Life and Faith of the Children of God, in St. Thomas Aquino

    No full text
We make a historical analysis of the texts of Thomas Aquinas, on a subject that he did not deal with systematically but that is permeating his doctrine, and that the recent Magisterium has highlighted: faith leads to a way of acting as children of God. God, give light to the intelligence and strength to the heart. We will see that this process of divinization is carried out in the sacraments and virtues, to participate in the life of Christ and through him, in his divine filiation; to be able to pray the Our Father with him, participating in his sentiments, and also in his cross and beatitude.

Prevalence and cost of hospitalized patients with asymptomatic COVID-19 in 2020 in Spain

Introduction: COVID-19 transmission has been characterized by the presence of asymptomatic patients. Additionally, most studies evaluating costs focus on symptomatic COVID-19 cases. Objective: To describe the prevalence, characteristics, and costs of asymptomatic COVID-19 cases at admission in Spanish hospitals in 2020. Methods: A nationwide study was performed, and data of hospitalized patients were collected of the Minimum Basic Data Set in Spain during 2020. Patients with COVID-19 codes as a primary and as a secondary diagnosis at admission were selected. Variables collected included age, sex, length of stay, in-hospital death, admission, length of stay and death in intensive care unit, mechanical ventilation and ventilatory assistance. COVID-19 related hospital costs were calculated using diagnosis-related groups from the Minimum Basic Data Set. Patients and costs were disaggregated by sex, age group, intensive care unit admission and epidemic wave (first or second) and main diagnosis. Results: A total of 14,742 patients were admitted with asymptomatic COVID-19 in Spanish hospitals representing 6.35% of all COVID-19 admitted patients. The total cost of admissions with asymptomatic COVID-19 was e105,933,677.6 with a mean cost per patient of e7,185.8 with higher mean cost in the first wave despite only 2.7% of cases were found during that time. Based on primary diagnosis, the higher number of cases of asymptomatic COVID-19 were found in “Pregnancy, childbirth and the puerperium” followed by “diseases of the circulatory system”. Conclusions: There was a high prevalence of asymptomatic cases during screening at admission process in Spanish hospitals in 2020. The highest number of cases was found among the group of “pregnancy, childbirth, and puerperium” followed by “diseases of the circulatory system.” The higher costs might be due not only to the main pathology at admission but to the associated healthcare provisions needed in case of positive COVID-19 testing

Systemic Approach to Entrepreneurial Identity and Its Educational Projection

Although it has acquired an extraordinary social diffusion, entrepreneurial education has a certain lack of definition associated with its conceptualisation and meaning. It seems clear that entrepreneurial education is linked to the economic sphere, but it is not limited to the productive sector. The idea of entrepreneurial education has been progressively enriched, being linked to the development of skills for personal growth and social progress. Further clarification of the meaning and scope of entrepreneurial education is, therefore, needed. Thus, it is relevant to analyse entrepreneurial identity in the context of personal identity via the theoretical–explanatory investigation of a model developed in two phases. A critical analysis leads us to study the different factors that intervene in the configuration of this identity in an attempt to construct a systemic map of entrepreneurial action. Between the private and the public, entrepreneurs seek new ways of facing the challenges of our times, trying to find new ways of regenerating the links between individuals and institutions and with society in general. In this sense, we show how entrepreneurial educational ecosystems acquire relevance insofar as they consider the subject as the principle of action rather than merely the result of various contextual factors

    Spreading Organised Hate Content

    No full text
Hate and disinformation often go hand in hand, and there are organisations dedicated to spreading them and influencing public opinion. The aim of this chapter is therefore to expose the forms of hate-mongering and one of its means of penetration, disinformation, as well as the techniques used to spread it and the measures taken to counter it. It should be remembered that behind these hate-creation techniques, there are companies and even government systems that have perfected and have the means to achieve their goals. These techniques and forms are used internationally, but are particularly widespread in European and Mediterranean countries, especially around issues such as immigration. The aim is to polarise societies by exploiting fissures and divisive issues. This is a dangerous game in which they end up being capitalised on by extreme and ultra-ideological groups in an attempt to change the culture. Even democracy itself is at risk

Analysis and good practices of the university guidance system for students with disabilities

In order to achieve real inclusion and participation of all the members of the university community, it is necessary to promote actions based on respect and recognition of rights. In this process, guidance for university students with disabilities has become particularly important. This study, within the framework of the project “Analysis of institutional and informal support and guidance systems for university students” (funded by the Castilla y León Regional Department for Education), focuses on describing and analysing the adequacy of support and guidance services for students with disabilities in Spanish public universities, by identifying good practices. The method used is based on documentary analy-sis and content analysis of the actions and services providing support and guidance for students with disabilities included in the verification reports on university degrees and the websites of the 47 Spanish public universities. For the data analysis, a system of categories was established using the MAXQDA program. The results were differentiated according to the designation, scope of action, objectives, procedures, recipients, stage of studies and specific actions regarding disability. The results show that all the universities analysed have support services for these students at the centre of guidance organisation and management. The main good practices of note involve the network of agents that this process co-ordinates, including foundations, companies and institutions, as well as the plans, projects and/ or programmes that encourage participation and that are adapted to the needs or difficulties that this group may encounter, especially those related to volunteering and adjustments.

Bibliometric study of the scientific production of music education in Spain (1978-2022)

The aims of this work have been to identify the main journals with the highest scientific production of Spanish authorship on music education, to establish a ranking of the most cited articles and Spanish authors with the highest number of scientific contributions and to determine the most researched trends in music education over time in Spain. For the configuration of the sample, all articles by Spanish authors published in the WoS and Scopus databases (peer-reviewed) from 1978 to 2022 were selected. The final sample reached 1001 articles, 1372 authors and 293 journals. The analysis of the information was based on productivity and dispersion indicators (Price’s, Bradford’s and Lotka’s bibliometric laws), impact indicators (JIF, H index) and collaboration, scientific mapping and the multivariate technique of multiple correspondence factor analysis. The results reveal an annual growth rate of music research by Spanish authors of 11.96 %, with higher growth starting 2000, which becomes exponential since 2010. An asymmetrical productivity was found in both journals and authors, with many articles being concentrated in a small group of journals and authors. It was also observed that the most relevant research trends in music education until 2022 were related to: methodology, teacher training, technology, creativity, innovation, performance, emotions, music therapy, interculturality and inclusive education.

The aim of this study was to analyse whether specialised musical training influences auditory discrimination, working memory, learning strategies and academic performance. Sixty students (30 with at least four years of musical training and 30 without) of the same socioeconomic level were compared. Significant differences were found between students with and without musical training in terms of learning strategies, working memory and academic performance (p= <.05). This study shows the benefits of musical training offered at specialised centres, the development of students’ cognitive skills and the contributions of neuroscience to improving professional practice

Generative Artificial Intelligence in Product Design Education: Navigating Concerns of Originality and Ethics

Image-generative artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly being used in the product design process. In this paper, we present examples of how it is being used and discuss the possibilities of how applications may evolve in the future. We discuss the legal and ethical implications of image-generative AI, including concerns about bias, hidden labor, theft from artists, lack of originality in the outputs, and lack of copyright protection. We discuss how these concerns apply to design education and provide recommendations to educators about how AI should be addressed in the design classroom. We recommend that educators introduce AI as one tool among many in the designer’s toolkit and encourage it to be used as a process tool rather than for generating final design deliverables. We also provide guidance for how educators might engage students in discussions about AI to enhance their learning

Optimal Target-Oriented Knowledge Transportation For Aspect-Based Multimodal Sentiment Analysis

Aspect-based multimodal sentiment analysis under social media scenario aims to identify the sentiment polarities of each aspect term, which are mentioned in a piece of multimodal user-generated content. Previous approaches for this interdisciplinary multimodal task mainly rely on coarse-grained fusion mechanisms from the data-level or decision-level, which have the following three shortcomings:(1) ignoring the category knowledge of the sentiment target mentioned in the text) in visual information. (2) unable to assess the importance of maintaining target interaction during the unimodal encoding process, which results in indiscriminative representations considering various aspect terms. (3) suffering from the semantic gap between multiple modalities. To tackle the above challenging issues, we propose an optimal target-oriented knowledge transportation network (OtarNet) for this task. Firstly, the visual category knowledge is explicitly transported through input space translation and reformulation. Secondly, with the reformulated knowledge containing the target and category information, the target sensitivity is well maintained in the unimodal representations through a multistage target-oriented interaction mechanism. Finally, to eliminate the distributional modality gap by integrating complementary knowledge, the target-sensitive features of multiple modalities are implicitly transported based on the optimal transport interaction module. Our model achieves state-of-theart performance on three benchmark datasets: Twitter-15, Twitter-17 and Yelp, together with the extensive ablation study demonstrating the superiority and effectiveness of OtarNet

Academic Stress and Music Therapy in Ecuador

The Academic stress has a close relationship between the educational and mental health contexts of a country. Likewise, this type of stress hinders the pedagogical process in students at different levels. After understanding the Ecuadorian context related to these elements in Ecuador, a proposed intervention is presented, focused in reducing academic stress levels in university students of an educational institution in the city of Quito, Ecuador. The project consists of 6 phases, within which 12 sessions of music therapy will be implemented using the non-verbal methodology of Benenzon and the GIM method. Additionally, it will have an evaluative and statistical component, based on a quantitative methodology, using the SISCO inventory of academic stress. It is expected that the application of music therapy sessions will reduce the academic stress levels in university students, and foremore, the proposal will serve as a reference for future intervention projects and academic research. Through this article, we aim to demonstrate that the use and application of music therapy in educational institutions is an accessible, effective, and inclusive alternative within a multicultural and contemporary society.
