reading difficulties. In Indonesia, the prevalence of Dyslexia ranges from 3-10%, predominantly affecting school-aged children. Early intervention is crucial for Dyslexic children, as the academic demands increase with each school level. With the rapid advancement of technology, the author has been motivated to develop an intervention application for Dyslexic children aged 6-8 years in the form of an educational game. This educational game is developed using the Game Development Life Cycle (GDLC) model, ensuring that each stage of development complies with specified requirements and meets quality standards. The game also incorporates the Gillingham-Stillman multisensory learning method, which helps Dyslexic children learn letter recognition, reading, and writing from the basics. It employs visual, auditory, and tactile sensory input across four main features: letter recognition, reading, writing, and a quiz, which integrates the learning elements from the previous features. In addition to the Gillingham-Stillman method, the game includes a Character Recognition technology that matches the child’s handwriting input with predefined templates. The game undergoes testing using two methods: Black Box Testing and Usability Testing. The results indicate that applying the GDLC model successfully produces a high-quality educational game tailored to the needs of Dyslexic children. This is supported by Black Box Testing, which confirms that all functional features operate correctly, and Usability Testing which yields an average score of 86.2%

    No full text
Incorporating environmental awareness into business operations while maintaining competitive performance is a significant challenge. To address this, many companies are enhancing their offerings by integrating services with products—a strategy known as product–service systems (PSS). This innovation aims to boost competitiveness and promote environmental consciousness. However, although PSS is recognized as a valuable approach for staying competitive, the interplay between PSS and its influencing capabilities remains insufficiently explored. This study examines the relationships among Organizational Learning Development (OLD), Supply Chain Integration (SCI), Supply Chain Digitalization (SCD), Supply Chain Agility and Resilience (SCAR), Green Supply Chain (GSC), and Product–Service Systems’ Green Competitive Performance (PSSGCP). Data were gathered through a structured survey involving 502 official motorcycle service partners in Indonesia and analyzed using SEM. The results confirm significant positive relationships between GSC and PSSGCP and between SCAR and PSSGCP. Moreover, OLD, SCI, and SCD each positively influence SCAR, whereas only OLD and SCD have direct positive effects on GSC. The analysis also reveals that OLD positively influences SCI, which subsequently impacts SCD—indicating that SCD mediates the influence of SCI on GSC. These findings provide practical and theoretical insights that enable managers and researchers to better align green and competitive performance goals. Furthermore, managers can assess the standardized loadings to evaluate each capability’s contribution to enhancing PSSGCP

PT Surya Plastindo is a company that produces plastic sacks. The finishing workstation often encounters various issues, including an excessive number of defective printed products and production quantities consistently exceeding order specifications. This study aims to eliminate waste and implement improvements in the finishing workstation. The lean manufacturing method is suitable for reducing waste at PT Surya Plastindo. The waste elimination process begins with describing the production flow and calculating cycle times for each process, using Value Stream Mapping (VSM) to depict the current state. Subsequently, the Waste Assessment Model (WAM) is employed to weight and rank critical waste. The most critical wastes are further analyzed using value stream mapping tools, with the VALSAT tool selected to map the value flow during production. Finally, a five-why analysis is performed to recommend improvements. According to WAM’s waste weighting calculations, defects (20.76%), motion (18.32%), and overproduction (17.54%) are identified as the most significant wastes. The analysis, combined with discussions with production heads and detailed mapping using VALSAT tools, resulted in three recommendations for improvement: the creation of daily production cards, checklists for printing machines, and plastic sack supports for the printing machines. The implementation of these improvements resulted in a reduction in delays and increased efficiency in plastic sack production
