The unjust of “coercive persuasion” in chilean criminal law: especially the case “Antares de la Luz”
In a world of freedom, cults must also have their space. However, some of these, as can happen with any other group, use a proselytism that can diminish or nullify the capacity of the will of its followers, and through this damage produce others in the same victim or use it against others. This dynamic has been called by the specialized literature as coercive persuasion, but its foundation does not lie in the fact that it is developed through a group, but rather that the group is a plus by which the problems of the victims have traditionally been known, while its unjust nature would lie in the attack on the capacity for free will. and therefore, can operate in any relationship. We will try to determine the criminal nature and the problems generated by its treatment with traditional models, observing how certain dogmatic delimitations can help the typological treatment and responsibility of each intervening.
This text addresses the conceptual and dogmatic differentiation of the perpetrator of conscience, the perpetrator by conviction and the enemy in the legal and dogmatic field. The connection between conscience and morality is highlighted in the author of conscience, arguing that his lack of compliance with the norm arises from a conflict between conscience and norm that leads in some cases to a socialization deficit, in certain cases attributable to a third party, especially in the perpetrator of conscience and in the enemy. The socialization deficit here refers to the individual's lack of integration into current regulations, which affects his or her ability to comply with legal regulations. This deficit may arise in special cases where the norm fails to guide the subject due to a normative counter-orientation, which grounds the application of the state of exculpatory necessity by eliminating or reducing the guilt of the individual.
Social Assistance in Franco’s Fascist Spain (1939–1975): A History of Social Control, Family Segregation and Stolen Babies
Es un capítulo del libro: Ioakimidis, V. & Wyllie, A. (2023). Social Work’s Histories of Complicity and Resistance
A Tale of Two Professions. Policy PressSocial work is often presented as a benevolent and politically neutral profession, avoiding discussion about its sometimes troubling political histories.
This book rethinks social work’s legacy and history of both political resistance and complicity with oppressive and punitive practices. Using a comparative approach with international case studies, the book uncovers the role of social workers in politically tense episodes of recent history, including the anti-racist struggle in the US and the impact of colonialism in Australia, New Zealand and Canada.
As the de-colonisation of curricula and the Black Lives Matter movement gain momentum, this fascinating book skilfully navigates social work’s collective political past while considering its future
Automatic classification of normal/AD brain MRI slices using whale-algorithm optimized hybrid image features
In recent years, the prevalence of Age-Related Illnesses (ARL) has been increasing among older individuals, and early recognition and treatment will result in better living conditions. It is well known that Alzheimer's Disease (AD) is among the ARD, and severe cases may result in dementia as well. It is the purpose of this study to propose a technique for distinguishing normal/AD brain MRI slices with improved accuracy utilizing the T2-modality. This scheme consists following phases: (i) Brain MRI collection and preprocessing, (ii) Deep feature extraction with the chosen scheme, (iii) Handcrafted feature extraction, (iv) Whale Algorithm (WA) based feature reduction and serial integration, and (v) binary classification using five-fold cross-validation. A total of 2000 MRI slices (1000 normal and 1000 AD class) are examined during this task using images collected from Alzheimer’s Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI). This study confirms that the proposed scheme provides a classification accuracy of > 98% when applied with the K-Nearest Classifier
The genre of PechaKucha presentations: Analysis and implications for enhancing multimodal literacy at university
ESP students need to develop their multimodal literacy to become literate in today’s professional spaces. For this purpose, ESP teachers should revisit pedagogy practices to best engage students in the navigation and construction of multimodal genres. As a case in point, we explore PechaKucha (PK) presentations. This multimodal genre consists of 20 slides, which are automatically advanced every 20 s. PK presentations entail a complex format that requires speakers to choose how to convey content, design suitable visuals, and engage audiences. The dataset for the study consists of 7 PK presentations delivered during a social event at an architecture conference. Adopting a multimodal discourse analysis lens, we analyse this set of PK presentations in terms of rhetorical structure and the way in which intersemiotic relations unfolded (synchronisation between speech and visuals and the modal density of slides). The analysis demonstrates that PK presentations entail an intricate multimodal composition consisting of three moves in which professional and personal narratives intertwine. The examination of intersemiotic relations reveals how speech and visuals interplay effectively to transmit meaning and engage the audience. The results of this study provide critical information to design a researchinformed pedagogy to enhance ESP students’ multimodal literacy

Crime, Violence and Well-Being
Latin Americans are exposed to high levels of violence associated to gangs, organized crime and even domestic violence. It is shown that victimization impacts negatively on the well-being of Latin Americans and that its impact is very large in the case of women. Exposure to victimization is concentrated in particular areas of the region; however, fear of crime is widely spread in many Latin American countries and it also impacts negatively on well-being. It is also shown that domestic violence has a very large impact the well-being of women
Anti-Diabetic Therapeutic Medicinal Plant Identification Using Deep Fused Discriminant Subspace Ensemble (D2 SE)
About 422 million people worldwide have diabetes, the majority living in low-and middle-income countries, and 1.5 million deaths are directly attributed to diabetes each year. According to the Botanical Survey of India, India is home to more than 8,000 species of medicinal plants. The natural medications with antidiabetic activity are widely formulated because they have better compatibility with human body, are easily available and have less side effects. They may act as an alternative source of antidiabetic agents. The fused deep neural network (DNN) model with Discriminant Subspace Ensemble is designed to identify the diabetic plants from VNPlant200 data set. Here, the deep features are extracted using DenseNet201 and the matrix-based discriminant analysis is adopted to learn the discriminative feature subspace for classification. To further improve the performance of discriminative subspace, a nearest neighbors technique is used to produce a subspace ensemble for final diabetic therapeutic medicinal plant image classification. The developed model attained the highest accuracy of 97.5% which is better compared to other state of art algorithms. Finally, the model is integrated into a mobile app for robust classification of anti-diabetic therapeutic medicinal plant with real field images
