Selected Options of Vulnerability Assessment – State of the Art in Literature Review
Get PDFThe paper deals with the selected aspects of vulnerability assessment of systems. Historically, the vulnerability is recognised as one of the important aspects of system properties – system quality. The wide utilization of vulnerability can be observed in the IT area. Some approaches to vulnerability assessment are based on experiences and empiricism. For some other works it is necessary to have a quantitative value used for expressing vulnerability. In this paper we have applied the methods of analytical research, information search and a synthesis. They serve to introduce selected approaches expressing system vulnerability. The attention is paid mainly to the environmental and critical infrastructure systems. The results are presented in the form of definitions, equations or graphs. All these alternatives are further usable for assessing critical infrastructure elements. The results are also suitable for deeper development of a safety research scientific discipline

Get PDFThis paper presents the analysis of the possibility of using Electronic Data Interchange system to support the realization of the production order process by the ERP system. This paper describes the essence of EDI systems with advantages and disadvantages arising from their use and briefly characterizes the essence of ERP systems. It also presents a general model of production order realization with the use of EDI, which consists of six phases - Order acceptance, Creating documentation, MRP, Production, Goods dispatch and Payment receipt. On this basis, it was found that EDI messages are a perfect complement to the ERP system in the realization of the production order process

Get PDFNew changes and a new way of obtaining EU funding emerged in the intermodal transport sector in 2004-2006 and 2007-2013.The new economic situation requires changes of the ways of obtaining EU funding to subsidise projects involving the development of intermodal transport in Poland. Intermodal transport projects are one type of investment projects that increase safety and promote environmentally friendly solutions in transport. The article is an analysis of the available sources of EU funding for intermodal transport projects. The objectives and priorities of funding projects within two financial perspectives are presented. The European Commission stated in its current "White Paper" as follows: "Railway is sometimes seen, particularly as far as freight transport is concerned, as an unattractive means of transport. However, certain examples of some Member States have shown that railway can offer high quality transport services". In fact, rail freight transport has undergone a large transformation in recent years. Simulation Research of Order-Picking Processes in High-Bay Warehouses
Get PDFIn the paper an effort to use a pre-defined simulation model of a high-bay warehouse was made. It was done in order to research dynamic changes of material-flow in such a logistics facility. The paper consists of brief information about research tools e.g. Siemens Tecnomatix® Plant Simulation software and the logistics facility designing method, pre-defined by author of the paper (the method considers supplementary option, which is the sub-optimisation of functional and spatial areas inside a warehouse being designed with using the method). In addition, phases of the simulation research procedure are briefly described in the paper. The simulation research procedure is defined by author of the paper and it especially consists of constructing and using any simulation model. Chosen results of the research are enriched by some conclusions. Besides, the paper contains suggestions about forthcoming considerations of the research matter
