Land of Hope: British Colonization in New Zealand (1840-1855)
New Zealand was initially a refuge for British convicts from Australia and was regarded as a land of hope for rebuilding their lives. Over time, however, New Zealand was inhabited not only by convicts but also by various other groups seeking economic opportunity and a new livelihood. This development prompted the British government to establish a colonial state in New Zealand in 1840, appointing William Hobson as its first governor. This study aims to examine British colonization in New Zealand, encompassing the Treaty of Waitangi and the early formation of the colony, New Zealand’s transformation into a British crown colony, and the situation in New Zealand between 1852 and 1855. The research employs the historical method, which consists of several stages: topic selection, source collection (utilizing heuristics), verification (external and internal criticism), interpretation (analysis and synthesis), and historiography. The findings suggest that the need for territorial expansion and competition with France contributed to the establishment of a British colonial state in New Zealand. The colony of New Zealand was formally established through the Treaty of Waitangi, signed by British representatives and Maori chiefs. In 1841, New Zealand officially became a crown colony, meaning that it possessed a structured system of colonial governance under a governor with authority comparable to that of other British colonies worldwide. CULTURAL ANALYSIS: THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SIGN LANGUAGE SKILLS WITH DEAF SELF-IDENTITY
Deaf culture is a significant aspect of social and cultural studies, particularly in relation to the Deaf community as a group with unique identities, values, and cultural practices. In the Deaf community, sign language is not only the primary means of communication but also a critical foundation that shapes both individual and collective identities. Mastery of sign language influences how Deaf individuals understand themselves, interact with their surroundings, and strengthen solidarity within their community. This study focuses on the relationship between sign language proficiency and the development of self-identity among Deaf individuals. The research employs a quantitative approach involving 52 respondents from the Deaf community residing in Jakarta and its surrounding areas. Data was collected using a questionnaire designed to measure sign language proficiency and the self-identity of Deaf individuals. The analysis results indicate a significant positive correlation between the two variables, with a Pearson correlation coefficient value of 0.330 (p < 0.05). These findings suggest that improved sign language proficiency is associated with stronger self-identity among Deaf individuals. This research provides valuable insights into the role of sign language proficiency in shaping self-identity, as well as implications for the development of better educational programs and support for Deaf individuals. This research aims to increase public awareness of the value of sign language, not merely as a communication tool but as an essential component of Deaf culture and identity
PERAN SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING, FOMO, DAN BRAND AWARENESS SEBAGAI PENDORONG KEPUTUSAN PEMBELIAN PADA MIE GACOAN
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji dampak pemasaran media sosial (SMM) terhadap keputusan pembelian konsumen di antara konsumen Mie Gacoan di Jepara, dengan Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) dan kesadaran merek sebagai variabel mediasi. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Mie Gacoan Jepara dengan menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif. Survei daring dengan skala Likert digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data dari 120 responden. Metode pengambilan sampel yang digunakan adalah simple random sampling. Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) digunakan untuk menganalisis data dengan bantuan perangkat lunak SmartPLS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa SMM memiliki efek positif dan signifikan terhadap FOMO, kesadaran merek. FOMO dan kesadaran merek juga secara signifikan memediasi hubungan antara SMM dan keputusan pembelian. Penelitian ini dibatasi pada satu lokasi, cabang Mie Gacoan di Jepara, Ini akan membatasi penerapan temuan pada industri atau merek makanan lain. Penelitian ini berkontribusi pada pengembangan teori pemasaran digital dengan menyoroti peran FOMO dan brand awareness sebagai mediator antara SMM dan keputusan pembelian. Secara praktis, temuan ini memberikan wawasan yang dapat ditindaklanjuti bagi bisnis seperti Mie Gacoan untuk merancang strategi pemasaran media sosial yang lebih efektif, meningkatkan daya saing dan loyalitas konsumen dalam industri kuliner
TURNOVER INTENTION DENGAN PENDEKATAN BEBAN KERJA, LINGKUNGAN KERJA DAN KEPUASAN KERJA
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh turnover intention dengan pendekatan beban kerja, lingkungan kerja dan kepuasan kerja pada Hotel Grand Cempaka Resort & Convention Bogor. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah karyawan Hotel Grand Cempaka Resort & Convention Bogor tahun 2023 sebanyak 60 Karyawan. Pengambilan sampel yang berjumlah 60 karyawan dilakukan dengan sampel jenuh. Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah data ordinal dirubah menjadi data mentrik berskala interval dengan Method of Successive Interval (MSI). Analisis data menggunakan analisis deskriptif dan verifikatif, serta menggunakan analisis jalur (path analysis). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa beban kerja berpengaruh langsung dan negatif tethadap kepuasan kerja. Lingkungan kerja berpengaruh langsung dan positif terhadap kepuasan kerja. Beban kerja berpengaruh langsung dan positif terhadap turnover intenion. Lingkungan kerja berpengaruh langsung dan negatif terhadap turnover intention. Kepuasan kerja berpengaruh langsung dan negatif terhadap turnover intention. Beban kerja tidak berpengaruh tidak langsung dan positif terhadap turnover intention melalui kepuasan kerja. Serta, lingkungan kerja tidak berpengaruh tidak langsung dan negatif terhadap turnover intention melalui kepuasan kerja
CULTURAL ENGAGEMENT THROUGH E-MODULES: THE DEVELOPMENT OF LOCAL WISDOM BASED MATERIAL TO IMPROVE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS’ READING COMPREHENSION SKILLS IN ACEH
A narrative text E-Module based on Acehnese local wisdom has never been developed by any scholars, yet it is essential for material development in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) context at high school level to enhance students’ reading comprehension skills. The research process involved four stages: needs analysis, expert validation, implementation, and student response evaluation. The needs analysis involving 35 students revealed that learners required short, simple, accessible, and up-to-date texts, particularly folklores reflecting local wisdom. Expert validation indicated that the developed E-Module achieved a “very valid” category, with material validation scoring 96.7% and media validation scoring 94.6%. While the module was considered highly effective in improving vocabulary, inference, and comprehension skills, experts recommended minor revisions to better support independent learning and enrich multimedia features. The effectiveness of the E-Module was further confirmed through a paired sample t-test, which demonstrated a significant improvement between pre-test and post-test scores (t = -10.81, p < 0.05), with a mean gain of 26.57 points. Moreover, students’ responses were overwhelmingly positive, with 80%–89% strongly agreeing and 6%–14% agreeing across aspects such as ease of use, systematic arrangement, motivation, and contribution to reading comprehension. This study concludes that the developed E-Module is pedagogically sound, contextually relevant, and feasible for broader implementation in EFL reading instruction. PENGARUH PROMOSI PENJUALAN DAN HARGA TERHADAP KEPUTUSAN PEMBELIAN PADA CITRA OLEH-OLEH LAMPUNG
Kajian ini dilaksanakan guna menguji secara empiris Pengaruh Promosi Penjualan dan Harga terhadap Keputusan Pembelian Pada Citra Oleh-Oleh Lampung. Di era persaingan yang semakin intens, Perusahaan perlu menggunakan strategi pemasaran yang efektif dan harga yang kompetitif untuk menarik pelanggan. Studi ini dilakukan dengan metode kuantitatif melaui survei dengan melibatkan 98 Responden yang dipilih menggunakan purposive random sampling, data diolah menggunakan SPS 25. Uji penelitian dilakukan menggunkan uji validitas, Reliabilitas, normalitas, koefisien determinasi, uji regresi linear berganda, uji-F dan t. Hasil analisis menunjukan F hitung 612.684 > F tabel 3.940 sig 0,000 < 0,05 dapat diambil kesimpulan bahwa, promosi penjualan maupun harga mempengaruhi keputusan yang berkaitan dengan pembelian secara signifikan pada Citra Oleh-Oleh Lampung. Penelitian ini juga menyajikan rekomendasi praktis bagi UMKM lokal untuk meningkatkan efektivitas strategi pemasaran mereka. Selain itu, penelitian ini turut memberikan kontribusi pada literatur yang mengkaji pengaruh kombinasi promosi penjualan dan penetapan harga terhadap keputusan pembelian di pasar lokal yang memiliki karakteristik unik
STUDI KOMPARASI PEMIKIRAN AL-GHAZALI DAN IBNU TAIMIYAH TENTANG MEKANISME PASAR
Markets have an important position in the economy. Islam acknowledges the existence of a market mechanism on condition that the market can function perfectly. However, in reality, there are often market distortions caused by the seller's mistake. So from that, this study aims to clarify how Al-Ghazali and Ibnu Taimiyah think about the market mechanisms and regulation of the market mekanisms that exist at the moment. The methodology used in this writing is a qualitative method of library study, i.e. studying ideas and findings contained in articles or, journals, books, dissertations related to scientific information. The results of this study suggest that Al-Ghazali and Ibnu Taimiyah agreed on price setting, that is, that prices are fixed through the power of supply and demand, only in cases where prices rise due to the occurrence of unfairness and inequality of market mechanisms, then the government can interfere in setting prices
IMPLEMENTATION OF COLLABORATIVE LEARNING METHODS IN IMPROVING LEARNING OUTCOMES
Penelitian pembelajaran dengan metode Collaborative Learning ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa mata pelajaran IPS kelas VII A SMP Negeri 11 Kota Bengkulu. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah jenis penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK). Subjek penelitian ini adalah penerapan metode Collaborative Learning untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran IPS, sedangkan objek di dalam penelitian ini adalah guru dan siswa kelas VII. Teknik pengumpulan data yaitu tes, observasi dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data yaitu analisis tes dan analisis hasil observasi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode Collaborative Learning cocok dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa kelas VII. Peningkatan hasil belajar menggunakan metode Collaborative Learning dengan nilai rata-rata pra-siklus yaitu 66,39, nilai rata-rata siklus I yaitu 75,9 meningkat di siklus II yaitu 82,57. Nilai presentase ketuntasan siswa kelas VII A dengan menggunakan metode Collaborative Learning yaitu pra-siklus 30,3% , siklus I 60,6% meningkat 90,9% di siklus II.
EFEKTIVITAS ROUND ROBIN BRAINSTORMING BERBANTUAN WORDWALL DALAM MENINGKATKAN MOTIVASI BELAJAR
Pendidikan merupakan hal yang sangat penting dalam pembentukan sumber daya manusia yang berkualitas, dan motivasi belajar merupakan salah satu komponen utama yang mempengaruhi nilai peserta didik. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana motivasi belajar peserta didik di kelas XI SMA Negeri 2 Indralaya Utara dipengaruhi oleh penggunaan model pembelajaran kolaboratif round robin brainstorming yang didukung oleh game wordwall . Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen dengan menggunakan desain pretest-posttest yang hanya melibatkan satu kelompok. Untuk mengumpulkan data, kuesioner digunakan dalam mengukur motivasi belajar, serta observasi kelas untuk melihat proses pembelajaran. Analisis temuan menunjukkan peningkatan motivasi belajar yang cukup signifikan dengan adanya perbedaan skor antara pre-test dan post-test . Dengan menggunakan SPSS, pengujian statistik menghasilkan nilai thitung sebesar 23,7, yang lebih besar dari t tabel 2,07, dan koefisien determinasi diperoleh 98%. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran RBB sangat mempengaruhi motivasi belajar peserta didik. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, dapat dikatakan bahwa motivasi belajar dapat ditingkatkan dengan menggabungkan media interaktif seperti wordwall dengan pembelajaran kolaboratif. Untuk membuat peserta didik aktif dalam proses pembelajaran, pendidik disarankan untuk menerapkan lebih banyak model pembelajaran interaktif dan menggunakan media yang menarik
REIMAGINING ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING THROUGH MULTILITERACIES PEDAGOGY: A SCOPING REVIEW OF EMPIRICAL STUDIES (2015–2025)
Multiliteracies pedagogy addresses complex communication issues in the digital world by promoting diverse literacy practices, multimodal meaning-making, and critical engagement with texts. Many studies have explored how multiliteracies pedagogy is applied in language learning from multiple perspectives, yet comprehensive reports remain limited. To address this gap, this scoping review synthesizes empirical studies on the implementation of multiliteracies pedagogy in English language teaching across primary, secondary, and tertiary education. Guided by PRISMA framework, 526 records were retrieved from the Taylor & Francis database, selected for its extensive coverage of Scopus-indexed journals in humanities and applied linguistics. Based on predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria, 23 articles published between 2015 and 2025 were included in the final analysis. The analysis identified seven key themes: identity and cultural expression; multimodality and technology integration; multiliteracies and pedagogical innovation; power, equity, and resistance; language and academic literacy development; challenges in implementing multiliteracies pedagogy; and intercultural understanding and global English. Findings reveal that multiliteracies pedagogy supports learner identity, inclusivity, intercultural awareness, and academic development, while also indicating gaps in geographical coverage, primary-level research, and methodological diversity. This review complements previous studies by providing a cross-level synthesis of empirical research across different educational contexts.
