Kajian Lahan Potensial untuk Budidaya Perikanan dari Citra Satelit di Pantai Timur Belitung

    No full text
ABSTRACT Mapping potential land for aquaculture was done through topography, and land cover mapping derived satellite imagery and field survey in the east coast of Belitung. Topographic data derived satellite, and terrestrial measurement shows that topographic patterns increase as we move from the coastal line to inland. Topographic data from the terrestrial measurement was higher than satellite estimations. The type of tide in the east coast Belitung’s is the diurnal type. Within this research, tidal data was used as a reference terrestrial topographic measurement.   Land coverage maps from satellite images were classified into primary and secondary forests, grove forests, marsh/water lands, open land, inhabited land, and mining areas. According to topographic, land cover map, and tide pattern it can be confirmed that the eastern coastal area of Belitung has the potential to be developed into an aquaculture fishery area of 9,000 ha

Archiving the "Sweet" Candy-Loving Matinee Girl: Fashion, Confectionaries, and Fan Scrapbooking in Urban American Culture, 1880-1915

    No full text
A product of Broadway theatre and celebrity culture in New York City, the matinee girla fashionable city dweller and a theatre-loving girlfirst emerged in popular media at the end of the nineteenth century. She was both a fictional figure in the popular media as well as a young female fan that reflected the tensions of a changing society. In contextualizing the matinee girl within girlhood studies, theatre history, performance studies and fandom, I examine how this modern girlfrom a wage-earning immigrant to a middle-class college studentco-existed in public spaces and disrupted power structures and class lines. Chapter one questions how gender was performed and negotiated by the matinee girl through exploring the ways she used temporal and urban spaces to revise and reproduce identities for modern girls between 1880-1915. In using fashion as a tool, she destabilized notions of class and gender. In addition, chapter two explores newspaper articles, postcards, playbills and advertisements to understand the relationship between matinee girls and the consumption of sweets, including chocolate bonbons and ice-cream soda. My research pays particular attention to the ways in which girls destabilized and challenged the categories to which they were assigned, from chewing loudly in public to purchasing their own boxes of chocolates, a symbol of romantic heteronormative relationships. In examining the witty and provocative The Matinee Girl columns, two decade-long columns that were published in Winnipegs Town Topics by Harriet Walker and the New York Dramatic Mirror by an anonymous author, chapter three explores how these texts were used to fight against gender stereotypes. In doing so, these columns provided autonomy for girls and highlighted the labour and housing issues affecting single, wage-earning women during the period. Chapter four questions how female fandom was conceptualized and performed by matinee girls by exploring scrapbooks and fan art created by fans of matinee idol sensation, Maude Adams. Finally, I draw on the idea of place to understand how girls have been, both then and now, active producers of culture. From making noise to being actively present in public, the matinee girl, in particular, has helped to cultivate a culture of female fandom and shaped modern girlhood

Guru and Messiah : on the first yoga handbook in Polish language : Wincenty Lutosławski’s The development of the power of will by means of psychophysical exercises (1909)

    No full text
This chapter provides insight into the wide range of intellectual, social, and spiritual activities of Wincenty Lutosławski (1863-1954), one of the most eminent Polish personalities of his time. An outstanding philosopher and polyglot proficient in international networking, he was a prolific author of books in several languages, among them the first yoga manual to be published in Polish (1909). The principal focus of the analysis is on Lutosławski’s adaptation of yoga in the context of a specific understanding of Polish Romantic poetry following the tradition of the messianist religious leader Andrzej Towiański (1799-1878). Exploring these unique interdependencies, the chapter constitutes a contribution to the history of modern yoga at the beginning of the twentieth century and sheds light on the emergence of Polish neo-messianism

The Effect of Salinity on Seed Germination and Seedling Growth of Echinochloa crusgalli

    No full text
Author Institution: Department of Botany, Ohio UniversityThe purpose of this investigation was to determine the effect of salinity on germination and seedling growth of Echinochloa crusgalli collected from different populations. Germination studies with Echinochloa crusgalli indicated that each increase in salinity up to 1.5% NaCl caused a reduction in germination in both scarification and stratification + light treatments, with no seeds germinating at 2% NaCl. Stratified seeds without light did not germinate in any of the treatments. Seeds originating from parents growing at low, medium, and high salinity field sites differed in their response to salinity stress. At 2% NaCl, seeds originating from all three seed sources failed to germinate. Each increment in salinity caused a decline in seedling height, but the decrease was 61% at 1.5% NaCl for the low salt population, 77% for the medium salt population and only 38% for the high salt population

Wincenty Lutosławski’s „The Development of the Power of Will by Means of Psychophysical Exercises (1909)”, [w:] The Occult Nineteenth Century. Roots, Developments, and Impact on the Modern World, ed. L. Pokorny, F. Winter, P. Macmillan, London 2021, s. 399–423.Wincenty Lutosławski, one of the most eminent Polish personalities of his time, an outstanding philosopher, celebrated for his analysis of Plato’s dialogues, polyglot and most proficient in international networking, is also known as the author of the first yoga manual in Polish that he partly worked out by himself. The paper analyses the esoteric sources that were used by the philosopher to create a system of exercises that integrates also Polish romantic poetry. So the first yoga hand book in Polish language is also to be interpreted as a crucial stage on the path to the formulation of the philosophy, or worldview, of Polish Neo-Messianism.MARLIS LAMI – dr, ur. w Austrii, ukończyła filologię klasyczną, slawistykę i polonistykę na Uniwersytecie w Bernie (Szwajcaria). No full text
----- This study background is a 6.5-year-old child with autonomy development delay, which shows attitude such as inability to shower on their own, having to sleep with their parents, has no responsibility and initiative to make their toys up, and inability to control their emotion. Therefore, the author conducted a study related to the causal effects of such a problem. This study aimed to discover the causative factors of autonomy development delay. This study is a qualitative study with an explanatory case study method. Data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, and documentation. The analysis technique used was explanation building. The results of the study show that the condition of the autonomy development delay is indicated by the presence of several aspects of autonomy that have not appeared in the child, including the initiative to carry out various activities independently, the child does not show persistence in completing school assignments, the child cannot yet be responsible for the actions he / she does , and still can't do some activities independently such as wearing their own shoes, and sleeping unaccompanied by parents. And the cause of the child experiencing delays in the autonomy development delay, namely because of internal factors in the form of a lack of motivation in the child himself and the intelligence or intelligence of the child who is underdeveloped. External factors such as parenting style with too much freedom without supervision, parents' guidance and motivation, lack of assertiveness from teachers to make the child be independent, unsupportive household due to the lack of friends to interact with, and twin children factor are affecting a child's autonomy development because a twin child tends to be dependent on their twins

This manuscript, listed in the supplements to the Allerheiligen Abbey register of books from about 1100 (Min. 17, f. 306v), consists of two parts. The first part contains a careful copy of Gregory’s Dialogues in a single-column, which is also transmitted in Min. 47; it has a page with a decorative initial (f 1r) and a portrait of the author (f 1v). Especially remarkable are the life of Benedict in Book 2 (f 23r) and the beginnings of Book 3 (38r) and 4 (69r), which exhibit large initials with scroll ornamentation. The binding is Romanesque; it is not clear whether quire V between f 32v and f 33r was missing from the start or whether it was lost during a modern restoration. The second part (from f 104r, quires XV to XVIII) contains a mostly undecorated copy of the life of John Eleymon by Leontios of Neapolis.Online Since: 2016-10-1

Full waveform inversion for ultrasound computed tomography in the deterministic and Bayesian settings

    No full text
2022 Spring.Includes bibliographical references.Ultrasound computed tomography (USCT) is a noninvasive imaging technique in which acoustic waves are sent through a region and measured after transmission and reflection in order to provide information concerning that region. There are many reconstruction techniques for USCT which rely on linearization of the total pressure field, but this simplifying assumption often causes a loss of resolution and poor results in highly reflective media. Full waveform inversion (FWI) is a method popularized by the geophysical community which makes use of entire time-dependent pressure measurements and repeated solutions of the nonlinear wave equation. Due to this lack of linearization, FWI is able to produce high-fidelity sound speed reconstructions, albeit at a steep computational cost. In this dissertation, we explore the use of the FWI techniques in both the deterministic and Bayesian settings. For the deterministic case, an algorithm for FWI is derived which makes use of the adjoint method for the computation of functional derivatives and the software package k-Wave for the solution of the nonlinear wave equation. This algorithm is tested on numerical breast and lung phantoms for a variety of regularization functionals and parameters, where it displays an excellent ability to reconstruct the size and shape of inhomogeneities. For the lung phantom, a novel application of a structural similarity index regularization term is used with an Electrical Impedance Tomography prior to speed convergence and improve organ boundary delineation. In the Bayesian setting, a Metropolis-adjusted Langevin FWI algorithm is proposed and tested on a simplified breast phantom, with an emphasis on reducing computational expense. Preliminary results from this test show promise for future research on FWI in the Bayesian framework

An inverse problem and multi-compartment lung model for the estimation of lung airway resistance throughout the bronchial tree

    No full text
Includes bibliographical references.2022 Fall.Mechanical ventilation is a vital treatment for patients with respiratory failure, but mechanically ventilated patients are also at risk of ventilator-induced lung injury. Optimal ventilator settings to prevent such injury could be guided by knowledge of the airway resistance throughout the lung. While the ventilator provides a single value estimating the total airway resistance of the patient, in reality the airway resistance varies along the bronchial tree. Multiple literature sources reveal a wide range of clinically used values for airway resistance along the bronchial tree, motivating an investigation to estimate the values of airway resistance in the alveolar tree and the relationship to disease state. In this work, we introduce a multi-compartment asymmetric lung model based on resistor-capacitor circuits by using an analogy between electric circuits and the human lungs. A method for solving the inverse problem of computing the vector of airway resistance values in the alveolar tree is presented. The method uses a linear least squares optimization approach with several constraints. First, a symmetric lung model that makes use of parameters supplied by the mechanical ventilator of patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is used. We then generalize the model to an asymmetric lung model. The asymmetric model takes regional information data from electrical impedance tomography, a medical imaging technique, and converts them to time dependent lung airway volumes. The linear least squares optimization inverse problem is embedded in an iterative method to update unknown parameters of the forward problem for the asymmetric case
