Two new Achillea L. (Asteraceae) species from Turkey
Two new Achillea species, Achillea adenii Aytac \& M. Ekici and Achillea
baltai H. Duman \& Aytac sp. nov. of sect. Santolinoidea DC.
(Asteraceae), are described and illustrated as new species. A. adenii
grows at Babadag in Mugla Province (southwestern Anatolia), while A.
baltai grows at Aladaglar in Nigde Province. Diagnostic morphological
characters, which are useful in discriminating the two new species from
their close relatives, A. sintenisii Hub.-Mor., A. sipikorensis Hausskn.
\& Bornm., and A. armenorum Boiss. \& Hausskn., are presented. Some
notes on the ecology, pollen and seed morphology, conservation status,
and distributions of the new species and a key to related species are
also given
A new species of Astragalus (Fabaceae) from Turkey
Astragalus silifkeense Dinc, Aytac & Dogu sp. nov. (Fabaceae, sect. Astragalus Bunge) is described as a new species from Silifke (Mersin Province), in southern Anatolia, Turkey. The new species is closely related to A. columnaris Boiss., endemic to Denizli in western Anatolia, and A. gilvus Boiss. in Ankara Province, Turkey. Taxonomic descriptions, as well as pollen and seed characters of the new species, are presented. The new species grows in an open Abies cilicica (Antoine & Kotschy) Carriere forest. The geographical distribution of the new species, along with that of A. columnaris and A. gilvus, is shown. The new species is compared with is relatives A. columnaris and A. gilvus
Synopsis of the sect. Hymenocoleus, sect. Hymenostegis, and sect. Macrophyllium belonging to Astragalus (Fabaceae) in Turkey
A synopsis of the sect. Hymenocoleus Bunge, sect. Hymenostegis Bunge,
and sect. Macrophyllium Boiss. belonging to Astragalus L. in Turkey is
given based on a revisional study carried out in Turkey. As a result of
this study, an account of 19 species including keys and general
distribution as well as their conservation status in Turkey is given. It
is determined that A. narmanicus Karaman \& Aytac is new to science and
A. expetitus Maassoumi, A. pereshkhoranicus Maassoumi \& F. Ghahrem.,
and A. marivanensis Maassoumi \& Podlech do not exist in Turkey.
Additionally, the name of the sect. Hymenocoleus is preserved
A new genus and three new species from Central Anatolia, Turkey
A new genus (Pseudodelphinium H.Duman, Vural, Aytac & Adiguzel) and 3 new species (Pseudodelphinium turcicum H.Duman, Vural, Aytac & Adiguzel; Iberis halophila Vural & H.Duman; and Frankenia salsuginea Adiguzel & Aytac) from the Tuz Golu (Salt Lake) basin (Central Anatolia) are described. Illustrations, ecological habit, and a distribution map are given. The relationships of the new genus and species are discussed in terms of related taxa
Astragalus unalii (Fabaceae), a new species from Turkey
Astragalus unalii Cecen, Aytac and Misirdali, sp. nov. (Fabaceae, sect.
Malacothrix Bunge) is described as a new species from Karadag (Karaman
Province) in southern Anatolia and compared with its relatives growing
in steppe vegetation. The new species is close to A. tauricola Boiss.
and A. adiyamanensis Podlech \& M.Ekici, endemic and growing in central
and southern parts of Anatolia, Turkey. Taxonomic descriptions, pollen
and seed characters, and geographical distribution of the new species
are presented
A new species of Noccaea (Brassicaceae) from South Anatolia, Turkey
Noccaea camlikensis sp. nov. (Brassicaceae) is described and illustrated from a localized serpentine range in southern Turkey. Its close relationship to N. cariensis, from which it differs in leaf and carpological characters, is discussed. The protologue of this fairly unknown species can now be amended to cover better the morphological variability of this taxon. A comparative study of seed-coat anatomy advocates its move from Thlaspi to Noccaea; the relevant combination N. cariensis (Carlstrom) Parolly, Nordt & Aytac is made. The ecology of both vicarious species is discussed and their distribution mapped. (c) 2006 The Linnean Society of London, Botanical Journal of the Linnean Society, 2006, 150, 409-416
Fritillaria mughlae (Liliaceae), a new species from Turkey
Fritillaria mughlae M. Teksen and Aytac sp. nova (Liliaceae) is described from Turkey and illustrated. It is related to F. forbesii, from which it mainly differs in the shape of the leaves, petal colours and divided style. In addition seed and pollen micromorphology and karyotype of F. mughlae and F. forbesii were studied
Astragalus aybarsii a new species of sect. Onobrychoidei DC. (fabaceae) from Turkey
Astragalus aybarsii H. Duman \& Aytac (Fabaccae) is described and
illustrated as a new species from Kastamonu province (Turkey). The new
species grows in open areas of Pinus brutia Ten. forests. Diagnostic and
morphological charactersof the new species are compared with its close
relatives, A. setulosus Boiss. \& Balansa and A. eubrychioides Boiss.
Also, some notes on the ecology, biogeography, conservation status and
the pollen morphological and leaflet micromorphological features of the
new species are presented. The geographical distribution of this new
species and its allied species is mapped
Ebenus zekiyeae (Fabaceae), a New Species from Turkey
Ebenus zekiyeae Aytac & Yildirim sp. nova (Fabaceae) is described and illustrated from Erzurum, eastern Anatolia, Turkey. It grows on dry, stony slopes and morphologically resembles E. reesei. Its diagnostic characters are discussed. The leaflet and pollen surface of E. zekiyeae were examined using scanning electron microscopy. Distributions of E. zekiyeae and E. reesei and an identification key to Turkish taxa of Ebenus are provided
A new Onosma (Boraginaceae) species from southern Anatolia, Turkey
WOS: 000290978000003Onosma aksoyii Aytac & Turkmen sp. nova (Sect. Haplotricha H.Riedl, Boraginaceae) is described and illustrated as a new species. It grows in a Pin us nigra forest on serpentine rocks in Southern Anatolia (Konya province). Diagnostic characters of related species are compared and discussed. The characteristic features of pollen, stomata structure, and hairs were studied using a scanning electron microscope. The distribution map of this new species is presented.Edinburgh Botanic Garden (Sinbald) Trust; Erciyes UniversityErciyes UniversityThe authors are indebted to Dr Hayri Duman for the Latin diagnosis. The first author also wishes to thanks to the Edinburgh Botanic Garden (Sinbald) Trust for financial support during his visit in 1999; for giving permission to investigate specimens E and ANK; Dr. Zekiye Suludere for the SEM photographs; and Dr. Munevver Pinar for her comments on pollen structure. This new species was collected during the Flora of Kizildag Project, which is funded by the Erciyes University Scientific Research Project
