Students’ Perception of Using YouTube Application in The Context of English Language Learning
This study explores university students\u27 perceptions of YouTube as an English language learning medium. With digital platforms increasingly complementing traditional education, YouTube offers a flexible, accessible repository of content that enhances listening, speaking, vocabulary, and grammar skills. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, semi-structured interviews were conducted with five students from the English Language Education Study Program at UIN Raden Intan Lampung State Islamic University. The collected data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, revealing that students value YouTube for its interactive content and the opportunity to learn at their own pace through trusted channels such as BBC Learning English and TED Talks. Respondents reported that YouTube effectively supplements their learning especially in authentic conversational contexts and exam preparation while also noting challenges including inconsistent content quality, distracting advertisements, and difficulties in finding material suitable to their proficiency level. The findings suggest that integrating YouTube with traditional classroom instruction may enhance overall language proficiency, highlighting the need for further research on optimizing digital media use in language educatio

Enhancing English Reading Comprehension through Gamified Digital Platforms
This study investigates the effectiveness of integrating gamification tools—specifically Quizizz, Kahoot, Pear Deck, and Nearpod—in improving English reading comprehension among first-year students at Universitas Pamulang, Indonesia. Utilizing a pre-experimental design with pretest and posttest assessments, the research measured students’ proficiency in literal, inferential, and critical comprehension aligned with the KET-Cambridge international exam format. A census sample of 27 students participated in a semester-long intervention where gamified activities were embedded into classroom instruction. Results revealed significant improvements: while 57.14% of the experimental group achieved “Outstanding” posttest scores, none remained at the “Beginning” level. Qualitative and quantitative data highlighted enhanced vocabulary acquisition, engagement, and familiarity with exam structures, supported by real-time feedback and interactive elements. The findings align with prior research on gamification’s role in fostering motivation and academic performance. This study underscores the potential of gamified tools to transform traditional language pedagogy, particularly in contexts requiring alignment with global standards. Recommendations include broader adoption of such tools in higher education and further exploration of their applicability across language skills
The Effect of a Flipped Classroom with Youtube Integration Towards Students’ Listening Skill in SMAN 1 Seririt
This study investigated the impact of integrating YouTube into a flipped classroom model to improve students’ listening skills at SMAN 1 Seririt. The aim was to determine whether this strategy significantly improved students’ listening comprehension compared to conventional teaching. This study was motivated by the observed challenges that students faced in comprehending English listening materials using traditional teaching methods. The focus of this study was on the implementation of the flipped classroom approach, where students watched educational videos from YouTube before class, so that class time could be used for interactive and practical activities. Two eleventh-grade classes were selected as the experimental and control groups, using a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental approach. The experimental group received instruction through the flipped classroom method using YouTube videos, while the control group followed traditional instruction. Data were collected through pre-tests and post-tests assessing listening skills and were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, including t-tests. Supported by a medium effect size (Cohen’s d = 0.61), the findings indicated that the experimental group showed statistically significant improvements in listening skills. Thus, integrating YouTube in a flipped classroom setting effectively improved students’ listening comprehension and offered a student-centered, engaging, and flexible learning experience

The Consequences of Altruistic Behavior in Three Selected Picture Books
Altruism is commonly presented in children’s literature as a fundamental moral virtue that encourages kindness, empathy, and prosocial behavior. However, literary representations of altruism often prioritize its positive moral outcomes while overlooking the emotional, psychological, and social consequences experienced by those who perform altruistic acts. This study examines the consequences of altruistic behavior in three selected picture books: Little Miss Mary and the Big Monster Makeover by G. G. Toropov and Cleone Cassidy (2008), Harold Loves His Woolly Hat by Vern Kousky (2018), and My Brother’s Wheeeeelchair by Salil Chaturvedi (2019). Employing a qualitative interpretative research design, this study conducts close textual and visual analysis to explore how altruistic behavior is constructed and how its consequences are represented within narrative and illustrative elements. The findings reveal that altruistic behavior in these picture books generates complex outcomes, including emotional vulnerability, identity negotiation, and sustained social responsibility. While altruistic actions promote empathy, acceptance, and inclusion, they also expose characters to emotional risk, personal sacrifice, and moral obligation. These findings challenge idealized portrayals of altruism as an uncomplicated moral good and highlight the pedagogical potential of picture books to present ethical values in nuanced and emotionally realistic ways. This study contributes to children’s literature scholarship by offering a critical perspective on moral representation and emphasizing the importance of acknowledging the emotional dimensions of altruistic behavior in narratives for young readers
