New Methods for Air Traffic Controller Main Solution Taking Dominant Determination Concerning Their Attitude to Risk
Taking into account the influence of human factor on flight safety one may say that ICAO flight safety main concept components mutually influence each other. This is based on the perspective of “aviation personnel attitude to safe actions and conditions” as the main factor of flight safety. This attitude may be found with help estimate usefulness functions construction and analysis for aircraft flight norms values based on air traffic controllers indexes in decision taking tasks. One way to find the main solution is taking dominant that defines air traffic controller attitude to flight level norms violation as to risk (tending, indifferent, non-tending to risk) is with the help of a “risk premium” criterion. Historically, the criterion included a single variable point in estimate usefulness function. Two improved criteria that include several characteristic points of usefulness function are proposed. As a result of new criteria appliance the main solution taking dominant determination efficiency increased up to 18 %
Identification of the Most Important Sustainability Topics in Seaports
Preparing a sustainability report has become more and more popular among a wide range of industries, including shipping and seaports. For the majority of Polish ports preparing a formal CSR strategy is a new challenge. The aim of this article was to compare the way that selected European seaports chose to report and identify the most important topics of their sustainable activity. In order to answer the research questions the multi-case study of selected European ports was prepared. The strategy and identified topics in seaports that have prepared sustainability reports can be used in a benchmarking process. Such a comparison can help Polish seaports avoid mistakes in preparing such reports by themselves in the future. The analysis showed that the most important sustainability topics are connected with employment and air emissions. There were also themes specific for seaports activity such as maintaining the water depths. Involvement of the port stakeholders in prioritization process made the topics order suited all parties concerned in port operations
Data Mining Application in Air Transportation – a Case of Turkish Airlines
The paper presents an exemplification of data mining techniques in aviation industry on the basis of Turkish Airlines. The purpose of the paper is to present application of data mining on the selected operational data, concerning international flight passenger baggage data, in year 2015. Examined were differences in passenger and flight profiles. Firstly, two-steps approach allowed defining the number of clusters. Secondly, K-means clustering were applied to divide data into a certain number of clusters representing the different areas of consumption. Results can contribute to higher efficiency in decision making regarding destination offer and fleet management
The Analysis of the Consumer Satisfaction with the Quality of Logistics Services in the DPD Company
Customer service is one of the leading elements of modern logistics. The issues connected with the quality of services as well as to the level of customer service are the subject of interest of many researchers. Based on the literature of the subject, it can be safely stated that the most of the available papers focus on the theoretical aspect of this matter. Therefore, in the following work one can see an attempt of presenting the process of implementing logistic customer service based on one of the leading courier companies in Poland. Dynamic Parcel Distribution (hereinafter referred to as DPD) is a company that owns nearly 30% of shares in the Polish courier market. The significant position of the national leader in the courier service business obliges the company to conduct the responsible and efficient customer service that is adjusted to the demands of the buyers. The purpose of this study was to investigate how logistic customer service improves the relationship between company and its customers. The evaluation of research findings will result in proposing solutions that will aim to improve the processes connected with the customer service in the DPD Company
SITUATION IN UKRAINE AS A THREAT TO INTERNATIONAL SECURITY (Part One)
Summary: Recent events in Ukraine related to Russia’s impact on some regions of this country, raised concerns in the international security environment, not only focused on this region, but in a broader, international aspect. Complex internal situation of Ukraine, as well as Kremlin’s aspirations to constant strengthening its position as a major player on the international politics stage, caused a stalemate in a resolution of such serious problem that is jeopardizing the security of not only Ukraine, but international as well
Pomeranian Metropolitan Railway as the Element of Regional Logistics
The development of a region depends on a number of factors. One of them is a well-functioning logistics, which in this context can be named as the logistics of the region. Due to the fact that the literature deals with the problem of logistics of regions to a small extent on the one hand, and on the other hand at the same time one of the major investments treated as an essential element of logistic system in Pomeranian Region, i.e. Pomeranian Metropolitan Railway, has been just recently completed, a great opportunity to study an impact of the element on the regional development has appeared. The results of the study show that the Pomeranian Metropolitan Railway has contributed to the liquidation of the unbalance between logistically highly developed Tricity (Gdansk, Sopot, Gdynia) and poorly developed area of Kashubian sub-region resulted mainly in better transportation access for inhabitants, as well as higher logistic service level for the Gdansk Airport
Psychological factors affecting driving as an important element in the examining and training of professional drivers
The article presents the psychological conditioning of working in the profession of driver. Important features of the psychological tests described in the transport regulations and other aspects important for road safety are indicated. Knowledge of these conditions is necessary not only for transport psychologists but also for trainers and drivers preparing themselves to work as a professional driver
Innovative aircraft in air transport industry – a comparative analysis of Airbus and Boeing
The purpose of the paper is to examine product innovation enabling to achieve higher fuel efficiency by its lower usage per unit, introduced by two leading competitors on the market of narrow- and wide-body aircraft, which are Airbus and Boeing. Discussed is technological, economical and environmental impact of product innovations. A method includes a mathematical formula to calculate fuel usage per Available Seat Kilometer (ASK). Presented is average fuel consumption for chosen models of Airbus and Boeing as closest competitors. Result of the study is to indicate the most competitive aircraft of Airbus and Boeing accordingly, which are more fuel efficient in average estimates and contribute to lower emissions, as externalities to natural environment. Indicated aircraft types can be recommended for airlines in context of economical efficiency in viewpoint of lower exploitation cost and effective fleet management
