Sustainable tourism and cultural heritage: a quantitative interdisciplinary approach based on visitor profiles

    Get PDF
This interdisciplinary quantitative study offers a comprehensive assessment of how visits to the Civil War shelters in Alicante, which have been rehabilitated and opened to the public, influence awareness of cultural memory heritage in an urban context. The framework of the FEDER Operational Program "Sustainable Growth 2014-2020", delves into how these spaces contribute both to sustainable urban de-velopment and to historical understanding in society. Through a retrospective longitudinal design, data from 407 visitors were collected and analyzed between August 2023 and January 2024, aiming to profile the visitors, their motivations, and their visitation patterns. Preliminary findings reveal a positive reception and an increase in awareness of the historical significance of the shelters, suggesting a substantial impact on the appreciation of memory heritage. The analysis provides key insights for managing cultural heritage by proposing enhanced strategies for the communication and promotion of historical legacy. This article is positioned at the intersection of tourism research and cultural heritage studies, exploring the links between culture, sustainable development and tourism through an inter- and transdisciplinary approach that encompasses both social sciences and administrative and business practices

Through this research work we intend to offer an analysis of recent legislation in order to know what is today the legal-civil protection of animals in Spain, through various mechanisms and innovative instruments that have been implemented in recent years. Well, first of all, we will see how after the reform operated by Law 17/2021, animals have already been expressly recognized as living beings endowed with sensibility; moving away, therefore, from the traditional concept that identified them as things. The above will help us, in a second part of our study, to examine the most recent Law 7/2023, a regulation whose purpose is not only to guarantee the welfare of animals but also to regulate the recognition and protection of their dignity by society; already understood in our spanish legal system as living beings within our environment of coexistenceMediante el presente trabajo de investigación pretendemos ofrecer un análisis de la reciente legislación en aras a conocer cuál es hoy la protección jurídico-civil de los animales en España, mediante distintos mecanismos e instrumentos novedosos que en los últimos años se han implementado.

Numerous studies point to the comorbidity between gambling disorder (GD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). However, there is a lack of research exploring how ADHD symptoms might influence psychological treatment outcomes for GD

Principal components approach of physiological and physical metrics collected through GPS technology in soccer referees

    No full text
The aim of this study was to define and classify the different physical and physiological performance metrics on national and non-national soccer referees (SRs) through GPS technology. Sixty SRs (age: 28.9 ± 4.9 years; weight: 70.2 ± 8.0 kg; height: 175.7 ± 5.5 cm) were tested using the 18 Hz global positioning system (GPS) (WimuPro, Realtrack, Almería, Spain). An exploratory factor analysis was performed using principal component analysis (PCA) on performance indicators with orthogonal rotation (VariMax). Thirteen metrics (total distance, distance covered at different speeds, maximum heart rate, and heart rate recorded in different zones) were integrated in three principal components, activation (PCA1), recovery (PCA2), and high intensity (PCA3). They represented 86% and 89% of total explained variance of the competition performance in national and non-national SRs, respectively. Distance covered at very high speed and heart rate between 80% and 89.9% of the maximum integrated the high-intensity principal component and were higher in non-national SRs. The main finding of this study was that it defined for the first time in the scientific literature the main components that discriminate physical performance between national and non-national referees, where high intensity metrics have greater weight in non-national referees. In addition, GPS technology together with PCA analysis were presented as useful methods to discriminate the most representative physical and physiological performance metrics in sports competition in SRs

Concentric memories, circular encounters, and post-Buddhist imaginations: contesting Dharamsala as ‘Little Lhasa’

    Get PDF
This paper analyses representations of Dharamsala, Tibetan capital in exile or capital of exiled Tibet, as a pool of signifiers for Tibetan exilic construction. Like Tibetan exile itself, Dharamsala carries the archival claim of preserving everything constructed as authentic about old Tibet. On the other hand, Dharamsala is also regarded as an avant-garde of Tibetan modernity. By focusing on Tenzin Tsundue’s short story ‘Kora. Full Circle’ (2002) and Ritu Sarin and Tenzing Sonam’s film Dreaming Lhasa (2005), I explore various representational trends that expose the inner paradoxes and ambivalences of Tibetan exilic identities at the turn of the twenty-first century. Following Anand’s model of deconstructing and analysing the etymological possibilities of the word Dharamshala, I look at the Tibetan exiled capital as a disputed centre, hosting both nostalgic narratives of reproduction and their very opposite: attempts to reformulate Tibetanness in innovative and disruptive ways

    Get PDF

(Don’t) be woke, my friend: ¿defensa de las minorías o tiranía distópica?

    Get PDF

Parkinson's Disease is a neurodegenerative disease that causes deterioration of the nervous system and, among the generality of symptoms it produces, the ability to speak in the person who suffers from it decreases. As healthcare professionals, caregivers, and individuals affected by Parkinson's Disease, your role in this intervention proposal is crucial. Together, we aim to rehabilitate the speech mechanisms impaired by the disease, enabling the affected person to express themselves orally in a comprehensible manner and function independently in their daily environment. The methodology used to recover these mechanisms is based on techniques developed by Thaut and Hömberg in what is called Neurological Music Therapy, an aspect of music therapy aimed at preserving or rehabilitating cognitive, motor and language dysfunctions caused by sudden injuries or neurological degeneration conditions. In the case of language dysfunctions, singing therapeutically involves, on the one hand, relaxation, breathing and vocal emission activities to improve phonation; on the other hand, exercises aimed at recovering the mobility of the articulatory organs for the adequate production of vowels and letters and, finally, rhythm, intonation, melody and accentuation activities to recover the expressiveness of speech.
