Location Conditionings of Logistics Centers as Central Units of National Logistics Network

    Get PDF
Next to sea ports, logistics centers constitute central units of national logistics network, which enable its connection to the networks of neighbouring countries and allow its incorporation into the logistics macrosystem of Europe. Logistics centers can be realized after various implementation models, which were discussed. This paper presents the nearest similar assemblies of logistics infrastructure outside Polish borders which can be used as joining elements with the national logistics network. An opinion was formulated on the function of logistics centers in the aspect of the growth of transport comodality, as stipulated by the EU, and restrictions resulting from the structure of national logistics network were pointed out

Management Capabilities Analysis of Aircraft Exploitation Process

    Get PDF
The following paper presents management aspects of aircraft exploitation process. The key element in planning connections network is including the necessity to perform technical services. The issue becomes complex when air carrier operates in a considerable number of airports whereas technical service can be effected only in few. It is important then to manage aircraft properly in order to achieve a high rate of technical efficiency

Traffic Safety Analysis in Silesia with Tram Communication Especially Included

    Get PDF
The article discusses the subject of road safety by means of the analysis of road traffic accidents with particular emphasis on accidents involving tram fleet in terms of the planned tramway investment program for the years 2008 - 2013 in Silesian Agglomeration. Due to the nature of the location of tracks in the road or in their direct neighborhood, accidents involving tram fleet are included in the majority of road accidents. This article presents a summary of road accidents involving the tram fleet, and their cost compared to all road accidents in the years 2006 - 2008 in Silesia

Project Risk Assessment Using Fuzzy Inference System

    Get PDF
The article focuses on the risk assessment of project. The risk assessment is a complexity decision making problem. The assessment risk of projects can be solved with Fuzzy Sets Theory. A Fuzzy Inference System is presented in order to risk assessment of the given project

Influence of the Demand Planning Process on Logistic System Reliability. Case Study

    Get PDF
Authors define the main elements affecting the right logistic system performance level and investigate the possible connections between demand process planning quality and logistic system reliability. Thus, known in the literature definitions of logistic system reliability are characterized. Later, an overview of some recent developments in the analyzed research area is provided. In the next point, authors present the main elements affecting the reliable and available logistic system performance. Finally, the paper is ended by the presentation of the obtained analysis results in comparison with the knowledge about the case companies' present condition

This publication contributes to the discussion on the integrated maritime policy of the state in the European Union. Key words: maritime economy, EU’s maritime policy, priority directions of Polish maritime policy, seaports, institutional determinants of maritime economy development

Using Simulation Approach in an Assembly Line Implementation Project: a General and Qualitative Feedback

    Get PDF
In companies, the simulation has been used for over thirty years through analytical support and has improved production, handling and logistics. Simulation tools are very frequent and support the analysis process for the design and control of operations management and distribution. With the recent development of supply chain management, firms are part of more complex supply chains. The modelization and the evaluation of the links of these chains are vital for overall performance and to reveal strategic and inter-organizational issues that may appear. The work described in this paper is the result of a study that was conducted as part of a project to establish a new assembly line in an existing plant. The main objective of this paper is to present a summary review of the simulation potential in the design and the management of an industrial process through feedback. The paper also attempts to highlight mistakes that can be made in such projects

In the summer of 2009, soon after the winners of the annual Safest Warehouse of the Year Awards were being lauded at an industry conference, journalist Marcel te Lindert wondered out loud in his regular column for the Dutch maga- zine Logistiek, why it was that there were more questions raised about safety issues than there were answers

Third Party Logistics Service Selection using Fuzzy Multiple Attribute Decision – Making System

    Get PDF
This study models the selection of third party logistics service provider (3PL) process considering comprehensive criteria and fuzzy nature of such problems. Criteria are identified and selected with respect to various aspects of logistics management, and existing vagueness in their behaviours and their relational preferences. Multiple attribute decision-making (MADM) approach and fuzzy methodology are applied. Based on a wide review of previous research, a fuzzy MADAM (FMADM) procedure is developed. Accordingly, especial algorithm in applying FMADM to 3PL selection problems is defined. A numerical example supports the developed procedure. Then, a real-world case study is explained and its 3PL selection problem is discussed. Results show reliability and efficiency of the model

Trends and Prospects Regarding the Commencement of Economic Activity in some ports in Selected Urban Centres along the E- 70 Waterway in the Lubuskie District

    Get PDF
This article deals with issues describing the conditions and chances of starting port activity in selected urban centres on the Polish section of the international E-70 waterway. In addition to the overall economic characteristics of the Lubuskie district, the economic conditions and an analysis of the communication network of road and rail transport of selected urban centres were thoroughly examined. Based on the analysis presented, the possibility of starting port activity in Drezdenko and Kostrzyn on Oder were examined. In the final part of the article, the concept of revitalizing the shipping operations of the Polish section of the waterway E-70 was presented
