The Role and Importance of Logistics in Agri-Food Supply Chains: An Overview of Empirical Findings

    Get PDF
This paper presents a survey of empirical literature on the role of logistics in the agri-food sector. The main objective of the paper is to systemise and comprehensively describe the knowledge and information derived from a large number of sources about the specifics of food supply chains in terms of logistics, with particular emphasis on agricultural enterprises. Moreover, taking into account the increasing environmental, social and ethical demands concerning Agri-Food Supply Chains, the article formulates challenges for logistics and future trends in its development. In conclusion, it proposes a definition of logistics for the agri-food sector

Development Opportunities for Public Transport Facilities in the Wroclaw Agglomeration on Selected Examples

    Get PDF
The construction of passenger stops of the railway transport has been proposed in order to operate the communication infrastructure of two housing complexes – the village of Mirków and the Residential Estate ‘the Four Seasons’ (Polish: ‘Cztery Pory Roku’), belonging to the agglomeration of Wroclaw. The possibility of the location of the stops within the existing infrastructure is considered. There are presented several variants of the solution to the track layout with passenger service facilities (platforms). The parameters are provided to use for the proposed railroad turnouts and the track pavement structure. In the case of the Estate ‘Four Seasons’ there are also discussed the conditions for the construction of the tram route enabling communication with the center of Wroclaw. The concept of the tram loop in terms of the location of the estate area and the geometric layout of tracks is presented as well

On the 4Ps & 4Cs of Green Logistics Marketing Mix

    Get PDF
The world is getting more polluted each day. Fortunately, consumers are now more aware and concerned about environmental issues. Customers are expecting the same sensitivity to the environment in both marketing and production strategies of companies. The main aim of this paper is to develop a framework for understanding the integration of green marketing concept with the marketing mix both in the form of 4Ps (price, place, promotion, product) and 4Cs (communication, costs, convenience, customer). This paper will deal with the environmentaly friendly measures to be taken by marketing organizations. In addition to the green marketing sub-mix, some important strategies, including green logistics and reverse logistics topics, are handled extensively with the aim of completing the framework of the green marketing

Social Aspects of Urban Logistics in the Context of CSR

    Get PDF
Changes in the economy are affecting the development of urban areas, as well as the attitudes and awareness within them. An important issue today is that of social aspects which not only relate to the essence of urban logistics, but also constitute one of the elements around which the concept of corporate social responsibility oscillates. This article addresses the relationships and common areas occurring between urban logistics and the concept of corporate social responsibility from the point of view of social factors

The Application of Simulation Methods in the Comparative Analysis of Car Spare Parts Distribution Systems

    Get PDF
Car spare parts are omnipresent in the modern world. They play a major role in business, maintenance and repairs. Car spare parts must be frequently provided in after-sales service. Customers of spare parts have great expectations in terms of their delivery and availability. Most important are short-term orders realisation and flexible services. The main aim of the paper is to consider two different distribution systems that occur at one entrepreneur’s. The reason of this consideration is to identify which of the distribution systems is more effective regarding the order completion time and more effective regarding the level of customer service. In case of realising these aims, the simulation models analyses are propose

Consideration of Individual Learning Styles in the Process of Professional Training of Future Air Traffic Controllers

    Get PDF
The approaches for improvement of the future air traffic controllers training efficiency according to their individual learning styles are considered. It is purposeful to use the P. Honey & A. Mumford’s criteria-based test for distribution of students into four basic learning styles. The role of air traffic controller-instructor in process of rating the training is considered

An Integrated Approach towards Building a Simulation Model Supporting the Management of the Passenger Transportation System. Part 1 - Theoretical basis.

    Get PDF
This article presents an integrated approach towards building a simulation model of the transportation network. The proposed method is based on the recommendations of the Blue Book for Sector of Public Transport in cities, agglomerations and regions issued by Jaspers (Joint Assistance to Support Projects in European Regions). It comprises six steps with such elements as econometric modelling, artificial neural networks and mathematical model. It is dedicated to developing simulation models for the purpose of picturing present situation and dependencies dominating in the transportation network, easily reflecting effects of potential modifications and providing forecasts for the future. The described hybrid method was verified in practice by building the simulation model which is presented in the next article in this series entitled: An Integrated Approach towards Building a Simulation Model Supporting the Management of the Passenger Transportation System. Part 2 – Case Study
