    THE EFL STUDENTS' PERCEPTION OF USING WHATSAPP APP GROUP DURING THE PANDEMIC SITUATION

    WhatsApp is a mobile phone application and web-based social network that integrates various features used to communicate with other users, including education, business, and entertainment. This study aimed to investigate EFL students' perspectives on WhatsApp as a medium for teaching and learning during the pandemic. The qualitative descriptive method was used in this study. A total of 30 students from the seventh grade in SMP 13 Jember were included in this study. The questionnaire was designed with both closed-ended and open-ended questions. The Guttman Scale is the format for a closed-ended questionnaire. The open-ended questions allowed participants to freely communicate and express their views and opinions, but there were no possibilities for using WhatsApp in English classrooms during the COVID-19 pandemic. During the COVID-19 epidemic, students' attitudes toward the WhatsApp application in English classes were tested using closed-ended and open-ended questionnaires. The information was gathered using a questionnaire and a phone interview. Following the completion of the research, we will learn how EFL students perceive WhatsApp as an online teaching-learning media during a pandemic. Furthermore, the results of this study that gauged participants' perception of the use of WhatsApp in learning vocabulary show that, generally, participants have positive attitudes towards learning new vocabulary items via WhatsApp. Implications for teaching and future research are discussed

    Alan Jackson is a country music singer who has enthusiasm for supporting and maintaining the existence of country music. Figurative language is found in many Alan Jackson songs, which makes it difficult for listeners to understand the meaning of the song lyrics. Country music was feared to disappear since country music fans are mostly adults. Thus, understanding the meaning of figurative language in Alan Jackson songs to avoid misunderstanding the meaning is also the aim of this research. A qualitative method was used while conducting this study, which was considered more suitable to be applied. Eighteen songs have been selected from the album “34 Number Ones” based on love themed. The result showed eighty-six data and thirteen types of figurative language found in the 18 Alan Jackson songs. This study found that the types of figurative language in the eighteen selected Alan Jackson songs appeared as additional words and established a consistent rhythm in the songs. Also, it impacted the meaning that was explained deeply in the songs. Hopefully, this study can provide knowledge of figurative language along with new insights for listeners and be a contribution to further research

    Learning media are an essential element in the learning process. Innovative learning certainly has a significant impact on students' interest and motivation in learning. This study aims to determine the feasibility of producing leaflets of plants used in religious traditions as learning media on plantae in Class X Senior High School (SMA Negeri) 2 Kendari. This study is descriptive. Data collection was conducted using validation instruments. Four validators carried out validation. Two validators were lecturers from the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Science, while the other two were biology teachers at SMA Negeri 2 Kendari. Data on the feasibility of leaflet teaching materials on plant material is declared "feasible" to be used as teaching materials in the learning process.Learning media are an essential element in the learning process.     PENGEMBANGAN MULTIMEDIA INTERAKTIF UNTUK MENGOPTIMALKAN STUDENT CENTERED LEARNING MATERI GERAK LURUS

    Penggunaan teknologi dalam pendidikan dapat membantu memaksimakan siswa dalam belajar mandiri (student centered learning) serta dapat membantu siswa untuk memahami konsep dengan baik, salah satu alternatifnya adalah dengan penggunaan multimedia interaktif. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menghasikan produk multimedia interaktif pada mata pelajaran Fisika topik Gerak Lurus untuk siswa kelas X. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Research and Development (R&D) dengan model 4-D. Multimedia yang telah kembangkan diuji oleh 2 validator ahli dengan hasil validasi dari keseluruhan indikator mendapatkan presentase rata-rata sebesar 86,68% dengan kriteria sangat layak. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian kelayakan media yang telah dilaksanakan maka diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa multimedia interaktif topik Gerak Lurus dinyatakan layak sebagai media pembelajaran yang dapat membantu mengoptimalkan student centered learning dan membantu siswa memahami konsep gerak lurus dengan lebih baik.Pemanfaatan teknologi dalam pendidikan dapat membantu siswa dalam belajar mandiri (student centered learning) dan dapat membantu siswa untuk memahami konsep dengan baik, salah satu alternatifnya adalah penggunaan multimedia interaktif.     Menggali Pengaruh Dukungan Sosial terhadap Quarter Life Crisis pada Emerging Adulthood di Indonesia

    Identity exploration in your 20s does not always go smoothly, but often experiences a developmental and emotional crisis called a quarter life crisis. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of social support on the quarter life crisis in emerging adulthood in Karawang. The methodology in this research is quantitative with an associative causality design. The population in this study were emerging adulthood individuals domiciled in Karawang, aged 18-25 years. The total number of research participants was 111 participants. The sampling technique uses non-probability sampling, namely convenience sampling technique. The instrument for measuring the quarter life crisis uses the Quarter life crisis (QLC) scale which was modified by researchers from the scale developed by Afandi et al., and an instrument to measure social support by adopting The Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) adapted by Sulistiani et al. The research results state that there is an influence of social support on the quarter life crisis in emerging adulthood in Karawang, with a value of sig. 0.002 < 0.05 which means Ha is accepted. Social support contributed 8.5% to the quarter life crisis in emerging adulthood in Karawan

    UTILIZING CRITICAL DISCOURSE ANALYSIS ON DEVELOPING STUDENTS' DIGITAL LITERACY SKILLS: AN ACTION RESEARCH

    In today's digital era, students need digital literacy skills to critically navigate, evaluate, and analyze a large amount of online information. Digital literacy uses digital technology to obtain, evaluate, create, and communicate information in various contexts. This research aimed to investigate the impact of CDA in improving students' digital literacy, explore the role of CDA in enhancing students' digital literacy, and identify the lecturer's strategy in using CDA for enhancing students' digital literacy. This current study used classroom action research as a research design which consisted of two cycles. The participants in this research were college students at STIE Gentiaras Lampung. The instruments of this research consisted of tests and non-test. Quantitative data was taken from students' digital literacy tests, and qualitative data were taken from observation and interviews. The findings show that CDA can improve students' digital literacy. Moreover, there were five roles of CDA in enhancing students' digital literacy: fostering critical thinking, promoting media literacy, enhancing textual analysis, encouraging social awareness, and cultivating responsible digital citizenship. The last finding is the teacher employed three strategies to improve students' digital literacy: acquainting them with the fundamental principles of CDA, selecting diverse texts for comprehensive CDA analysis, and encouraging classroom discussions. According to the findings, policymakers can consider integrating CDA into educational curricula to enhance students' digital literacy skills

    History of Rice Planting Tradition in Belitang Community (1937-1942)

    This study discusses how the initial background of the formation of the tradition of planting rice in the Belitang community (1937-1939) and how the development of the tradition of planting rice in the Belitang community (1940-1942). This research uses historical research methods or historical research includes, heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. This research uses sociological and anthropological approaches, data collection techniques in this study through observation, literature studies and interviews. The results showed that the beginning of the formation of the tradition of planting rice in the Belitang community occurred in 1937, 1938, and 1939. This is because the Dutch government in power in Belitang implemented ethical political policies, moving residents from Java Island and making irrigation canals. Furthermore, the development of rice planting traisi in the Belitang community in 1940, 1941, and 1942. In 1940 and 1941 there was no perfect way to grow rice, after Japan came to power in 1942, Japan implemented the Kinkyu Shokuryo Taisaku system which updated the agricultural system from tillage to rice planting techniques. In addition, the transmigation community also carries out a kind of ritual honoring the goddess Sri (goddess of rice) when planting rice using sesaje

    The advancement of digital technology necessitates a transformation in learning approaches, including in Digital Economics courses. However, the available instructional media have not fully addressed students' needs in understanding technology-based economic concepts. This study aims to analyze the need for developing interactive e-module–based learning media in digital economics to enhance students’ economic literacy. This research employs a descriptive quantitative approach, involving 20 students from the Economic Education Program at Universitas Muhammadiyah Metro who had previously completed the Digital Economics course. The data were collected using a student questionnaire focused on their expectations regarding e-module features, covering eight key indicators. The results show that most students expect learning media to be interactive, user-friendly, visually appealing, and integrated with real-world digital economic practices. These findings highlight the urgency of developing adaptive interactive e-modules that align with the characteristics of the digital generation and support active learning processes. The study concludes that students have high expectations for the presence of digital economics learning media capable of enhancing economic literacy and overall learning engagement

    Matematika cukup sulit untuk dipelajari oleh siswa, terutama konten geometri transformasi. Tantangan-tantangan ini dapat membatasi kemampuan siswa untuk berpikir orisinil. Selain itu, teknologi modern belum terintegrasi ke dalam proses belajar mengajar di kelas. Penelitian tersebut bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis pada materi transformasi geometri dengan cara: (1) mengetahui proses pengembangan e-modul berbasis design thinking AR; dan (2) mengetahui kualitas e-modul berbasis design thinking AR. Penelitian ini diklasifikasikan sebagai penelitian pengembangan karena menggunakan teknik ADDIE. Partisipan penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI MIA 1 SMA Islam Al Falah Kota Jambi tahun ajaran 2022/2023. Temuan ini menunjukkan kualitas e-modul pembelajaran yang tinggi, dengan menggunakan standar validitas yang berasal dari hasil validasi materi yang menghasilkan persentase “cukup valid” sebesar 82%, dan hasil validasi desain yang menghasilkan persentase “sangat valid” sebesar 86%. Untuk kriteria kepraktisan, angket kepraktisan siswa memperoleh persentase 92,96% dengan kriteria “sangat praktis”, sedangkan angket kepraktisan guru memperoleh persentase 80% dengan kriteria “cukup praktis”. Analisis uji N-gain menghasilkan skor 78%, dengan kategori sangat efektif untuk kriteria keefektifan yang diperoleh dari kuesioner respon siswa, dan persentase 77,96% untuk kriteria “cukup efektif”. Temuan implementasi lebih lanjut menunjukkan bahwa e-modul berdasarkan proyek berpikir desain, dibantu oleh augmented reality, bermanfaat dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis yang dikembangkan

    STUDENTS' MATHEMATICAL CONNECTION ABILITY IN SOLVING PROBLEMS

    The purpose of this study is to describe high, mid, and low mathematical abilities in solving mathematics problems of grade VII SMP PGRI 06 Malang in the 2019/2020 academic year. Data analysis techniques were carried out from the results of mathematical connection tests, problem solving tests and interview instruments. The research subjects were 22 students. Researchers took 3 subjects representing high, mid, and low ability students. Researchers used instruments of problem-solving tests and interview guides. Finally, the research concludes that high-ability students do all activities in the indicators of mathematical connection ability in solving problems; mid-ability students do not do all the activities in the indicator of mathematical connection ability in solving problems; Students with low mathematical abilities do not do all activities in the indicator of mathematical connection ability in solving problems.Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan matematika tinggi, sedang dan rendah dalam menyelesaikan masalah matematika siswa kelas VII SMP PGRI 06 Malang tahun pelajaran 2019/2020. Teknik analisis data dilakukan dari hasil tes koneksi matematis, tes pemecahan masalah dan instrumen wawancara. Subjek penelitian adalah 22 siswa. Peneliti mengambil 3 subjek yang mewakili siswa berkemampuan tinggi, sedang dan rendah. Peneliti menggunakan instrumen tes pemecahan masalah dan pedoman wawancara. Hasil penelitian  ini bahwa siswa berkemampuan tinggi melakukan semua aktivitas dalam indikator kemampuan koneksi matematis dalam memecahkan masalah; siswa berkemampuan sedang tidak melakukan semua aktivitas pada indikator kemampuan koneksi matematis dalam menyelesaikan masalah; Siswa dengan kemampuan matematis rendah tidak melakukan semua aktivitas pada indikator kemampuan koneksi matematis dalam menyelesaikan masalah
