    Get PDF
Tax evasion in Pakistan is very high that has led to deteriorated economic situation and lack of public service delivery. The paper analyzes four variables of tax morale - feelings of guilt and shame; lack of trust on government; perception about others citizens paying taxes; and level of penalties - as determinants of tax evasion in Pakistan. The paper includes survey carried out through a questionnaire distributed among carefully selected sample of 400 salaried employees to gather responses that were analyzed using t-test. The findings suggest that perception about utilization of money, elements of shame, perception about other citizens’ compliance behavior and level of penalties affect tax evasion. However, variables of guilt and perception about corruption do not have significant impact on evasion behavior. Some policy interventions have been suggested to curb the menace of evasion at the end of the paper. These policies include motivating taxpayers through methods like hypothecation, imposition of fines and penalties and publishing names of defaulters through media and tax department website

In the light of the results and conclusions of the study, it may be recommended that unwanted sounds and noise may be minimized in the school environment, trainings be imparted to the staff, workload should be equally distributed and necessary facilities should be provided at schools

Spatial and Temporal relationship between NDVI and Land Surface Temperature of Faisalabad city from 2000-2015

    Get PDF
The study estimates the land surface temperature of Faisalabad city. For the current study Landsat ETM+ images of 2000, 2003, 2010 and OLI/TIRS 2015 were acquired from USGS of the study area. Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) was developed and NDVI based classification was used to calculate the vegetation area. The digital number of thermal infrared band is converted into spectral radiance using the equation supplied by the Landsat user’s hand book. The effective at-sensor brightness temperature has been obtained from the spectral radiance using Plank’s inverse function. The surface emissivity based on NDVI is used to retrieve the final LST. The research aims to investigate the spatial and temporal pattern of vegetation and land surface temperature and also to determine the correlation between land surface temperature and Vegetation in study area from 2000 to 2015. The results reveal decrease in vegetation area results in increase in the LST. The vegetation area decreases from 34 to 14.3 percent with average increase in LST mean from 39.8 to 44 degree Celsius from 2000-2015. The research suggested that more studies should be conducted with images and sensors of higher resolution and seasonal variation can be assessed for the LST

    Get PDF
This research which is guided by impulse buying literature and “Stimulus-Organism Response (S-O-R) model”, explores the relationship between individual differences and impulse buying behavior directly and indirectly through the mediating role of positive mood. Survey methodology was conducted in order to collect data from 300 customers in Lahore. Convenience sampling technique was used and the associations between the concepts were analyzed by using PLS based SEM analysis. Results of the study prove that the factors which significantly affect impulse buying behavior are positive mood, impulse buying tendency and fashion involvement while insignificant variables for impulse buying are self-esteem, shopping enjoyment and hedonism. SE, IBT, Hedonism and Self-esteem have a direct significant impact with the mediating variable positive mood whereas FI shows an insignificant relation with PM. Results regarding mediation demonstrated that the relationship between IBB and Shopping enjoyment is completely mediated by positive mood but the relationship between fashion involvement, self-esteem, Hedonism, Impulsive buying tendency and IBB is partially mediated by positive mood. This research paper will prove beneficial for marketing practitioners and researchers by developing a comprehensive knowledge and understanding about customer’s impulse buying behavior and its relationship with its determinants. This study validates and extends the “S-O-R model of Mehrabian and Russell (1974)” by incorporating personal traits’ influences  on impulse buying behavior
