Effect of dried rebon shrimp substitution on organoleptic characteristics, proximate composition, and iron content of dimsum

    No full text
Rebon shrimp is a local food source of heme iron with relatively high iron content; however, its acceptability among adolescents remains low due to its strong odor and less appealing appearance. Processing dried rebon shrimp into dim sum may enhance both acceptability and nutritional value. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of dried rebon shrimp substitution on the organoleptic characteristics, proximate composition, and iron content of dim sum. An experimental study was conducted using a completely randomized design with five substitution levels of dried rebon shrimp: F1 (20%), F2 (40%), F3 (60%), F4 (80%), and F5 (100%). Organoleptic evaluation was performed using a 7-point hedonic scale involving 35 semi-trained panelists. Data were analyzed using the Kruskal–Wallis test followed by the Mann–Whitney post hoc test. The results demonstrated that different substitution levels significantly affected the aroma, texture, taste, and color of dim sum. The formulation with 40% dried rebon shrimp substitution showed the highest acceptability. Proximate composition and heme iron analyses of the selected formulation revealed a moisture content of 63.71%, ash content of 1.49%, carbohydrate content of 24.01%, protein content of 7.57%, fat content of 3.22%, and heme iron content of 1.20 mg/100 g. Although dried rebon shrimp substitution increased the heme iron content of dim sum, the product does not yet qualify as a source or high-heme iron food

    No full text
The menstrual period is one of the triggers for adolescents to experience anemia, characterized by a decrease in hemoglobin levels. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of combining progressive muscle relaxation and cat stretch exercise in improving hemoglobin levels among adolescent girls, a population at high risk of anemia, particularly during menstruation. This study was quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest design with two group designs in June-August 2023. Fifty adolescent girls meeting the inclusion criteria were selected using purposive sampling and proportionally divided into two groups, the progressive muscle relaxation and cat stretch exercise combination group, and the walking group. The Point of care testing (examinations carried out near the patient outside the laboratory) method measures adolescent hemoglobin and hemodynamic levels before and after the intervention. The intervention was given for 4 weeks with weekly monitoring. Data were analyzed using the paired t-test and Mann-Whitney test. The combination of progressive muscle relaxation and cat stretch exercise was effective in increasing hemoglobin levels in both groups with an average increase of 0.484 and 0.184 respectively, but there was no difference in average hemoglobin in the two groups after the intervention (p-value 0.011 and 0.004). Physical activity, such as either the combination of PMR and cat stretch exercise or walking, was proven effective in increasing hemoglobin levels. These findings suggest that both methods have the potential to serve as simple and affordable interventions for reducing anemia in adolescent girls during menstruation

Pain is a common problem experienced by patients after undergoing a cesarean section. Lavender aromatherapy, which contains active compounds such as linalool and linalyl, was believed to reduce pain due to its analgesic properties and its ability to stimulate the release of endorphins by activating the hypothalamus. The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of lavender aromatherapy in reducing post-cesarean section pain at Siti Fatimah Az-Zahra Regional Public Hospital, South Sumatra Province. This study was a quantitative research with a quasi-experimental design using a non-equivalent control group approach. A total of 54 post-cesarean section mothers were selected as participants, with 27 assigned to the experimental group and 27 to the control group. Pain intensity was measured using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). Sampling was conducted using a purposive sampling technique, and data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. The results of the Wilcoxon test showed a p-value of 0,000 (p-value<0,05), indicating a significant decrease in post-cesarean section pain following lavender aromatherapy intervention. Lavender aromatherapy can be considered a complementary therapy option for managing postoperative pain after cesarean section

Aging is a natural process in the human life cycle. The increase in life expectancy has a positive impact on quality of life, but it also brings various consequences, one of which is the decline in physical and cognitive functions. As they age, the elderly become more susceptible to musculoskeletal disorders, which in turn increase the risk of falling. This community service activity aimed to enhance the understanding and awareness of the elderly regarding the importance of preventing falls and musculoskeletal disorders through ergonomic education and posture screening. The activity, themed "Ergonomics for Elderly Safety," was organized by the Physiotherapy Study Program, Faculty of Nursing, Hasanuddin University, on December 15, 2023, at the Tamalanrea Health Center, involving 30 elderly participants from the Prolanis program. The series of events included ergonomic counseling, demonstrations of ergonomic exercises, and posture screening using the Functional Reach Test and the Apley Scratch Test. The results of the Functional Reach Test showed an average reach of 26,88 cm, indicating a low risk of falling. Meanwhile, the Apley Scratch Test results revealed an average reach of 9,82 cm for the right arm and 16,95 cm for the left arm, reflecting the presence of musculoskeletal disorders, particularly in the left upper extremity. These findings highlight the importance of continuing ergonomic education and posture screening programs as part of preventive efforts to reduce the risk of falls and musculoskeletal disorders in the elderly

    No full text
A family member who acts as a caregiver is subjected to continuous distress while taking care of a stroke patient due to physical and psychological burdens. Most caregivers in Indonesia, or 47,2%, are young women. Research revealed that 45% of caregivers for stroke survivors experienced depression, and 64% underwent work and financial loads. Caregivers are responsible for feeding, maintaining hygiene, and doing daily activities in their caring. Several studies have focused on the stroke patients’ medical problems, whereas this study attempted to investigate the burden on family members as caregivers. This study employed a qualitative case study approach, utilizing a single-case study design. The data was processed using Colaizzi’s data analysis, which includes reading, identifying significant opinions, formulating meaning, and theming. The results revealed four themes on the caregivers’ burden, namely physical problems, hygiene care, medical care costs, and limited socializing activities. To summarize, physical problems are the main cause of caregivers’ distress, and caregivers are recommended to organize shifting schedules among family members in order to spare more time for their caring or any recreational activities

    No full text
Job satisfaction reflects how much employees like or dislike various aspects of their work. At RSUD Dr. H. Bob Bazar SKM, many nurses expressed dissatisfaction: 52,4% with income, 38,1% with working conditions, 52,4% with promotion opportunities, 57,1% with the work itself, 52,4% with recognition, 57,1% with work experience, and 71,4% with both self-development and overall job satisfaction. This dissatisfaction impacts nurses’ performance. This study aimed to determine a job satisfaction model among nurses at RSUD Dr. H. Bob Bazar SKM, South Lampung. It used a cross-sectional analytic design with a qualitative approach, involving all 149 nurses as subjekts through total sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed using Smart PLS (Partial Least Squares). The modified model showed all latent variable constructs had good discriminant validity, and the AVE test indicated no issues with convergent validity. Bootstrapping analysis revealed that among eight exogenous variables, only self-development and promotion opportunities significantly affected job satisfaction (p-value<0,05; t>1,96). The R² value of 0,701 suggests that these two variables can explain 70,1% of job satisfaction. Self-development was measured with five indicators (highest t=13,836), promotion opportunities with five indicators (highest t=15,576), and job satisfaction with six indicators (highest t=15,285). The study recommends the hospital prioritize improving self-development and promotion opportunities to enhance job satisfaction, contributing to better planning and organizational growth
