David Ray Wells (1948- ) served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War era. He retired from the Brunswick Nuclear Plant (now part of Duke Energy) after 32 years of service
Wilmington City Council

Jones , Mayor B. D. Schwartz (1909-2001), City Attorney Cicero P. Yow (1914-1990), Councilman Ben B. Halterman (1925- ), Mayor Pro Tem John C. Symmes (1928- ). This city council served during a very turbulent time in Wilmington's history, during the un-rest of the Wilmington Ten riots and trial.
Claire Hughes attended what is now UNC Greesnboro. Herbert Borden Brand was a Major General during WWII, and one of the first graduates of New Hanover High School. Benjamin D. Schwartz and his brother William both served as Mayor of Wilmington. Ben Halterman recieved the order of the Long Leaf Pine in July 2009
