Students' academic adjustment in the early years of college presents unique challenges for those from 3T areas (Frontier, Outermost, Disadvantaged). Successful academic adjustment for these students requires certain supporting skills. This study examines the role of assertiveness and cultural intelligence in academic adjustment among students from 3T areas. A total of 80 first- and second-year students from 3T areas at a private university in Salatiga participated (61.25% female, M_age = 20.47 years, SD = 1.66 years). The instruments used were the Assertiveness Formative Questionnaire, the Cultural Quotient Scale, and the Academic Adjustment subscale of the Student's Adjustment to College Questionnaire. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results indicated that: 1) Assertiveness and cultural intelligence both play a role in the academic adjustment of students from 3T areas; 2) Assertiveness significantly affects academic adjustment; 3) Cultural intelligence does not significantly affect academic adjustment. Based on these findings, faculties and universities should implement programs to support students from 3T areas in their academic adjustment, focusing on enhancing assertiveness skills

Innovating Community-Based Change in the Area of Weight Loss and Lifestyle Change: The Power of Ethical Relationships and Leadership

Obesity is increasing around the world, with lower-income individuals showing more obesity than wealthier ones in high-income countries. Addressing this issue, Te Whatu Ora (Ministry of Health) and Total Healthcare (THC, a large Primary Health Organisation) worked together to put together a “unique and unsolicited proposal” (instead of competitive tender) to fund Brown Buttabean Motivation (BBM) to provide its 12 week From the Couch (FTC) lifestyle change and weight loss program more widely to a predominantly Māori and Pacific clientele in South Auckland. Results from a formative evaluation of 109 individuals struggling with obesity (BMI>=30) across 3 cohorts showed weight loss of 7.1 kg from an initial average weight of 173.1 kg, and mental health gains (i.e. only 20% showing depressive symptoms at the end compared to 60% at the start) for the 57% who completed the program. THC nurses, doctors, and health coaches contributed to and supported the delivery of FTC, which followed BBM’s well-defined program of motivating lifestyle change. It was found that a supportive environment (no judgment) and peer-based education (accepting no excuses) motivated clients through not only diet and exercise training, but also through social media where Facebook groups formed helpful communities that supported face-to-face work in the gym. We close with a discussion of BBM’s principles for success, and how extensible this might be to other communities

This study applied narrative inquiry method with a life story approach and critical incident technique to understand and described the changes and development of moral foundation of male nonbelievers in Indonesia. The Moral Foundation Theory (MFT) was used as the framework of explanation. Five male nonbelievers aged 21-22 years participated in this study. The analysis was carried out by identification of important trajectories in the life of participants and select emerging themes for analysis. The findings indicated that nonbelievers still express each domain of moral foundation. Nonbelievers tend to be dominant in the care, fairness, liberty foundation compared to the loyalty, authority, and sanctity foundations. However, social context has a role for nonbelievers in applying a certain moral foundation into action. Parents played dominant roles in introducing and guarding the acceptable family morality from kindergarten to elementary school. Meanwhile, changes in beliefs, friendships and the use of media play a dominant role changing the moral foundation during middle school to college

Kata kunci: Mas Bechi, pencabulan, emosi, Shiddiqiyyah, analisis sentimen AbstractThis study focuses on analyzing the reactions that emerged from Twitter netizens to cases ofviolence or sexual harassment committed by Mas Bechi at the Pesantren Shiddiqiyyah,Jombang, East Java. This research is generally a sentiment analysis. Linguistic Inquiry WordCount-22 (LIWC - 22) is used to measure the level of emotion that arises from a tweet. Thetweets analyzed were collected using python coding with several keywords which were thendivided into three categories, namely Mas Bechi, Mas Bechi's father, and PesantrenShiddiqiyyah. The reactions that appear are then analyzed using One-Way ANOVA to find outthe differences in the levels of reactions that appear. The existence of different levels ofreaction to the components related to each keyword is a separate reflection regarding thesentiment and response of the community towards this case. Negative emotions appear in allcategories with different levels. This is indicated by how the third party played a role in thecase. The level of reactions that emerge is also a reflection of how society perceives one party. For example, in the Pesantren category, it was found that negative emotions were lower andnetizens tended to be careful in assessing Pesantren because it is an element of religion andculture. It's different when netizens see Mas Bechi and Mas Bechi's father as ordinary peopleby separating the social attributes that both parties have. Keywords: Mas Bechi, sexual harassment, emotion,, Shiddiqiyyah, sentiment analysi

Humans realize the importance of having a partner. However, the process in achieving this goal is challenging. Online dating became a medium to build romantic relationships that can be done easily through an application. The recognition process between users starts with liking each other's profiles which is assisted by an algorithmic system. So, it is important for users to present themselves properly on their profile. This study aims to see how the user's self-presentation is formed. Through a thematic analysis of the results of a questionnaire involving 383 Tinder online dating users, it was found that actual self-presentation is an important point for online dating users who emphasize aspects of honesty and openness. Differences in the motivation of online dating users do not lead to different self-presentation views between them. Moreover, the actual self in online dating profiles is displayed selectively taking into account the climate of informal interaction on Tinder

Inspired by the paradigm of mate selection motives in evolutionary psychology, this research seeks to determine the extent to which violent extremist thought patterns are a product of perceptions of attractiveness that persist in men as a response to intrasexual selection. The survey was conducted on 192 samples of the general population in Indonesia, on a male sample (n = 80), after controlling for demographic variables, including dark personality (dark triad), men's subjective perception that Indonesian women find violence attractive (PAOSV) predicts militant-extremist mindset. PAOSV was the only variable that predicted violent extremism mindset in men. Furthermore, we discovered a mechanism that we call “sexualization of violence” – namely the extent to which individuals perceive violence as sexy, manly, and cool (AV) as a process that arises from the perception of high levels of positive feedback from the opposite sex towards violence. Where in the sample of men in this study, the only variable that shaped the mindset of violent extremism was sexual motives. The discussion elaborate differences in perceptions of attraction to violence between men and women, differentiation and gaps in perceptions between men and women in assessing violence. This study has practical implications, namely discussing the importance of the role of women as active agents in the formation of a culture of nonviolence
