Teachers’ Perceptions towards Challenges in Teaching English as a Foreign Language in Least-Developed Region
Teaching English as a Foreign Language is challenging. The body of literature has addressed the issue on the current challenges in teaching English as Foreign Language. However, only few studies have investigated the issue in remote areas of Indonesia. This qualitative study investigates the current challenges in teaching English in least-developed region of Indonesia based on the following criteria: language comprehension, method and approach, practical implementation, and socio-cultural environment. The data were collected from four English lecturers in one of teaching universities in Indonesia. The participants were selected using purposive sampling technique. The data were collected using in-depth interview and field observation which were then analyzed descriptively. The results of the study reveal that the participants have to deal with several obstacles in teaching English. Those obstacles include the students’ low proficiency of language comprehension, limited resources of materials, communication gap between lecturers and students, students’ lack of enthusiasm and participation in learning and lack of environmental support from society. From the observation, the participants show that the challenges are mitigated by adjusting their choice of pedagogical instruction and learning materials according to students’ level of language comprehension. The study suggests that the infrastructure development is strongly essential to establish a good teaching environment. Besides, creating positive understanding and paradigm about the sanctity of learning English for students might be able to help the students’ to study English better.
Using Review Sentences in Teaching Grammar
Review sentences is type of grammar practicing which is the easiest way to checking how is the students’ understanding about the previous grammar rules given, especially for college students. We are going to define some steps that we need to apply in review sentences. Moreover, it is still important to upgrading collage students’ grammar understanding because English as EFL will getting hard when they are not really concern about the grammar. Meningkatkan Hasil Belajar Peserta Didik Melalui Pendekatan TPACK Pada Materi Trigonometri Di Kelas XI-3 SMAN 6 Surabaya
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya hasil belajar matematika peserta didik di kelas XI-3 SMA Negeri 6 Surabaya pada materi trigonometri. Peserta didik merasa bosan dan kurang bersemangat dalam mempelajari materi tersebut, serta kebutuhan belajar mereka belum sepenuhnya terpenuhi. Hal ini berdampak negatif pada hasil belajar peserta didik. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar peserta didik melalui pendekatan Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPACK). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui hasil posttest peserta didik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan pendekatan TPACK dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar matematika peserta didik. Pada tahap pra siklus, ketuntasan belajar peserta didik hanya mencapai 33%. Setelah implementasi pendekatan TPACK pada siklus I, ketuntasan belajar meningkat menjadi 64%. Pada siklus II, terjadi peningkatan lebih lanjut dengan persentase ketuntasan belajar sebesar 91%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa pendekatan TPACK efektif dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar peserta didik kelas XI-3 SMA Negeri 6 Surabaya pada mata pelajaran Matematika Tingkat Lanjut, khususnya pada materi trigonometri. Pendekatan TPACK terbukti mampu meningkatkan motivasi dn hasil belajar peserta didik, sehingga kebutuhan belajar mereka dapat terpenuhi dengan baik
PENGARUH PENGGUNAAN MEDIA PEMBELAJARAN BAHASA INDONESIA DI SEKOLAH DASAR
The aim of this research is to determine the effect of using Indonesian language learning media in elementary schools. Indonesian has a very important position and function for the daily lives of elementary school students. Therefore, Indonesian language learning in elementary school needs to be optimized, one of which is the use of media. The use of Indonesian language learning media in elementary school makes it easier to achieve Indonesian language learning goals, especially in language skills. This research uses a qualitative approach with a literature review method. The data collected and analyzed all come from literature and other documentation materials, such as articles in journals, as well as other media that are relevant and are still being studied. So, by using a qualitative approach to this literature study method, it can be seen that there is an influence on the use of Indonesian language learning media used in elementary schools. TEACHING SPEAKING BY USING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI)-BASED APPLICATION
This study explores the implementation of the Speechace in teaching speaking. A descriptive qualitative research approach was utilized, incorporating observations, interviews, and questionnaires for data collection. The findings revealed that the Speechace has a speaking test program that users can use for free. At the end of the test, there is a transcription of the assessment which contains sections on speaking skills such as vocabulary, grammar, fluency, coherence and relevance. Apart from that, Speechace also provides free conversation practice. Meanwhile, to use the speaking practice feature provided by Speechace, user can select the "Try in browser" section. After that, various speaking skills will appear that user can try from beginner to intermediate level. In this feature there are lots of conversations and not only words but some are also in the form of sentences which aim to teach students from a low level to a higher level. Meningkatkan Hasil Belajar Peserta Didik Melalui Pembelajaran Berdiferensiasi Pada Materi Fungsi
Pendidikan merupakan elemen fundamental dalam kehidupan manusia yang tidak hanya membekali individu dengan pengetahuan dan keterampilan, tetapi juga membentuk karakter, kepribadian, dan pandangan hidup. Salah satu mata pelajaran yang memainkan peran penting dalam membentuk keterampilan berpikir kritis dan pemecahan masalah adalah matematika. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi adanya perbedaan signifikan dalam kemampuan pemahaman materi Fungsi di antara peserta didik, khususnya dalam membedakan antara relasi dan fungsi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut dengan menerapkan pembelajaran berdiferensiasi untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas dengan pendekatan kuantitatif, melibatkan 30 peserta didik yang dibagi dalam kelompok berdasarkan tingkat pemahaman mereka. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui pretest dan posttest, dan data dianalisis secara deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan dalam hasil belajar: rata-rata nilai peserta didik meningkat dari 52,34 pada pra-siklus menjadi 73,67 pada siklus I dan 86 pada siklus II. Persentase ketuntasan belajar juga meningkat dari 30% pada pra-siklus, 63% pada siklus I, hingga 86,67% pada siklus II. Simpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa pembelajaran berdiferensiasi efektif dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar materi Fungsi. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan penerapan pembelajaran berdiferensiasi untuk meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran dan memenuhi kebutuhan belajar individu peserta didik
Studi Surah Ar Rahman 19-21 Menggunakan Pembahasan Fisis dengan Pendekatan Materi Sekolah Fluida Statis
Al qur’an merupakan kitab suci yang memiliki bahasan multirepresentatif dengan sifat umumnya. Serta mengajak manusia untuk terus menggali, membahas, dan menyelidiki kedalamanya yang berupa keajaiban dan kegaiban di alam semesta ini. Bahasan ilmu pengetahuan saat ini sangatlah luas, salah satu yang tidak habis perkembanganya adalah ilmu fisik yang ada kaitanya dengan kelautan. Sebagaimana dalam surat ar-rahman 19-21 yang secara tafsir memiliki informasi yang mendorong kepada penemuan terhadap fakta yang ada di dunia seperti halnya pada selat gilbraltar. PENGARUH PENGGUNAAN E-MODUL BERBASIS FLIP HTML 5 DALAM PEMBELAJARAN DARING TERHADAP MOTIVASI BELAJAR SISWA KELAS V SD
This research aims to determine the effect of the Flip Html 5-Based E-Module in online learning on the learning motivation of fifth grade elementary school students. Fifth grader students are one of the group of students of the negligent generation, which is a generation that is very close to technology. In online learning, the use of gadgets is a condition that is very suitable for the characteristics of this generation. The presence of e-modules that can be accessed from students' devices anywhere and anytime as a learning resource is one form of online learning innovation. This research is a quantitative research with an experimental form. The experimental design used is a posttest only control design. The research population is the fifth grader students of SDN Kepanjen 2 Jombang in the 2020/2021 academic year. The sample selection technique used random sampling, obtained by class VB and VC students as the research sample. The instrument used is an ARCS model of motivation questionnaire. The process of calculating the overall statistical data is carried out with the help of the IBM SPSS 26 application. The result is the Sig value. (2-tailed) P < 0.05 and the value of t count is greater than t table so that the research hypothesis Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. These results indicate that the E-Module based on Flip HTML 5 in online learning has an effect on the learning motivation of fifth grade elementary school students. The influence of the use of e-modules in online learning on students' learning motivation in elementary schools has implications for the need for teachers to increase the variety of various aspects of learning.
