Employees are the most valuable asset in any organization, essential for the efficient and effective operation of all other organizational resources. In 21st century, more challenges are faced by organizations than ever before. These challenges are not limited to any particular organization or industry, but affect all organizations, no matter what they possess. Today, organizational climate in particular has always been challenging due to the changes affecting organizations. In order to survive and surpass their rivals, organizations are constantly seeking to improve their performance. Researchers found that organizational structure is even more important than ever because organizations must ensure that those who add to the organization will want to stay in the organization and continue to make their efforts in their work for the benefit of the organization. The purpose of this paper is to examine the nature of the organization (employees' perceptions of their workplace environment) and how it affects their job satisfaction and to investigate the effect of organizational climate on employee satisfaction. The population of the public sector cement company in Jammu & Kashmir is 610 of which 101 were selected as sample size. Convenient sampling method was used to collect data from the respondents. The survey data was collected using a structured questionnaire. For data analysis, Correlation and Regression tools were compiled to investigate the relationship between the organizational climate and how each relates to employee satisfaction. Research findings show that certain organizational dimensions such as empowerment, responsibility, adequacy of reward and career development have a positive association with job satisfaction. This means that public sector employees in the Jammu and Kashmir cements Limited were more satisfied with their work when the organization's goals and objectives were in line with the employees' personal beliefs. Based on the findings of the study, managers are encouraged to focus on articulating organizational policy but also to promote a stronger and higher sense of employee identification. Justice in conflict management, equity and transparency systems in compensation systems are equally recommended as acquisition strategies to promote and increase job satisfaction. Full text link
This study examined the relationship of perceived social support and its supposed mediating function in psychological distress to job satisfaction. Research was done through the utilization of K-10 Psychological Distress Scale, Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support and Job Satisfaction Survey employed to 139 college faculty members of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. Based on the findings, it was revealed that respondents were suffering from moderate psychological distress (mean=25.95, SD = 7.71). Also it was indicated that the overall mean of perceived social support of the respondents was 4.67 which signified that most college faculty members had moderate level of social support from their families, colleagues, and significant others. Among these, social support from colleagues got the highest mean which was 5.31 (SD=1.29), followed by significant others of 4.82 (SD=1.58) and lastly, the family with 3.90 (SD=1.32). In addition, results indicated that the overall mean of job satisfaction was 3.47 which mean that most of the faculty members were only moderately satisfied in their teaching job. Among the subdimensions, the highest were supervision (mean=4.00, SD=0.64), Co-workers (mean=3.98, SD=0.67), and Nature of work (mean=3.96, SD=0.56). However, the lowest scores were noted on: Pay (mean=3.23, SD=0.66), Fringe Benefits (mean=3.03, SD=0.51) and lastly, the operating conditions (mean=2.87, SD=0.56); while results showed that psychological distress was negatively correlated in terms of the subdimensions such as: fringe benefits (r = -1.77, p < .05) to teacher job satisfaction; (r=-0.170, p=0.05), while contingent incentives have a large but weak negative link with psychological distress (r=-0.234, p=0.01). Other subdimensions were reported to insignificant. Lastly, results revealed that perceived social support did not mediate the relationship of psychological distress to job satisfaction. The indirect effect was tested using the Sobel test and was found to be insignificant (B = 0.78, SE = 0.01, p = 0.43). This research will serve as the foundation for a set of recommendations that will encourage and promote a safe work environment and several interventions that will ensure teaching employee satisfaction during the COVID-19 pandemic by implementing a wellness program

This study analyzed the impact of action research to the students, family members and community as part of the research and extension program in the public elementary and secondary schools in Metro Manila by the College of Education, Polytechnic University of the Philippines Manila. It examined the social pragmatism of action research  in school and in the community. The community service program of the university through teaching the public school teachers how to make an action research is a best extension and research program that helps the school and the community. By means of action research, the public school teachers helped the students in improving their academic performance, enhanced teaching strategies and extend their knowledge and skills in reaching out the community. An action research makes the stakeholder act with moral and ethical responsibility to be pragmatic. Action research in practice is highly personal, built around the abilities, possibilities, experiences, and social commitments of the researchers who practice it. It is a real life commitment to social change, social justice, and social responsibility. The researcher used the Qualitative Descriptive Design as a research method which presented a comprehensive summarization of specific events experienced by individuals or groups of individuals. According to Sandelowski (2000) “qualitative descriptive research: should be seen as a categorical, as opposed to a non-categorical, alternative for inquiry; is less interpretive than an ‘interpretive description’ approach because it does not require the researcher to move as far from or into the data; and, does not require a conceptual or highly abstract rendering of the data, compared to other qualitative designs.

Zoonotic diseases caused by infectious microorganisms transmitted from animals to humans, are becoming a greater threat to global health security. With the massive amount of data on animal microbiota and zoonosis research that recognize the pivotal roles of microorganisms in animal physiology and human health, it is necessary to process and present the data and make them accessible to researchers, educators, and to those involved in microbiota and zoonotic infections studies. The Bacterial Assemblages and Species Identity Library Online (BASILIO) is a web-based bacterial system and database that was created to curate data from various research publications on isolated bacteria from a variety of animal species worldwide. The system focuses on the presentation of animal and bacterial taxonomy, with an emphasis on the abundance of bacterial diversity in the animals studied and the classification of bacteria according to their pathogenicity. The project gathered data on animal microbiota from published studies in reputable peer-reviewed journals. AGILE development approach was utilized to develop the information system iteratively. Unit, system, and acceptability testing were used to execute test plans. The BASILIO web-system was evaluated using ISO 9126 standards and found to be functional, usable, reliable, efficient, portable, maintainable, and usable. The BASILIO in its current state, fills in the need for a database dedicated to fast access to information on pathogenic bacteria found in animals. Future developers are proposed to adopt the BASILIO system and incorporate other data management tools and algorithms to create a more complex and robust system

Biocontrol of Some Fungal Pathogen that Cause Plant Diseases by Some Bio Agents

Fungal plant pathogens are among the most important factors that cause serious losses to agricultural products every year. Biological control of plant diseases including fungal pathogens has been considered a viable alternative method to chemical control. In plant pathology, biocontrol applied some microbes to suppress soil borne and airborne pathogens in an attempt to replace existing methods of chemical control by fungicides, which often lead to resistance in plant pathogens. In this review, we present the effect of mycorrhizae, actinomycetes and Trichoderma on plant growth and biocontrol of some fungal pathogens under stress conditions. The biological performance of mycorrhizae and Actinomycetes in soil is important for plant growth and development in stressed environments. In agriculture, plant growth promoting Actinomycetes can be used as biocontrol microorganisms and they had a big role in antibiotic production. They are well- known as active producers of a wide range of secondary metabolites, antibiotics and volatile organic compounds that can inhibit the growth of phytopathogenic fungi and bacteria. In particular, mycorrhizae and Trichoderma spores are found in soil and enhance both plant growth and decrease fungal infections. These antagonistic microorganisms are abundant in soils around the roots of economically and nutritionally valuable crops.  Their interactions with plant pathogens can significantly affect plant health in various ways. Different mode of actions of biocontrol-active microorganisms in controlling fungal plant diseases    include hyper parasitism, predation, antibiosis, cross protection, competition for site and nutrient and induced resistance. In conclusion, some microorganisms can used to suppress some phytopathogens and improve plant growth

Mushrooms are vital components of the forest ecosystems that play an important ecological role, economic advantage and provide nutritious food to humans. The study used the standard protocol to determine the proximate analysis of a wild and edible mushroom, Schizophyllum commune. The ethanolic crude extract was analyzed for the total phenolic content (TPC) using the Folin-Ciocalteu method and the total flavonoid (TFC) using aluminum chloride. The antioxidant potential was evaluated using the 2, 2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activity. Proximate analysis of the sample revealed that apart from moisture content (60.60±0.122%), it has a high amount of bioactive carbohydrates (25.15±0.005%), crude protein content (7.63±0.325%), ash content (6.17±0.001%), crude fiber (0.18±0.032%), and fat content (0.27±0.263%) which worth it to be nutritious food. The final concentration for TPC is 1.27±006 mgGAE/g and TFC is 17.18±0.054 mgRE/g. The extract exhibited a potential antioxidant activity with an IC50 = 1.39±0.005 mg/mL. The results suggest that the ethanolic crude extract of S. commune contains a natural antioxidant potential, which could be used for future applications in food, dietary supplements, and pharmaceutical industries

This research was conducted at Animal Science experimental area, DEBESMSCAT, Mandaon, Masbate. Ninety-six (96) head of Cobb day-old chicks were raised in twelve (12) broiler cages with eight (8) chicks in each cage. Four (4) treatments replicated three (3) times were randomly assigned to the cage birds using a completely randomized design (CRD) of experiment. The experimental treatments were as follows: Treatment A, 20 ml of Oregano leaf extract per liter of drinking water; Treatment B, 40 ml of Oregano leaf extract per liter of drinking water; Treatment C, 60 ml of Oregano leaf extract per liter of drinking water; and Treatment D, control (no addition of leaf extract in the drinking water). Broilers treated with 20 ml Oregano leaf extract per liter of drinking water had the highest body weights, body weight gains and improved feed conversion efficiency at 45 days of age. Although not significantly different, broilers treated with 60 ml Oregano leaf extract per liter of drinking water had slightly higher body weight, body weight gains but with significant feed consumption against the control. Broilers treated with 20 ml and 60 ml Oregano leaf extract per liter of drinking water had slightly higher net income as compared to the birds in the control treatment. Based on the results of this study, it is therefore recommended that broilers can be treated with 60 ml Oregano leaf extract per liter of drinking water to attain maximum overall performance. Further study may be conducted to obtain more conclusive results

Work-Family Conflicts and Family-Work Conflicts among Police Professionals: Implications to Law Enforcement Services

This study examined the work-family conflicts and family-work conflicts among members of the Philippine National Police and its implication to their law enforcement duties. It utilized the phenomenological approach in gathering qualitative data. The lived experiences of PNP members were identified through conducting interviews among selected PNP personnel in Romblon Province. Their responses were then transcribed, coded, and interpreted accordingly to draw themes and meanings. Findings revealed that for police work, tensions between the family and the work force include mandatory or unwanted overtime, working under pressure and perceived exhaustion, job stress and psychological pressures, such as repetition or frequent interruptions. The demands of the job and duty loyalty go against the marital engagement of an official in terms of time and dedication to the family as many officials maintain irregular schedules and also work overtime shifts. In comparison to many others, policemen have a high-risk job. They face a variety of risks at work depending on their assignment. Working in a paramilitary setting may therefore have potentially detrimental effects on police officers’ home lives. Implementing permanent working hours, hiring more qualified and competitive police officers, initiating tie ups with the DWSD to conduct seminars and counseling services, giving awards and commendations are recommended

The hospitality industry is now experiencing vulnerability due to the ease of posting negative reviews online. Although this feedback is vital in improving a hotel's operation, it will also destroy the hotel's reputation if not appropriately addressed. This study aims to determine the most common complaints received online by DOT-accredited resorts and major hotels in Camp John Hay under hotel department and modified SERVQUAL dimensions; identify the managerial response of hotels to negative online complaints, and create a complaint-response pattern for negative online complaints. The study used qualitative and descriptive design using online complaints posted on TripAdvisor for one year, from January 2019 to December 2019. There were 85 online posts that contained a negative review, of which 164 complaints were extracted. Results showed that the housekeeping department and reliability dimension reflected the highest complaint. Of all the negative online reviews, 62.20% received a managerial response. The complaint-response pattern showed that acknowledging the problem is at the peak across all hotel departments and ServQual dimension, apologizing as the next. It is concluded that the condition of the hotel's physical properties and efficiency of human resources in providing error-free service are the primary sources of the complaints. Also, hotel management has a different approach in responding to negative complaints showing management strength for some hotels and a weakness for some hotels. In general, the result indicates that managerial response to e-complaints can still be improved

Expansion and creation of employment opportunities have been the unstated objectives being followed since the early 1990s in India. After the emergence of new economic reforms, economic development has shown a growing trend, but employment growth during the period from 2012 - 2019 has drastically fallen in absolute numbers after the marginal improvement during the commencement of economic reforms. The people are moving towards low-productivity sectors and shoddier the quality of employment. The present study examines the recent trends of structural changes in economic development and occupational diversification in India and tries to identify the outcome and ineptitude of the ongoing vicious pattern of economic development and employment. The paper argues that the structural changes are bounded to output level only, there is no transformation of labours between the sectors that lead to more unemployment. The increasing share of unemployment having the intermediate and advanced education led to the increase of employment in the informal sector for their livelihood. India's inclusive growth will be impossible to achieve unless the informal sector's share of total employment does not reduc
