Prevalence of Pre-eruptive Intra-Coronal Resorption in Pediatric Population: A Retrospective Analysis
Get PDFObjective: To evaluate the prevalence of pre-eruptive intra-coronal resorption (PEIR) lesions in the pediatric population. Material and Methods: 8341 impacted teeth were evaluated regarding PEIR lesions via panoramic radiographs of 968 patients aged 2-18 who applied between 2021 and 2022. The number of affected teeth, the number of the tooth, the degree of the lesion, the location of the defect, and the presence of ectopic position were recorded. PEIR lesions are categorized based on the thickness of the affected dentin: Grade 1 (less than 1/3), Grade 2 (between 1/3 and 2/3), and Grade 3 (more than 2/3). All analyses were performed with IBM SPSS 23.0, and p value 0.05 was considered significant. Results: The number of teeth with PEIR defects was 71 (0.86%), while the number of patients with PEIR defects was 58 (5.99%). Mandibular premolars (42.3%) are the most commonly defective teeth, followed by mandibular molars (39.5%). The majority of defects were classified as Grade 1. In patients with Grade 3 lesions, no more than one defect was observed. There was a significant relationship between the degree of the defect and the number of defects observed. Conclusion: Detecting defective teeth in pediatric patients\u27 control radiographs is critical for early treatment. This study emphasized that the prevalence of defective teeth is high in pediatric patients, and pediatric dentists should be cautious about these defects
Toothache and Associated Factors in Brazilian Indigenous Populations: A Critical Review
Get PDFObjective: To know the information available in bibliographic sources about dental pain and its associated factors in Brazilian Indigenous individuals. Material and Methods: Critical review in which a literature search was conducted in the databases: BVS encompassing LILACS, MEDLINE and also PubMed and Scielo. Descriptors in Portuguese and English were used, and the Boolean operator “AND” was used to cross the information. Results: After completing literature searches in the databases and other sources the authors obtained 285 articles, and after exclusion of duplicate journals and articles whose titles, abstracts and texts were not related to the researched subject, 02 articles were included in the review. Conclusion: There are few studies on the topic researched, which highlights the need to develop more research in this area to enable comparisons and obtain the best scientific evidence on the researched topic. The Indigenous adult and adolescent population, when compared to the general population, showed a higher percentage of people with toothache that was associated with poor self-perception of oral health
Effect of Fluoridated Solution based on Silver Nanoparticles Associated with High Fluoride Dentifrice on Dental Erosion
Get PDFObjective: To investigate the effect of fluoridated solution based on silver nanoparticles (AgNano) associated or not with toothpaste containing high fluoride concentration (TP) on dental erosion. Material and Methods: Ninety-six enamel blocks from bovine incisors were prepared and analyzed for microhardness and initial roughness. Then, divided into 8 experimental groups (n = 12): G1 - brushing with water (H2O); G2 - brushing with TP; G3 - AgNano + TP; G4 - AgNano + H2O; G5 - SDF + TP; G6 - SDF + H2O; G7 - FV + TP; G8 - FV + H2O. SDF, AgNano, and FV were applied and, after 24 hours, all samples were submitted to erosive challenge with 0.3% citric acid (pH 2.6) and brushing with TP or H2O for 5 days. After treatments and erosion challenge, microhardness and roughness were again evaluated. The data were statistically analyzed by ANOVA followed by Tukey\u27s test (microhardness) and Kruskal-Wallis test (roughness), α=0.05. Results: There was no difference between treatments (AgNano, SDF, and FV), (p>0.05); however, brushing with toothpaste with high fluoride concentration significantly decreases loss of enamel microhardness. Conclusion: AgNano associated or not with toothpaste containing high fluoride concentration was not able to reduce dental erosion in the enamel, as well as SDF and FV
Prevalence and Risk Factors for Bruxism in Children with Congenital Zika Virus Syndrome: A Case-Control Study
Get PDFObjective: To determine the prevalence of possible sleep and awake bruxism and its related risk factors in children with Congenital Zika Virus Syndrome. Material and Methods: The case group consists of 20 children with congenital Zika, age range from 5 to 6 years old, and the control group consists of 120 regular children of the same age group. A questionnaire was used to assess bruxism and associate possible risk factors such as medications, systemic disorders, and sleep relationships, and a validated Oral Behaviors Checklist (OBC) was applied. Absolute and percentage frequencies of each outcome variable and mean and standard deviation of each item of the OBC questionnaire were calculated, respectively, compared between case and control groups using Fisher\u27s exact or Pearson\u27s chi-square and Mann-Whitney tests. Results: Only 25% of the children with microcephaly do not present swallowing difficulty, significantly lower compared to the 95.8% of the children in the control group who do not (p<0.001). The occurrence of bruxism was significantly higher in the case group (47.4%) compared to the control group (10.2%). In addition, 89.8% of children did not grind their teeth in the control group, compared to only 52.6% in the case group. There was a statistically significant difference between the case and control group (p<0.001). Conclusion: Dysphagia, feeding routes, and reflux in children with cerebral palsy are risk factors for possible awake bruxism, and children with congenital Zika virus syndrome showed a prevalence for possible bruxism compared to regular children

Get PDFIn the context of the Brazilian judicial system, efficiency in document management is essential to guarantee the speed and transparency of judicial processes. The Court of Justice of the State of Amazonas stands out as a relevant setting for investigations into the evaluation and selection of documents, due to the geographic, social and legal particularities that influence its institutional practices. The study focuses on the analysis of the document evaluation and selection processes at the Court of Justice of Amazonas, aiming to understand the criteria, practices and challenges involved in this process. The effectiveness of the methods adopted by the court to ensure efficiency in document management given the complexity of legal proceedings and the variety of documents generated is questioned. The general objective of the study is to investigate the processes of evaluation and selection of documents in court. The specific objectives include analyzing the evaluation criteria, identifying the selection procedures adopted, evaluating the challenges faced in document management and proposing recommendations to improve efficiency in this process. The research is descriptive, with a qualitative approach. Data collection will be carried out through bibliographic and documentary review, in addition to semi-structured interviews with professionals responsible for document management in the court. Data analysis will be conducted using content analysis techniques. It is expected that the results will contribute to the improvement of the document evaluation and selection processes at the Court of Justice of Amazonas, providing support for the development of more efficient policies and practices that are aligned with the needs of the institution and society in Amazonas. Furthermore, it is hoped that the study can support future research on document management in the Brazilian judicial context, expanding academic knowledge on the topic.No contexto do sistema judiciário brasileiro, a eficiência na gestão de documentos é essencial para garantir a celeridade e a transparência dos processos judiciais. O Tribunal de Justiça do Estado do Amazonas se destaca como um cenário relevante para investigações sobre avaliação e seleção de documentos, devido às particularidades geográficas, sociais e jurídicas que influenciam suas práticas institucionais. O estudo se concentra na análise dos processos de avaliação e seleção de documentos no Tribunal de Justiça do Amazonas, visando compreender os critérios, práticas e desafios envolvidos nesse processo. A eficácia dos métodos adotados pelo tribunal para garantir a eficiência na gestão documental será posta em xeque, especialmente considerando a complexidade dos processos judiciais e a variedade de documentos gerados. O estudo tem como objetivo geral investigar os processos de avaliação e de seleção de documentos no tribunal. Os objetivos específicos incluem analisar os critérios de avaliação, identificar os procedimentos de seleção adotados, avaliar os desafios enfrentados na gestão documental e propor recomendações para aprimorar a eficiência nesse processo. A pesquisa é descritiva, de abordagem qualitativa. A coleta de dados foi realizada por meio de revisão bibliográfica e documental, além de entrevistas semiestruturadas com profissionais responsáveis pela gestão documental no tribunal. A análise dos dados foi conduzida utilizando técnicas de análise de conteúdo. Espera-se que os resultados contribuam para o aprimoramento dos processos de avaliação e de seleção de documentos no Tribunal de Justiça do Amazonas, fornecendo subsídios para o desenvolvimento de políticas e de práticas mais eficientes e alinhadas com as necessidades da instituição e da sociedade amazonense. Além disso, espera-se que o estudo possa subsidiar pesquisas futuras sobre gestão de documentos no contexto judiciário brasileiro, ampliando o conhecimento acadêmico sobre o tema

Faced with this scenario, provide an experience report of the development and applicability of a model of action in workshop that aims to develop skills in information format. The methodological trail weaves several related to the diversity of its constitution activities. However, we clarify that the methodological activities consist of planning an action model, achieved through a workshop for the development of information skills for basic education teachers in public schools. The corpus of research focuses on a portion of 10 teachers in a school network Municipal Education of the City of João Pessoa-PB.As tecnologias digitais de informação e comunicação (TDICs) sob uma ótica da sociedade em rede estão mudando, mesmo que de forma não-linear, o cenário educacional brasileiro. Assim, surgem novas demandas para o campo da educação e a adesão ao desenvolvimento de competências no contexto das tecnologias digitais passam a ser uma exigência dessa sociedade, sendo um meio para que os professores, em especial da educação básica, possam também fazer parte desta sociedade informacional e em rede, através de habilidades de manuseio de informações por meio de ferramentas digitais. Frente a esse cenário, apresentar o relato de experiência da elaboração e aplicabilidade de um modelo de ação em formato de oficina que visa o desenvolvimento de competências em informação. A trilha metodológica entrelaça várias atividades correlatas à diversidade de sua constituição. Todavia, esclarecemos que as atividades metodológicas consistem em um planejamento de um modelo de ação, concretizado através de uma oficina para o desenvolvimento de competências em informação para professores da educação básica na rede pública. MODELO DE CONHECIMENTOS E HABILIDADES DOCENTES PARA O ENSINO DE EDUCAÇÃO FINANCEIRA ESCOLAR
Get PDFEste artigo se constitui de um recorte da dissertação de mestrado da primeira autora, orientada pela segunda autora, que teve por objetivo geral construir um modelo de conhecimentos docentes para o Ensino de Educação Financeira Escolar (EFE) para os anos iniciais do Ensino Fundamental. Buscamos responder à seguinte questão de pesquisa: quais conhecimentos são esperados que os professores dominem para um ensino crítico de Educação Financeira na escola? Como aporte teórico, utilizamos o Mathematical Knowledge for Teaching (MKT) de Ball, Thames e Phelps (2008). Como resultado, apresentamos o Modelo de Conhecimentos para o Ensino de Educação Financeira Escolar (CEEFE), adaptado da teoria MKT, constituído a partir de estudos anteriores sobre Educação Financeira, entrevistas com professoras e documentos oficiais da educação. Defendemos que em formações iniciais e continuadas os diferentes tipos de conhecimentos docentes sejam contemplados, de modo a atender a diferentes demandas que ocorrem nas situações de ensino
