An Interdental Radiolucent Lesion of Mandible: A Case Report and Differential Diagnosis
Aim: The present article discusses a case which was an accidental finding in uncommon location. Case Report: A 70-year-old apparently healthy woman presented with proximal caries on mesial surface of canine and exhibited mild sensitivity to percussion. An intraoral periapical radiograph demonstrated interdental bone loss along with a diffuse unilocular radiolucent lesion between the canine and premolar region. Pathologies such as Radicular cyst, Lateral Periodontal Cyst, Collateral Keratocystic Odontogenic Tumor (KCOT), Squamous Odontogenic Tumor (SOT), Central Giant Cell Granuloma (CGCG), Extrafollicular Adenomatoid Odontogenic Tumor (AOT), other possible odontogenic and mesenchymal lesions with similar presentation in the anterior jaw were considered and discussed in our differential diagnosis. Conclusion: After histopathological examination of the incisional biopsy, the lesion was diagnosed of KCOT. The lesion was treated with carnoy’s solution prior to surgical enucleation. The patient had been under regular follow-up for 2 years and showed no recurrence

Oral biofilms play a major role in the etiology of oral disease. Dental plaque is a surface associated structurally and functionally organized multi-species microbial biofilm. New insights into the structure and composition of oral microbial communities have implicated shifts in the composition of the resident microbiota in the development of oral disease.  
Crouzon Syndrome
Aims & Objectives: To provide an insight into the craniofacial deformities and radiographic features pertaining to this rare case of craniosynostosis that aided in timely diagnosis and early institution of appropriate management. Case description: A 9 year old boy reported with a complaint of enlargement of gums in the upper front teeth region since 2 years. He also presented with typical features of craniofacial deformity, maxillary hypoplasia and exophthalmos among other manifestations. The overall presentation prompted a clinical diagnosis of Crouzon syndrome which the patient’s family was previously unaware of. Conclusion: Dental professionals must be aware of various craniosynostosis syndromes to facilitate early diagnosis of these conditions. It is important to perform thorough clinicoradiographic investigations to help in differentiating between craniosynostosis syndromes and to accurately diagnose an affected individual to aid in institution of appropriate therapeutic and rehabilitative measures as required. A Comparative Evaluation of the Fracture Resistance of Endodontically Treated Teeth Using Two Obturating Systems-An In Vitro Study
The vertical root fractures are one of the most common and serious complications of the root canal treated teeth.Although various techniques, obturation materials and systems are available today which promises to reinforce these teeth,two widely used obturating systems-Thermafil and Guttaflow,seems to hold promise in reinforcing the endodontically treated teeth. Hence the main aim of this study is to assess the ability of these two obturating systems to reinforce the root canal treated teeth. 45 single rooted extracted mandibular premolars were collected and their crowns decoronated at the cementoenamel junction.Their roots were then cleaned and shaped till size F3 with the protaper rotary system and were then divided into 3 groups of 15 teeth each,The 1st group , control group, were unshaped and unobturated,the 2nd and 3rd group were obturated using Thermafil /AH plus sealer and single cone gutta-percha/Gutta flow sealer respectively. These were then mounted vertically in coldcure acrylic resin and subjected to vertical forces using a spreader with a speed of 10mm/min using an universal testing machine. The results were then statistically analysed using ANOVA and Bonferroni tests. It was concluded that the Guttaflow system showed better reinforcement of the roots as compared with the Thermafil system. 
Oral health status of handicapped children attending special schools in Bangalore city
Aims and objectives: The likelihood of a child surviving to adulthood today bears little comparison with the child of the 1880s; whilst the killing and crippling diseases of the 19th century have virtually been eradicated, their place today has been taken by accidents, cancer, inherited diseases and congenital malformations as the major causes of morbidity in childhood. The present study was conducted to assess the oral health status of handicapped children attending special schools and to compare the data with control group children in Bangalore City. Methods: The study group comprised of 502 handicapped children attending special schools and 522 control group in the age group of 5-14 years. The OHI-S, DMFT/DMFS, dmft/dmfs and CPITN were recorded to obtain the data regarding oral hygiene, dental caries, and periodontal health status. The Z test and Chi square test were used to test the significance. Results: Mean number of dmft/dmfs was higher in controls than the study group and bleeding sextants were more in the study group. Regarding oral hygiene, 50% of both the groups had fair oral hygiene status
Mandibular second molar with single root and single canal-A case report
This case report presents a rare root canal system in a mandibular second molar tooth, a single root with a single canal. The access cavities displayed only one round /oval canal orifice which is very rare. A clinician thus requires to have adequate knowledge about root morphology and its variation
Mini Dental Implants- The Same Day Implants
The computer and medical worlds are both striving to develop smaller and smaller components. In similar fashion, The Mini Dental Implants represents a smaller version of the dental implant. It is safe, biocompatible and provides an improved method of tooth replacement.Mini dental implants clearly represent an enormous breakthrough for the dental implant specialty as the most patient-friendly, cost-effective, proven dental implant system available today.  
Torsional Failure Of Ni Ti Instruments
Aim: To evaluate visible defects which may lead to the torsional failure of nickel titanium instruments.Methodology:New Rotary instruments(ProTaper Hand (S1 & S2),ProTaper Rotary (S1 & S2), Quantec Lx series(.06 & .05).Were used for biomechanical preparation was done using EDTA (Glyde) as a lubricant with the access cavity being filled with sodium hypochlorite 3% at every stage.The manufacturing defects were recorded to evaluate only defects that occur during instrumentation. At the end of each instrumentation cycle, visual inspection & microscpic evaluation of the instruments was performed and evaluated. To supplement the visual analysis and maintain an archival record of the deformations or defects of the file, photographs were taken.Results: Statistical analysis (Manwhitney U test), showed that Rotary Ni-Ti Greater taper endodontic systems (ProTaper, Quantec LX) when used in ten straight canals showed no signs of torsional fatigue. However, Protaper Hand instruments showed some visible and microscopic deformation but were not statistically significant.Conclusion: When used properly according to manufacturer’s instructions, and as shown in the present study, torsional fatigue may not lead to instrument failure when used in straight canals for upto 10 cases

This has increased the demand for not just improved functional care, but aesthetically functional care. In removable partial denture fabrication, unsightly facial clasps have always been a cosmetic problem with traditional options, either expensive or technically difficult. This article describes the advent of a new material as an alternative for anterior retention that maintains excellent aesthetics
