ADHD children are children who have difficulty concentrating, have difficulty sitting, and have more physical motor skills. This is proven by some research. Concentration of learning is something that is owned by individuals but we do not know. ADHD children\u27s learning concentration cannot last as long as other normal children, normal children may be able to hold sitting for about five minutes but ADHD children cannot at most 2-3 minutes the child can hold sitting. The concentration of learning is also different, ADHD children are easily bored in learning. This research method uses qualitative with case studies. The population of this study were two ADHD children and teachers. The results of this study are that the first subject, GS, has severe ADHD, his learning concentration is very sufficient, the stimulus given by the teacher to him is difficult for him to accept. While the second subject, AR, is a mild ADHD child, in his learning concentration AR is very good. AR does have difficulty in concentrating but when the teacher provides motivation and invitation to learn he always wants to. &nbsp

    No full text
This study addresses a critical gap in STEM education literature by empirically investigating the underexplored relationship between structured learning techniques and mathematics achievement in Indonesian engineering education—a context with limited prior research despite documented pedagogical challenges. Using a quantitative correlational design, we examined 100 engineering students at Musi Rawas University through triangulated data collection: structured interviews (14-item protocol), observational checklists (10-point behavioral scale), and institutional academic records. Participants were purposively sampled and categorized into structured (n=68) and unstructured (n=32) learners based on a validated 10-point analytical rubric (inter-rater reliability κ=0.87). Data analysis employed Pearson correlation, t-tests, and regression modeling. Findings revealed a robust positive correlation between structured techniques (concept mapping, scheduled reviews) and mathematics achievement (r = .79, p < .001), accounting for 62.4% of variance (R² = .624). Structured learners significantly outperformed peers (84.1 vs. 61.5; t(98) = 12.6, p < .001), with concept mapping identified as the highest-impact strategy (β = .42). Notably, cramming demonstrated significant negative correlations (r = −.67, p < .01). These results substantiate cognitive load theory while highlighting the 32% prevalence of ineffective techniques—a key pedagogical concern. The study implies that embedding structured strategy training (e.g., concept mapping scaffolding) into engineering curricula could elevate mathematics performance by 20–30%. Limitations include single-institution sampling and self-reporting biases, warranting future multi-institutional validation. This research provides actionable evidence for optimizing STEM learning processes in Indonesian context

Structure and Openness in Literary Semiotics: A Comparative Study of Greimas, Eco, and Barthes

    No full text
This article offers a comparative analysis of three foundational figures in literary semiotics: Algirdas Julien Greimas, Umberto Eco, and Roland Barthes. Drawing on the philosophical traditions of Hegel, Kant, and Nietzsche, the study examines how each theorist articulates distinct approaches to textual meaning, structure, and interpretation. Greimas develops a rationalist framework centered on structural semantics and coherence; Eco positions himself between rationalism and postmodern multiplicity by proposing a model of textual openness constrained by interpretive competence; and Barthes advocates for the primacy of the signifier and the aesthetics of polysemy, resisting conceptual closure through a Nietzschean lens. Methodologically, the article employs close reading and comparative conceptual analysis to highlight epistemological tensions and intersections among the three thinkers. Ultimately, the study maps the evolution of literary semiotics as a dynamic dialogue between structure and openness, coherence and ambiguity, authorial intention and readerly participatio

    No full text
This study aims to explore the application of translanguaging by English teachers during learning activities. The primary focus is to identify the types of translanguaging employed by teachers, determine its frequency across different phases of learning, and examine the reasons behind its use. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, utilizing classroom observations and in-depth interviews with two English teachers as participants. The results reveal that translanguaging consistently occurred in three phases of learning: pre-activity (24 instances), core activity (65 instances), and post-activity (18 instances). Teachers primarily used translanguaging to provide instructions, explain materials, ask and answer questions, give affirmations, offer praise, and manage classroom interactions. The findings further indicate that translanguaging appeared most frequently during core activities, particularly when explaining grammar and facilitating discussions. The teachers’ reasons for using translanguaging included enhancing student comprehension, sustaining engagement, and fostering emotional connections. This study concludes that translanguaging is an effective pedagogical strategy in multilingual classrooms, as it supports students’ understanding and fosters an inclusive learning atmosphere. Nevertheless, the findings are limited by the small number of participants and the single-site context; therefore, further research with a broader scope is recommended

This study investigated students’ perceptions of serial-image media in English reading instruction at SMP Al Kautsar Bandar Lampung during the 2024/2025 academic year. Employing a quantitative descriptive method with a non-experimental survey design, data were collected from 96 ninth-grade students selected through purposive sampling. A closed-ended questionnaire consisting of 20 items, validated using Pearson Product Moment and tested for reliability with Cronbach’s Alpha (α = 0.892), was administered to measure four aspects: learning process and skill development, direct experience, challenges, and general perception. Findings revealed that students demonstrated a generally positive perception of serial-image media. The highest mean score was found in the aspect of learning process and skill development (M = 3.77), followed by direct experience (M = 3.71), challenges (M = 3.34), and general perception (M = 3.33). Students reported that serial images facilitated comprehension, enriched vocabulary, and stimulated classroom engagement, though some noted difficulties with unclear visuals. These results support Mayer’s Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning, emphasizing the benefits of integrating verbal and visual modalities. The study suggests that serial images are effective supplementary tools for enhancing reading comprehension and encourages their integration with teacher guidance and interactive methods
