EXPLORING SPEECH ACTS IN THE SHORT FILM "VALIDATION"
This research analyzed speech acts that were uttered in the Validation short film. This study used pragmatics analysis to consider problems in English language learning, focusing on speech acts. This study aimed to classify the speech act in the Validation short film based on Searle's theory and the types of speech acts used in the Validation short film. This research used a descriptive qualitative method. The data used in this research included all of the utterances performed in the movie. The data analysis used a pragmatic approach based on Searle's theory. According to the theory, there are five classifications of speech act: representative, directive, commissive, expressive, and declarative. Searle discusses two types of speech acts: direct and indirect. It was found that the characters engaged in various classifications of speech acts, including representative, directive, commissive, and expressive. Notably, directive speech acts emerged as the most prevalent form employed by the characters. Additionally, direct speech acts were more frequently utilized than indirect ones. Future researchers are expected to conduct such research to analyze other aspects of pragmatic

Representation can be interpreted as a model or alternative form of a problem situation that is used to find a solution. Mathematical representation indicators describe three main aspects of mathematical representation: visual, symbolic, and verbal. Therefore. With the representation process, students have a good opportunity to solve problems so they can solve the problem correctly. This research describes the process of selecting and changing students' mathematical representations in solving HOTS problems. The research approach used is qualitative research. The subjects of this research were six junior high school students who had high (2), medium (2), and low (2) levels of mathematics ability. The data collection techniques chosen by the researchers were tests and interviews. The research results showed that six students used visual representations to solve HOTS questions. Meanwhile, one student with moderate mathematical ability chose to use symbolic representation. This research concludes that low-level students do not change the representations made into other forms of representation. Meanwhile, students in the medium and high ability level categories changed the representation they created into another representation. Students with high-level math skills can create visual representations in several forms

Social Support and Resilience Among Adolescents in Orphanages
Teenagers residing in orphanages typically consist of those who have experienced the loss of their family, particularly their parents due to death or separation. This is often influenced by unfavorable economic circumstances, chaotic or disharmonious family conditions, parents' limited capacity to provide care and meet their children's basic needs, and the breakdown of the family unit, resulting in diminished parental attention. Resilience may help teens overcome the challenges they confront in life. An individual's resilience is shaped by several circumstances, both external and internal. Social support is among the many external influences. This study employs a quantitative research approach, namely using correlation analysis, to ascertain the connection between social support and resilience in juvenile orphanages. The study used the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC) and Social Support as the measuring tools. The data analysis strategy used in this study utilizes the Pearson product moment test to examine the correlation between two variables. The study findings indicate a notable and favorable correlation between social support and resilience in juvenile orphanages located in the city of Ambon. In order to enhance and broaden the area of study, it is desirable to perform additional studies on the same issue, specifically focusing on the variables that impact resilience in teenagers
STUDENTS’ ATTITUDE TOWARDS AMERICAN ACCENT IN COMMUNICATION CONTEXT AT UNIVERSITAS MUHAMMADIYAH MAKASSAR

EFL IN-SERVICE TEACHERS' EFFICACY BELIEFS: FINDINGS FROM AN UNDERDEVELOPED INDONESIAN CONTEXT
Numerous studies have significantly highlighted the importance of exploring English as a foreign language (EFL) teachers' efficacy belief in different contexts. Nevertheless, examining teachers' capability to take action in underdeveloped settings where constrained circumstances may hinder them from undertaking necessary actions for better student achievement is scarce to date. This mixed-methods study then investigated the self-efficacy beliefs of Indonesian EFL in-service teachers in the underdeveloped region of Maluku province. This study explored how teachers perceived self-efficacy influenced their pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) and instructional practices in this resource-constrained context. Data were collected from 39 teachers through the English Language Teachers' Efficacy Beliefs Questionnaire and semi-structured interviews. The findings revealed moderate levels of self-efficacy across domains like teaching knowledge, ethics, classroom management, instructional strategies, student engagement, and evaluation. Teachers faced challenges in providing effective language models, seeking professional development, and catering to diverse learner needs. Their self-efficacy beliefs shaped approaches to curriculum implementation, understanding learners, instructional delivery, and classroom practices. The underdeveloped context likely contributed to moderate self-efficacy due to limited resources and student diversity. Strengthening teacher education programs emphasizing self-efficacy, PCK, and evidence-based practices and establishing supportive professional learning communities could enhance teachers' effectiveness in fostering positive learning environments and improving English education quality in underdeveloped regions. These findings imply that targeted interventions that enhance teacher self-efficacy could be crucial in improving educational outcomes in resource-constrained settings like Maluku
