    COMPARING KWL AND SQ3R MODELS ON ENHANCE JUNIOR HIGHSCHOOL STUDENTNS’ READING COMPREHENSION

    This study examines the comparative effectiveness of the KWL (Know-Want-Learned) and SQ3R (Survey, Question, Read, Recite, Review) methods in enhancing reading comprehension among 7th-grade students at SMPN 2 Ngadiluwih. The research was motivated by the lack of consensus on the superiority of both methods and the need to account for classroom dynamics and student motivation, factors often overlooked in prior studies. Participants included 68 students, divided into two groups: an experimental group (KWL) and a control group (SQ3R), with reading comprehension scores as the dependent variable, measured via a 20-item multiple-choice test. The objective was to compare the impact of both methods while identifying external factors such as student engagement and teacher competency. A quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test revealed significant improvements in reading comprehension for both methods. However, no statistical difference was found (p-value = 0.914). Data analysis using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test, homogeneity test, and independent t-test in SPSS 27 confirmed that implementation success was influenced by the classroom environment, such as the presence of peer tutors in the SQ3R group, which fostered a conducive learning atmosphere. The study concludes that the KWL method is suitable for simpler texts with high student motivation. In contrast, the SQ3R method is more effective for in-depth analysis with structured guidance. Practical implications include recommendations for teachers to combine both methods based on student needs, the necessity of research-based reading strategy training, and future exploration of technology integration in pedagogical approaches

    History Behind Diversity: Muslim and Hindu Relations in East Cakranegara Village, West Lombok

    This study aims to examine the history of diversity in Lombok, especially in East Cakranegara Village, then explore more deeply related to the relations that exist between Muslim and Hindu communities in the village. Cakranegara is one of the areas in West Lombok that has a diverse population. This is inseparable from the history of the Karangasem kingdom that once ruled Lombok. Religious pluralism reflected in the activities of the community in East Cakranegara Village shows that harmony is established not without reason but there is an underlying history, so it is necessary to conduct further research on how the dynamics of society are established in the midst of differences in beliefs between religious communities. It will certainly affect the knowledge of the community that is able to foster tolerance, tolerance, and empathy that makes people live in harmony amid differences.  This research uses historical research methods that include heuristics/source collection, source verification/critique, interpretation, and historiography. The results of the discussion of this paper explain that the interaction between Muslims and Hindus is well established, as evidenced by the activities they do together during the religious ceremonies of each religion

    Sufi Orders in the Colonial Era: An Analysis of Their Urgency and Impact

    There are several important points in this paper, including: the role of the tarekat in the spread and development of Islam in the Dutch East Indies, the reaction of the indigenous people to the emergence of the tarekat in the Dutch East Indies and the response of the Dutch colonial government to the tarekat which became the driving force towards independence. This study applies the library research method with a historical approach. Based on the results of the analysis carried out, the researcher concluded that the tarekat during the colonial period had a fairly important place and role for the indigenous people and elites, because it was not only a space for the spread and development of Islam in the Dutch East Indies but in this period the tarekat succeeded in suppressing the hegemony of the colonial government and became the driving force for Indonesian independence

    APPLICATION OF PROJECT-BASED LEARNING ASSISTED BY MICROSOFT MATHEMATICS TO IMPROVE STUDENTS' MATHEMATICAL REPRESENTATION ABILITY

    This study examined the effect of Project-based Learning (PjBL) assisted by Microsoft Mathematics on students’ mathematical representation ability. A quasi-experimental design with a posttest-only control group was employed in two tenth-grade classes at a senior high school in Kolaka Regency. The experimental group received PjBL with Microsoft Mathematics, while the control group was taught conventionally. Data were collected through a representation test, a questionnaire, and an observation sheet, and analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics. Results showed that the experimental group achieved a significantly higher mean score (81.17) than the control group (60.19), with a mean difference of 20.99 points (p < 0.05). The questionnaire findings revealed very positive student perceptions, indicating that Microsoft Mathematics was easy to use, helpful in understanding concepts, and improved problem-solving skills, while also fostering interest and independence. Observation confirmed that PjBL was implemented effectively: teachers provided clear guidance, students designed projects, collaborated, and presented outcomes through various representations using Microsoft Mathematics. These findings demonstrate that combining PjBL with technology strengthens students’ mathematical representation ability and enriches learning. The study implies that technology-supported project learning can serve as an effective model for promoting meaningful, engaging, and skill-oriented mathematics education in secondary schools.Penelitian ini mengkaji pengaruh Project-based Learning (PjBL) berbantuan Microsoft Mathematics terhadap kemampuan representasi matematis siswa. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuasi-eksperimen dengan kelompok kontrol posttest-only pada dua kelas X di salah satu SMA di Kabupaten Kolaka. Kelompok eksperimen mendapatkan pembelajaran PjBL dengan Microsoft Mathematics, sedangkan kelompok kontrol diajar secara konvensional. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes representasi, angket, dan lembar observasi, kemudian dianalisis dengan statistik deskriptif dan inferensial. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kelompok eksperimen memperoleh skor rata-rata yang secara signifikan lebih tinggi (81,17) dibandingkan kelompok kontrol (60,19), dengan selisih rata-rata 20,99 poin (p < 0,05). Temuan angket menunjukkan persepsi siswa yang sangat positif, bahwa Microsoft Mathematics mudah digunakan, membantu dalam memahami konsep, meningkatkan keterampilan pemecahan masalah, sekaligus menumbuhkan minat dan kemandirian. Hasil observasi menegaskan bahwa PjBL terlaksana secara efektif: guru memberikan arahan yang jelas, siswa merancang proyek, berkolaborasi, serta mempresentasikan hasil melalui berbagai bentuk representasi dengan Microsoft Mathematics. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa menggabungkan PjBL dengan teknologi dapat memperkuat kemampuan representasi matematis siswa dan memperkaya pembelajaran. Penelitian ini menyiratkan bahwa pembelajaran berbasis proyek yang didukung teknologi dapat menjadi model efektif untuk mendorong pendidikan matematika yang bermakna, menarik, dan berorientasi pada keterampilan di sekolah menengah

    Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan multimedia pembelajaran berbasis Mobile Augmented Reality (AR) yang valid, praktis, dan efektif guna meningkatkan literasi digital siswa sekolah dasar. Metode penelitian dan pengembangan ini menggunakan model Borg & Gall yang meliputi tahapan: penelitian dan pengumpulan informasi, perencanaan, pengembangan produk awal, uji coba, revisi produk, serta implementasi. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas V Sekolah Dasar Negeri Sumbertaman 2 Kota Probolinggo yang menjadi pengguna utama media AR. Teknik pengumpulan data meliputi observasi, wawancara, angket, serta tes literasi digital yang diberikan sebelum dan sesudah penggunaan multimedia AR. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media pembelajaran berbasis Mobile AR yang dikembangkan efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan literasi digital siswa, ditandai dengan peningkatan skor yang signifikan pada aspek pemahaman dan keterampilan digital pada materi luas daerah bangun datar. Selain itu, siswa dan guru memberikan respons positif terhadap penggunaan media ini sebagai sarana pembelajaran yang menarik, interaktif, dan sesuai dengan karakteristik siswa sekolah dasar. Kesimpulannya, multimedia berbasis Mobile Augmented Reality dapat menjadi alternatif inovatif dalam mendukung pembelajaran literasi digital pada materi luas daerah bangun datar di sekolah dasar. Temuan ini diharapkan dapat menjadi acuan dalam pengembangan media pembelajaran berbasis teknologi pada pembelajaran matematika di sekolah dasar.

    BAGAIMANA MAHASISWA MENGGUNAKAN PETA KARNAUGH DALAM MEMINIMASI FUNGSI BOOLEAN?

    Sejauh ini belum banyak penelitian pada topik minimisasi Fungsi Boolean. Penelitian studi kasus ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis performa mahasiswa dalam menggunakan peta Karnaugh dalam menyelesaikan permasalahan minimisasi fungsi Boolean. Sebanyak 42 mahasiswa dari program studi Pendidikan matematika di salah satu perguruan tinggi di Jakarta dipilih secara convenience sebagai partisipan dalam penelitian ini.  Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan administrasi tes. Analisis artefak atau lembar jawaban partisipan dilakukan untuk melihat ketepatan jawaban, pembuatan diagram, dan proses pengelompokkan yang dibuat. Berdasarkan hasil analisis tersebut, hanya sekitar 26% partisipan yang dapat meminimisasi fungsi Boolean dengan tepat. Selain itu, ditemukan bahwa faktor pendukung dan penghambat keberhasilan partisipan dalam menyelesaikan permasalahan minimasi fungsi Boolean dengan menggunakan Karnaugh Map adalah bergantung pada ketepatan penyusunan diagram dan proses pengelompokkan. Penyusunan diagram yang tepat ternyata belum tentu mendukung proses pengelompokkan yang tepat, akan tetapi pengelompokkan yang tepat didasari diagram yang tepat. Pembelajaran pada topik ini perlu memperhatikan factor-faktor pendukung dan penghambat ini agar kesulitan mahasiswa dapat diminimalisir

    PENGEMBANGAN "AURABARU" BERBASIS ANDROID UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN SPATIAL SENSE SISWA

    Bangun ruang seringkali dipandang oleh siswa sebagai materi yang menantang. Tantangan yang sering dihadapi adalah terkait pemahaman, persepsi, dan memanipulasi objek bangun ruang. Tidak dapat disangkal bahwa hal ini mempengaruhi keterampilan persepsi spasial siswa. AURABARU, media pembelajaran berbasis android, hadir sebagai alternatif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan spatial sense siswa. Metode Research and Development (R&D) digunakan untuk melakukan penelitian ini dengan model pengembangan ADDIE. Subjek penelitian kelas V dengan jumlah 33 siswa, yang dilaksanakan di SDS Nurul Iman. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui angket 2 ahli materi (dosen matematika), 1 ahli media (dosen pendidikan dasar), pretest-posttest, respon guru dan siswa, wawancara, dan observasi. Untuk media AURABARU berbasis android rata-rata temuan validasi ahli materi sebesar 92,00% (sangat layak) yang mencakup keakuratan materi, presentasi, dan evaluasi. Sedangkan rata-rata temuan validasi media 90,67% (sangat layak), yang mencakup pada aspek desain, pembelajaran, dan aspek media. Sedangkan respon guru sebesar 100,00% (sangat layak), rata-rata respon siswa sebesar 88,42% (sangat layak). Media AURABARU berbasis android dinyatakan efektif berdasarkan hasil analisis pretest-posttest menggunakan uji paired sample t-test, diperoleh nilai signifikansi (2-tailed) sebesar 0,001<0,05 dalam meningkatkan kemampuan spatial sense siswa. Building space is often seen by students as challenging material. The challenges that are often faced are related to understanding, visualizing and manipulating spatial objects. It cannot be denied that this affects students' spatial perception skills. AURABARU, Android-based learning media, is here as an alternative to improve students' spatial sense abilities. The Research and Development (R&D) method was used to conduct this research with the ADDIE development model. The research subjects were class V with a total of 33 students, which was carried out at SDS Nurul Iman. Data collection was carried out through questionnaires from 2 material experts (mathematics lecturer), 1 media experts (basic education lecturer), pretest-posttest, teacher and student responses, interviews and observations. For Android-based AURABARU media, the average material expert validation findings were 92.00% (very feasible) for material accuracy, for presentations, and for evaluation. Meanwhile, the average media validation findings were 90.67% (very feasible), in the design aspect, study and in the media aspect. While the teacher response was 100.00% (very feasible), the average student response was 88.42% (very feasible). The Android-based ARABARU media was declared effective based on the results of pretest-posttest analysis using the paired sample t-test, a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.001<0.05 was obtained in improving students' spatial sense abilities

    From Hill to Residential Space, Meteseh-Semarang 1987-2000: Transformation of Suburban Space

    This study aims to produce a narrative about the process of suburban spatial transformation that occurred in Meteseh-Semarang from 1987 to 2000. The area that was originally hills and agricultural fields changed into a residential area along with increasing urbanization and urban expansion. The increasing need for housing drove this change, the influx of property capital, and spatial planning policies that opened up access to development in suburban areas. This study uses a historical method consisting of heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography using primary sources from Suara Merdeka, Abadi, and Analisa newspapers to reveal the social, economic, and political dynamics that influence the conversion of land from agrarian to residential, and its impact on the local community. The study results show that urbanization in Meteseh changes the physical landscape and triggers social dislocation, spatial segregation, and inequality of access between old residents and newcomers. These findings confirm that the development of suburban areas cannot be separated from market logic and the dominance of formal and informal actors in the production of space. Therefore, this research contributes to understanding the social history of urbanization and the urgency of more inclusive and equitable urban planning

    Hotels in Medan During the Colonial Era

    This study aims to examine the role of hotels in Medan during the colonial period, not only as places of accommodation but also as centers of social and cultural activities. The research uses a qualitative method with a content analysis approach, intended to draw conclusions based on historical data while considering the socio-cultural context of the time. The findings reveal that colonial-era hotels in Medan played a significant role in social life, serving as venues for gatherings, parties, and events attended by various elite groups such as colonial officials, entrepreneurs, and community leaders. Although many of these hotels no longer exist, their architectural and historical legacy continues to influence the development of the hospitality industry in Medan today

    ANALISIS PENCEMARAN LIMBAH MIKROPLASTIK PADA BEBERAPA JENIS IKAN DI MUARA SUNGAI KENYAMUKAN SANGATTA, KABUPATEN KUTAI TIMUR

    Microplastics are plastic particles smaller than 5 mm that originate from anthropogenic activities or environmental degradation. The estuarine waters of the Kenyamukan River in Sangatta, East Kutai Regency, are highly vulnerable to microplastic contamination due to intensive local activities such as fishing port operations, residential settlements, docks, and tourism sites. This study aimed to analyze the types and forms of microplastics found in several fish species inhabiting the estuarine area. The research employed a descriptive–analytical approach, with sampling conducted from March to May 2025. Fish organs analyzed included the gills and digestive system, which were extracted using NaCl solution, 10% KOH, and 30% H₂O₂, followed by observation under a stereo microscope. The results revealed the presence of microplastics in goatfish (Parupeneus indicus), spotted scat (Scatophagus sp.), rabbitfish (Siganus guttatus), and golden snapper (Lutjanus johnii). The identified microplastic types consisted of fibers (52%), fragments (27%), films (12%), and pellets (9%), with a total of 173 particles. The microplastic sizes ranged from 0.0012 mm to 0.1399 mm and exhibited various colors, including black, red, yellow, blue, green, transparent, orange, and pink. These findings indicate a high level of microplastic contamination in the Kenyamukan River estuary, posing potential threats to the aquatic ecosystem and the trophic food chain.Mikroplastik merupakan partikel plastik berukuran kurang dari 5 mm yang berasal dari aktivitas manusia maupun degradasi lingkungan. Perairan muara Sungai Kenyamukan di Sangatta, Kabupaten Kutai Timur berisiko tinggi tercemar mikroplastik karena merupakan kawasan yang terdapat pelabuhan perahu nelayan, aktivtas nelayan, perumahan penduduk, dermaga, serta daerah pariwisata. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis jenis dan tipe mikroplastik yang terdapat pada beberapa jenis ikan yang hidup di kawasan tersebut. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif analitis, dengan pengambilan sampel dilakukan pada bulan Maret hingga Mei 2025. Bagian tubuh ikan yang dianalisis meliputi insang dan sistem pencernaan, yang diekstraksi menggunakan larutan NaCl, KOH 10%, dan H2O2 30% kemudian diamati menggunakan mikroskop relife. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mikroplastik ditemukan pada ikan jenggot (Upeneicthys spp.), ikan kiper (Scatophagus argus), ikan baronang (Siganus canaliculatus), dan ikan kakap tompel (Lutjanus johnii). Jenis mikroplastik yang teridentifikasi meliputi fiber (52%), fragmen (27%), film (12%), dan pelet (9%) dengan total keseluruhan sebanyak 173 partikel. Ukuran mikroplastik terkecil yang ditemukan adalah 0,0012 µm, sedangkan ukuran terbesar mencapai 0,1399985 µm. Mikroplastik yang ditemukan berwarna hitam, merah, kuning, biru, hijau, transparan, oranye, dan pink. Hasil ini menunjukkan tingginya kontaminasi mikroplastik di muara sungai yang berpotensi mengancam ekosistem perairan dan rantai makana
