Learning Obstacles or learning barriers in learning mathematics must be minimized so that optimal learning can be realized. One of them is learning on the Three Variable Linear Equation System (SPLTV) material. This study aims to examine and describe student learning obstacles in learning SPLTV material based on praxeology theory. This research uses a qualitative approach with phenomenological method. By using triangulation techniques, researchers used test instruments and interviews to identify these learning barriers. The results of the analysis of student answers and in-depth interviews based on praxeology theory show that students have learning barriers, both ontogenic, didactic, and epistemological barriers. This is illustrated by the inability of students to use theory to underlie the completion technique, the inaccuracy of theory and technology in underlying the techniques used by students, and the inability of students to understand the type of assignments given. The three obstacles identified based on praxeology are expected to be a reference for teachers to be able to develop teaching materials that can minimize learning barriers to students

One of the significant standards for students' mathematical abilities is problem-solving skills. However, in reality, students' mathematical problem-solving skills are still low. This is due to the need for more practice in solving problems that involve problem-solving skills and non-routine questions. Classroom learning is still teacher-focused, and instructional materials rely solely on textbooks. Therefore, an e-module based on Problem-Based Learning (PBL) has been developed to enhance students' problem-solving abilities. The development procedure follows the Plomp model, consisting of three phases: the initial investigation phase, the development or prototype creation phase, and the assessment phase. The trial subjects are eighth-grade students from SMPN 1 Painan. Research instruments used include validity questionnaires and practicality questionnaires. Validity testing involves three mathematics experts, one language expert, and one educational technology expert. Practicality testing is limited to the small group stage with six students. Research utilizes descriptive and descriptive statistical techniques in data analysis. The research results indicate that the PBL-based e-module is valid, with a score of 90.51%, and practical for use in the Small group stage, with a score of 81.15%. Based on the research findings, the PBL-based e-module is practical regarding readability and clarity of content, usability and ease of use, attractiveness and suitability of time allocation, and practical for enhancing students' mathematical problem-solving abilities

    No full text
This research is based on an awareness of the imbalance of gender representation in history teaching. For a long time, historical narratives constructed in history textbooks have often ignored women's contributions and created a limited narrative regarding the role of gender in the development of society. Indonesian historical narratives need to be reformulated through a multicultutal perspective approach to include the experiences and contributions of diverse gender groups from diverse backgrounds and cultures in the teaching of history. The purpose of this research is to strive for critical, sustainable and transformative reflection in teaching gender-aware history through a multicultural perspective. This research method uses qualitative research with a descriptive approach. The result of this research is a deep understanding and awareness of gender to students as well as knowledge of gender imbalance in Indonesian history materials

The Dynamics of Secularism in Indonesia

    No full text
This paper seeks to examine the nuances of secularism in Indonesia, particularly in the context of its secular education curriculum. It is evident that the allotment of time for religious instruction in schools is limited to one to two hours per week, while in universities it is restricted to two credits in the first semester. The separation of religion and state, or secularism, can facilitate the destruction of life. The research method employed is historical. The historical method is the procedure employed by historians to describe the story of the past, based on the evidence that has been left behind. The process of historical writing comprises the following steps: The historical research method comprises four stages: heuristics, criticism, interpretation and historiography. The findings of the research indicate that secularism emerged as a consequence of the dominance of the Church over the laity during the medieval period. Subsequently, a compromise was reached whereby the Church assumed responsibility for religious affairs while scholars were tasked with addressing worldly concerns. This form of secularism was subsequently disseminated across the globe, including the Islamic world, particularly towards the end of the Ottoman Empire, which was undergoing a process of decline due to the erosion of Islamic values. With the dissolution of the Ottoman Shield, Islamic countries began to experience the influence of secularism, including Indonesia, which saw its introduction to the educational sector

A MODIFIED SEMANTICS MAPPING STRATEGY BASED ON AN INTERACTIVE APPROACH TO ENHANCE THE STUDENTS' VOCABULARY ACHIEVEMENT

    No full text
Vocabulary plays an important role in mastering language. Many students have low capability in vocabulary mastery. In this research, the authors aim to improve students' vocabulary mastery by teaching the students through a modified semantics mapping strategy based on an interactive approach. The authors employed quantitative research with an experimental design. The subjects of this research were the second-grade students of SMPN 37 Bandar Lampung. A vocabulary test is used as the instrument of this research. The data were obtained from the pre-test and post-test. Independent group t-test in SPSS was used to analyze the data. The results show a statistically significant difference in vocabulary achievement between the experimental and control classes. It is revealed from the t-value, which is higher than the t-table with a significance level of less than 0.05 (9.865>2.005) (0.000<0.05). As a result, the hypothesis is accepted. This indicates that a modified semantic mapping strategy is better than a semantic mapping strategy in enhancing students' vocabulary achievement. Furthermore, using a modified Semantics Mapping Strategy based on teaching vocabulary is more effective in encouraging students to be involved in teaching-learning activities than using Semantics Mapping Strategy

    No full text
This quantitative quasi-experimental study examines vocabulary mastery differences between students taught with Wordwall Online Games and students taught with traditional learning methods. Conducted with 58 junior high school 8th graders, participants were divided into control and experimental groups. Vocabulary proficiency was assessed via an updated vocabulary level test administered through Google Forms, with data analyzed using paired sample t-tests. Findings indicate significant vocabulary improvement in both groups from pre- to post-test. Effect size calculations using Cohen's d revealed large effect values for both groups, with Cohen's d = 2.19718 for the experimental group. Cohen's d = 1.52645 for the control group, reflecting a difference of 0.67073. Despite both methods being practical, this difference suggests a notably stronger impact of Wordwall Online Games on vocabulary mastery than traditional media. Thus, while Wordwall enhances vocabulary acquisition more substantially, traditional media also plays a valuable role in vocabulary development, supporting its continued use in language education. This research could enhance vocabulary mastery in students' reading skills, encourage interactive teaching methods, and serve as a valuable resource for future studies on using Wordwall Online Games to improve vocabulary in junior high school
