Method of moments for Zenga's distribution
The aim of this paper is to obtain the analytical solution to the
method of moments for Zenga's model (Zenga, M. M., 2010). First,
the central moments of Polisicchio's distribution are used to derive
the corresponding central moments for Zenga's model. Secondly, the
method of moments is applied to such central moments, and then the
analytical solution of the related system is obtained. These analytical
results are then compared with the numerical ones in Zenga et al.

Financial Literacy: The Role of the Local Context
In this article, we investigate the role of local factors associated with the financial literacy of Italian adults (no. 945). Using a multilevel regression model, together with the common socioeconomic and sociodemographic variables already used in previous studies, we also add certain environmental variables at the local level. We separately analyze the three indexes that define the OECD financial literacy index—Financial Attitude Index (FAI), Financial Knowledge Index (FKI), and Financial Behavior Index (FBI)—because they show a dynamic of their own in each region. Our findings confirm that the FKI and the FAI are associated to some extent with environmental traits, while the FBI is not. We conclude that not only the sociodemographic and socioeconomic conditions of individuals but also certain features of the regional context where they live have an impact on their financial literacy. Consequences for financial education programs are highlighte
Financial literacy: socio-demographic variables versus environment
In this paper, we investigate the environmental determinants of Financial Literacy (FL) among a sample of Italian adults (N=925). In addition to individual socio-economic and socio-demographic variables, we consider variables at the regional level. Results show that in Italy FL is linked to personal characteristics of the population, but it also associated to macro characteristics of the region of residence
Access to credit for SMEs after the 2008 financial crisis: the Northern Italian perspective
Small‐ and medium‐sized enterprises (SMEs) play a significant role in their economies as key generators of employment and income and as drivers of innovation and growth. The 2008 economic and financial crisis has had a negative impact on bank lending, and likely on SMEs' life. Through a sample of 166 Italian firms, this chapter tries to gain a better understanding of the access to credit by SMEs and to identify the main difficulties faced by SMEs when trying to raise their credit. It details a national perspective by studying Italian firms. The chapter measures the difficulties faced by Italian SMEs in obtaining financing, considering two periods, before (during the crisis) and after 2013. Instead of using arbitrary measures produced by classical methods, it uses the Rasch model that is able to convert raw scores into a linear and reproducible measurement
Decompositions by sources and by subpopulations of the Pietra index: two applications to professional football teams in Italy
In this paper two innovative procedures for the decomposition of the Pietra index are proposed. The first one allows the decomposition by sources, while the second one provides the decomposition by subpopulations. As special case of the latter procedure, the “classical” decomposition in two components (within and between) can be easily obtained. A remarkable feature of both the proposed procedures is that they permit the assessment of the contribution to the Pietra index at the smallest possible level: each source for the first one and each subpopulation for the second one. To highlight the usefulness of these procedures, two applications are provided regarding Italian professional football (soccer) teams
Assessing Gender Equality and Inclusivity: a Survey within the Italian Life Sciences Sector.
Despite recognized needs for women's full participation and fair leadership in political and economic decisions, notable gender gaps persist. This study examines gender equality, inclusivity, and opportunities in Italian life sciences companies. An ad hoc questionnaire was completed by HR professionals in this sector, capturing insights on women's roles, responsibilities, and seniority in management and on boards. It also aims to forecast the future integration of female leadership and assesses supportive company policies like flexible schedules, part-time options, remote work, and family-centric initiatives
Exploring the gender gap: A preliminary analysis of inclusivity in Italian life sciences industries
Ensuring women's full and effective participation and equal leadership opportunities at all levels of
decision-making in political, economic and public life is one of the key objectives of the United
Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Despite the progress of recent years, some
disparities between men and women still exist.
This study aimed to explore the current situation regarding some measures of gender equality in
companies in the life sciences sector in Italy.
The world of life sciences companies, medical devices, biotech, and homeopathy was studied from
the point of view of promoting equal opportunities, inclusion and equality. The objective was to
collect data about the current scenario to acknowledge the advancements already made and where
there is still room to improve.
An ad hoc questionnaire was created to investigate the presence of women in company management
teams and corporate boards, their roles, and their seniority. Besides, the study aimed to estimate the
forecasts for the inclusion of female figures within the management team and the presence of
company policies of attraction and facilitation aimed at female figures, such as flexible hours, part-
time, smart working or additional paid leave, but also forms of support for families for nursery
schools. This questionnaire has been distributed and addressed to personnel specialised in the
human resources of companies in the life sciences sector. The results will be analysed and
discussed
Company requirements and monetary evaluation in the Italian healthcare industry
During last years, many studies have been based on the possibility to give a monetary value for knowledge, skills and attitudes of a candidate during the recruitment process. This work carries out the evaluations of these requirements for individuals that through HR company have placed themselves in the phase of match with the different professional figures. This works will focus the attention on healthcare industry. Starting from data about job vacancies for this sector in Italy in 2017, the aim of the work is to carry out a monetary evaluation of the most important requirements. The analysed requirements have been chosen among a set of soft skills and join with the experience and two knowledge indicators. The methodology used for this work is the choice based conjoint analysis. Using this model, it is possible to identify the features of a candidate that mainly influence the entrepreneurs’ choice and the weight of these requirements in the wages. The use of a choice based conjoint model
allows to obtain partial utilities that representing the starting point to build a monetary re-valuation index. This index can determine the monetary variation associated with any change in the combination of the attributes of a job with respect to the actual revenue generated by that job
From unstructured data and word vectorization to meaning: text mining in insurance
By exploiting Natural Language Processing techniques we aim at grasping latent information useful for insurance to tune policy premiums. By using a large set of police reports, we classify medical and police reports based upon the profile of the people involved and according to the relevance of their content. At a second step, we match these risks with the customer profiles of a company in order to add new and relevant risk covariates to improve the precision and the determination of policy premiums
