Fractions and anything related to fractions are among the mathematics subjects that are challenging for primary school students to comprehend probably due to the fact that fractions have multiple meanings in different circumstances. Primary school teachers could overcome this challenge using various fraction models to facilitate students’ understanding the concept of fraction. With this in mind, the current study aimed to reveal the fraction models used by these teachers when teaching fractions. Accordingly, those used by 14 teachers were analyzed to see whether the meaning of fraction differs depending on the models used. This qualitative study adopted the single case research model. The data were collected from primary school teachers through a semi-structured interview form and descriptively analyzed. The study has concluded that the cluster model, the area model, and the length model are the most preferred models by the teachers and that their choice of models in teaching fractions differs across the sub-constructs of fractions

Problem-solving is one of the important aspects of learning mathematics. However, some study results illustrate the problem-solving ability of students in Indonesia is still low. One step that is thought to improve problem-solving abilities is to increase numeracy literacy skills. This study aims to analyze the proportion of problem-solving abilities of Pre-service Teacher in terms of numerical literacy. This study uses a Quasi Experiment method with type Nonequivalent Pretest-Posttest Control Group. The study population was all pre-service teachers at Majalengka University, Indonesia with a sample of 60 people. This research resulted in a significant difference in the problem-solving ability of pre-service teachers. Students who have high numeracy literacy have a better influence on mathematical problem-solving abilities than moderate and low numeracy literacy

The present study aims at examining in-game language usages of students playing online games. It was conducted with the case study design of the qualitative research methods. The study group consisted of 10 participants who were determined by using criterion sampling method. Semi-structured interview form, observation notes and voice recordings were used in the data collection process. The collected data were analysed by content analysis technique. In the application part of the research, two game environments were designed, in which the use of language was not restricted and then the use of expressions of foreign origin was prohibited. During the first game, it was revealed that the participants playing League of Legends produced mixed expressions in Turkish and English and used them frequently in the in-game communication. In the second game, the participants continued to use these expressions voluntarily or involuntarily, although the use of expressions of foreign origin was restricted. The observations of the researchers supported these data, as well. Although the game was designed entirely in Turkish, the participants thought that it was very difficult to use merely Turkish for in-game communication. In addition, it was emphasized that the Turkish-English mixed expressions used in the game process were important for comfortable communication and this communication style became a pattern

The purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of network-based teaching on the problem-solving skills of high school first year students and their attitudes towards science. For the purpose of the research, a website has been developed which aims to attain the goals and behaviours of the “Cell Division” unit from the high school first class biology curriculum by the researcher. While developing the pages on the website, attention was paid to supporting the collaboration inherent in network-based education, accessing visual and auditory records, enabling student-student and student-teacher interaction and so on. The research was carried out as an experimental study in accordance with the "control group pre-test-post-test model". In the research, network-based teaching was used in the experimental group and traditional teaching methods were used in the control group. The research was carried out on 64 students studying in a high school in the city centre of Izmir (NExperiment =32, NControl =32). "Problem Solving Inventory" adapted in Turkish by Şahin, Şahin and Heppner (1993) as a data collection tool in the research, "Attitude Scale towards Science" and "Personal Information Form" developed by Baykul (1990) were used. In the analysis of the data, t-test was used to determine the significance of the difference between the experimental and control groups. As a result of the research; it was determined that network-based science teaching significantly improved students' problem-solving skills compared to traditional teaching and positively affected their attitudes towards science.Keyword: Network-based teaching, Problem solving skill, Attitud

Students' admission aims at selecting students who can adapt to the school environment and predict students' academic success. The best student admission system is needed to determine the success of religious education in schools that have a religion-based. This paper presents the results of correlation between predictive test study, cognitive and personality tests toward the students’ Islamic achievement in Islamic Subject. This research used a quantitative approach and a survey using three measuring instruments; a learning achievement test, cognitive test, and Big Five Personality test. The subjects of this study were 1396 students from 10 Islamic Senior High Schools conducting religious major program in Indonesia. The results of this study indicate that cognitive tests and personality types are significant predictors of religious education achievement. Specifically, verbal tests and reasoning have been significant predictors of religious education achievement as well. Furthermore, from five dimensions of Big Five Personality, the strongest type of personality, openness to experience and conscientiousness are vigorous predictors of the religious education achievement. Agreeableness, extraversion, and emotional stability, however, do not have a significant influence on religious education achievement. Further research can reach the entire national admission system of state Islamic senior high schools in Indonesia namely Islamic senior high schools Insan Cendekia, which is also a state boarding school in Indonesia
