AbstractThe newest solutions in Polish Armed Forces are implemented gradually and focus mainly on soldiers combat readiness. Many concurrent processes occur, which proper analysis and interpretation could constitute command process and task realization support, however poor and standing (paper) record seems to be an obstacle in their modeling. Therefore the author of the article tried to depict the process of military technical objects exploitation based on archived data according to present methods of documents preparation, circuit and record, applicable in Polish Armed Forces. Based on that, the method of aircraft ships from military air base readiness research, powered by ARIMA model was proposed. Using empirical data of two years of exploitation, the identification of researched time series, and then a few models estimation was made. Finally, the best model was chosen and verified.

Globalization and Deglobalization – Costs and Benefits, Winners and Losers

Still at the end of the 20th and the beginning of the 21thcentury it was a common belief that the world had just entered a new civilisational paradigm, completely different from all the previous ones in the history of mankind. The new paradigm was called ‘globalization’ and although it had never been precisely defined the term stirred up a very animated dispute: there were fervent enthusiasts and fervent opponents of everything that was so inexactly defined as globalization. Both enthusiasts and opponents agreed what phenomena made globalization up, but the assessment of those phenomena was diametrically different; according to the enthusiasts globalization reduced famine in the world, stimulated development and growth, decreased unemployment, improved the quality of natural environment, created a new global democracy and was the only reasonable option for mankind; and according to the opponents globalization increased famine in the world, made development and growth stop or even diminish, aggravated unemployment, lowered the quality of natural environment, destroyed human solidarity, stimulated corruption and was a path to hell. The impact of globalization and deglobalization on different areas of economy and society is a topic of several discussions and publications

Maintenance in a passenger transportation company in Poland and in the Republic of South Africa

    Get PDF
Maintenance function of devices is now a critical element in the functioning of manufacturing enterprises. The situation is similar in the transport industry. The technical condition of the vehicles is dependent upon operational procedures that affect the quality of services, comfort and the amount of incurred operating expenses. The aim of this paper is to compare the standards in vehicle service companies which deal with passenger transport in Poland and South Africa. In this study particular attention is paid to the influence of the human factor (passenger expectations, cultural conditions, required standards) in the implementation of this service. The authors based their research on available literature, newspapers' articles, direct observation, surveys among Wroclaw’s inhabitants, interviews with the residents of Johannesburg and the management staff of transport companies

TRUST IN DIGITAL SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT

    Get PDF
Companies managing supply chains are increasingly facing a decision to migrate or start operating in the digital world. Gaining competitive advantage by supply chain management means sharing the information as the evidence of trust between partners. Digital Supply Chains are based on technologies that enable increasing competitiveness mainly by delivering information in real time simultaneously to many supply chain partners. However the type and range of the information shared indicates the level of trust. Research results show that partners in supply chain were sharing information about inventory and transport activities. These are the main areas of competing by logistics and supply chain management. The aspect of partnership and cooperation was also raised in the research. Cloud computing had been willingly used in Supplier Relationship Management, Customer Relationship Management and Customer Service Management processes by the respondents

The role of logistic enterprises in strengthening the resilience of supply chains

Abstract The paper discusses the role of logistic enterprises, including especially transport ones, in strengthening the resilience of supply chains. The research were carried out in the sector of metallurgic products distribution. The paper aims at building a model of strengthening the resilience of supply chains for the flow of products manufactured to order. The author proposed a research methodology involving the measurement of disruptions, the measurement of deviations, a statistical analysis and simulation modelling. In simulation modelling the author used the management system dynamics technique

The Reasons for the Implementation of the Concept of Green Port in Sea Ports of China

Increasingly, China is showing endeavours to understand the idea of sustainable development. This is evident in the policy of Chinese ports development, which assumes efforts to assign it, or at least to adapt it to conditions of the sustainable development. However, from the three optic of the sustainable development i.e. economic, social and environmental, the latter is the most visible in provisions of the policy assumptions of Chinese seaports. The purpose of this article is to point out the reasons of implementing environmental principles of the Chinese ports sustainable development. The relationship between the concept of sustainable development of the port and the green port has been characterized. The areas of a negative impact of the port on the environment are identified and described. Based on cases of Chinese ports, the key reasons why the concept green port is being implemented have been highlighte

Abstract Storage of zinc wastes is associated with a high risk of environmental pollution. The way to manage the problem is using  the waste materials in the transition process, the final product of which is the zinc oxide concentrate. Transition process is technologically complex and every failure to the discipline results in a large number of unscheduled stops. Such an issue was encountered by B. Recycling. An update of environmental regulations has forced a comprehensive modernization of the technology lines used. Implementation of new solutions brought the necessity of examination and evaluation of the effectiveness of the process. In the paper the analysis conducted for this purpose are described. The elements of TPM method were selected as the test method. The OEE, MTBF and MTTR values for the individual process lines and additionally for the most problematic subassemblies were determined basing on the research and collected data

Greenways Systems in Metropolitan Regions as the Alternative for Sustainable Transport Development

    Get PDF
Greenways as linear open spaces in the landscape, planned for multiple usage, can perform significant ecological and social functions as for example: increasing biodiversity, protecting water resources, urban flood damage reduction, wildlife protection, serving as recreational, easy accessed public spaces. Their linear configuration provides an opportunity to unify parts of metropolitan regions dispersed as a result of urban sprawl. Greenways constitute linkages across landscape patches in different planning scales (city, suburbs, exurbs and hinterland scales) for various uses compatible. They help to assist in the revitalization of urban derelict lands, and to change former industrial centres into mixed-use public open spaces oriented to tourism and recreation. The objectives of the paper are: to explore the concept of multi-function of greenways through studies of selected examples of metropolitan areas and to present opportunities to implement urban greenways in local and metropolitan scales. The case studies are analyzed in terms of: location and geographical environment, neighbourhood land, ecological, social and other functions (with emphasize on environmental sustainability). The research results include recommendation for ecologically and socially sensitive development of greenways as the alternative for sustainable transport in highly urbanized  environments
