Emmett Cinque Irving (1982-2008) was born and raised in Wilmington, NC. He was shot in front of his home and the crime is still unsolved. He was a dedicated family man with one young daughter
Cathy Poulos and Mary Lou McEachern

Mary Lou McEachern (1941- 2012) hosted the Cape Fear Garden Club's Azalea Belle tea at her home for over twenty years. She was very active in community and civic organizations, especially the North Carolina Azalea Festival and the Cape Fear Garden Club. She and her daughter were the primary donors for the butterfly house at Airlie gardens. Cathy Poulos (1956- ) moved to Wilmington in 1978. She is an active member of the Cape Fear Garden Club and in 2007 was tour chairman. She is an artist, and one of her paintings was was chosen as the Official Commemorative Art for the 60th North Carolina Azalea Festival in 2006

Jean Rabon Price King (1929-2008) was born in Wilmington, NC. She was president of the North Carolina Sorosis 2005-2007. She was also a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy

George Theodore Poulos (1956- ) was born in Wilmington. Sarah Anderson and Cathy Poulos are both members of the Cape Fear Garden Club. Anderson is a Master Gardener with the Cooperative Extension Service
Casey Barth

Casey Barth (1990- ) was picked as a free-agent kicker for the Atlanta Falcons after the 2013 NFL Draft. He graduated from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, where he was an outstanding placekicker, kicking a school record 66 field goals, with a career percentage of .786. He was named to the Second Team All-ACC in 2009, and the 2010 Honorable Mention All-ACC team. He attended high school in Wilmington at John T. Hoggard High School, where he was ranked in the top 25 kickers in the country, and named to the Associated Press All-State football team as a kicker in his junior year. He is the brother of Connor Barth, also a star place-kicker currently with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

William S. Powell (1919- ), known as Bill, is a renowned North Carolina historian. He was born in Johnston County, NC and raised in Statesville, NC. Bill graduated from the University of North Carolina (UNC) in 1940 and enlisted with the U.S. Army during World War II. Once he returned to the United States, he earned degrees in History and Library Science from UNC.
Bill's long career in the state includes working for the North Carolina Department of Archives and History, Curator of the North Carolina Collection at UNC, and professor at UNC. He retired in 1986. Bill has made substantial contributions to the history of North Carolina, most notably including the following reference works: The North Carolina Gazetteer, The Dictionary of North Carolina Biography, Encyclopedia of North Carolina, and North Carolina Through Four Centuries
Sheila Boles

Sheila Boles (1954- ) graduated from Seventy First High School in Fayetteville, NC in 1972 and started at North Carolina State University, but transferred to the University of North Carolina Wilmington when she heard they were starting a girls' athletic program in compliance with Title IX. She was the first player at the school to receive a scholarship to play women's basketball. She was named MVP three times in basketball, as well as NAIA District 28 player of the year in 1976. She also wrote a weekly column for the Star-News on sports while attending UNCW, as well as playing on the volleyball team that captured the 1974 A1AW State Championship.
After college she went to work in the New Hanover County school system. She became the Trask Junior Varsity Boys Basketball Coach, and then varsity. She moved to Hoggard High School where over much resistance she was named boys basketball head coach, becoming the first woman in North Carolina to coach a boy's high school varsity team. She led the team to mutiple conference championships, and twice was selected mid-eastern 4A Basketeball Coach of the year. In 1999 she went on to become the Director of Athletics at Hoggard, the first female AD in New Hanover County. She was voted AD of the year in North Carolina in 2008. Coach Boles retired in 2008 but continues to give back to the community through her time and effort. She has been elected to the UNCW Athletic Hall of Fame as well as the Greater Wilmington Sports Hall of Fame. She has been honored by the Colonial Athletic Association as a CAA Legend

Victoria April Smith (1989- ) was a member of the award-winning John T. Hoggard Marching Band all four years of high school. The band participates in many band competitions and parades during the school year

Weston Theodore Poulos (1986- ), Catherine Michelle Poulos (1988- ) and Nathan Poulos (1992- ) went to John T. Hoggard High School. All of them, along with their father George Theodore (1956- ), were born in Wilmington, NC. All of the gentlemen attended North Carolina State University. Cathy Lynn (1956- ) and her daughter Michelle attended the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. Cathy is a member of the Cape Fear Garden Club
