Prospects and Issues on the Guidance and Counseling at a Compulsory Education School:A case study of Kirigaoka Gakuen of Yokohama City
Get PDFIn recent times, more and more issues associated with elementary and junior high school students have been drawing attention within our current school system. It is believed that changes in our social structure and one’s sense of values have influenced the thought and behavioral patterns of students, and the effects of these changes appear to be accelerated year by year. Under these circumstances, the importance of promoting a unified elementary and junior high school education system is considered as a new countermeasure to deal with the challenges we now face.
Unified education from elementary through to junior high school (Year One to Nine) enables students of different age groups to interact with each other. The
continuation of these interactions and activities helps to foster self-worth and purpose within students, in-turn this helps to form healthy human relationships.
By utilizing the nine years of unified education from elementary to junior high school, Kirigaoka Gakuen Compulsory Education School in Yokohama City has been tackling various issues with a primary focus on the bullying problem. The results of such initiatives have been reflected in the questionnaires answered by elementary and junior high school students and their parents. In addition, it can be said that bullying, violence, and the refusal to go to school due to problems with personal relationships can be prevented at an early stage.
If we reinforce the partnership between different schools and promote a unified education from elementary through to junior high school further, it is believed that not only will Guidance and Counseling be enriched, but also the development of the health of children.departmental bulletin pape

Exploring Possibilities of Educational Support in Myanmar Villages:The “School Committee Approach” in Pao Villages-
Get PDFIn Myanmar, 120 years of British colonial rule followed by over 50 years of socialist and military government left educational development almost untouched. With the establishment of democratic government in 2016, educational development was given top-priority on the national agenda. However, for the 135 ethnic monitories estimated to constitute 30 percent of the population, educational development has been notably slow for two reasons: ethnic culture and language and armed conflict with the Myanmar Army, which ended only recently.
For ethnic minorities to achieve self-sustainable, intrinsic development without losing their ethnic identity, what kind of approach should international cooperation NGOs adopt in supporting educational development?
In the Pao-inhabited area of South Shan State, international cooperation organizations have promoted educational development through the “school committee approach.” Since this was approach developed from the pre-existing village committee rganization, it has the potential to draw out communal strength.

A Study on ‘Educated Man’s Daughter’ in Three Guineas
Get PDF‘Educated man’s daughter’ is the key phrase that Virginia Woolf used in Three Guineas to reflect not only her feminist pacifism but also her attitude toward women’s suffrage. It refers to daughters of middle-class patriarchal families in England ‘whose fathers have been educated at public schools and universities’. Woolf coined this phrase because of the difference in ‘capital and environment’ between sons and daughters. Parents put much more importance on their sons’ education than their daughters’, spending a larger amount of money to educate their sons at public schools and universities. Daughters were only provided a small amount of money for their education, and even their living. They were educated at home by their parents or governesses. In addition, they were expected to take care of their parents when they became ill or old.
Woolf seems to have used her aunt, Caroline Emelia Stephen, as the model for her ‘educated man’s daughter’. Caroline grew up in a Victorian patriarchal family, and was educated well at home. She wrote books and articles, engaged in philanthropic work such as housing for the poor, and stayed home to take care of her mother until her death, but was treated lightly by her male-centric brother, Leslie Stephen, two years her senior.
Most importantly, Caroline became a Quaker, namely a member of the Society of Friends who held beliefs in pacifism and non-violence. Woolf was a proponent of the Outsider Society, a group of educated men’s daughters, which advocated pacifism. This supports the argument that Caroline was the very model for the ‘educated man’s daughter’. Moreover, it can be argued that Woolf’s ambivalent attitude toward suffrage activities came from the patriarchal thought system that she, as an educated man’s daughter, had unconsciously adopted from her family. Thus, it can be concluded that ‘educated man’s daughter’ is an important phrase through which we can understand 18 Woolf’s complicated feminist attitude derived from the disparity between brothers and sisters in Victorian England.departmental bulletin pape

The Quality of Life and Death in the Tradition of Western Astrology
Get PDFBeliefs in the power of celestial bodies and ways of interpreting their meaning are found throughout the world. In this paper, traditional Western astrology is taken as an object of study and its relationship with quality of life, death, and destiny are explored. First, the historical process and environment in which Western astrology was formed are surveyed. Second, the basic theory of Western astrology is viewed through Ptolemy’s Tetrabiblos, which is regarded as the standard textbook of astrology from ancient times. Finally, the ethical and religious problems that the materialism of Western astrology has caused are discussed, such as the freedom of God and human beings, astrological fatalism, and the meaning of life.
The horoscope of Western astrology, which is the birth chart of each person, has three fundamental components: planet, sign, and house. These three components determine all the dimensions of the life of that person. “Planet” includes the sun and moon, and it is said that these seven planets have productive or destructive power according to the mythological characters they are named after. “Sign” and “house” are particular areas of the zodiac and are derived by dividing the zodiac into twelve parts. Sign is the fixed area that starts from the spring equinoctial point, but house is the fluid area that starts from the ascendant, which is the rising point of the sun and changes everyday. It is believed the power of one’s planet adjusted by sign and house flows into each person and forms his or her whole life: parents, siblings, marriage, children, welfare, death, and length of life.departmental bulletin pape
