Driving Towards Digitalization and Industry 4.0 in the Coal Mining Sector
This research provides an in-depth analysis of the impact of digitalization on the coal mining sector, with a special focus on PT X. The study employs a combination of content analysis, narrative analysis, and business solution mapping to extract insights from interviews conducted with five key stakeholders at PT. X. The objective is to assess how technological advancements can elevate operational efficiency and competitiveness in the era of Industry 4.0, and to identify strategies for effectively reducing reliance on human resources in site monitoring, while ensuring employee satisfaction and smooth transition. Through the methodological triangulation of content and narrative analysis, the study distils crucial themes and perspectives from the interviews. It identifies that the integration of advanced technologies like IoT, data analytics, and automation is vital for enhancing operational efficiency and reducing operational downtime. The research highlights the importance of transitioning from manual to automated site monitoring, emphasizing the adoption of drones and automated systems to bolster operational accuracy and efficiency. A key finding of the study is the identification of potential obstacles in digital technology investment, such as cost, system integration challenges, and employee resistance to new technologies. The study suggests that overcoming these barriers requires effective communication strategies and comprehensive training programs for employees. Drawing on the successful digital transformation strategies of companies like Adaro, the research recommends that PT. X should adapt similar strategies, customized to its unique challenges and context. The study contributes valuable insights into the digital transformation process in the coal mining sector, offering practical recommendations for companies like PT. X navigating the complex landscape of Industry 4.0
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
E-Wallet Application Penetration for Financial Inclusion in Indonesia
Abstract :
Indonesia is an archipelago country with more than 270 million inhabitants spread across urban and rural regions. This makes digital payment penetration a challenge in itself. Private and government e-wallet service providers have sought to increase the use of cashless services to address structural deficiencies in the country’s economy, such as poor financial inclusion and heavy reliance on manual remittances. This study discusses penetration problems that occur in the e-wallet industry and formulates the strategy so that the use of digital payment platforms can be carried out evenly in all regions of Indonesia. This study notes that technology enablement such as smartphone and internet penetration does not correlate with e-wallet penetration. Many underlying factors affect the penetration, such as key driving forces, infrastructure readiness, and people’s perception of the safety and security of mobile transactions. Bank Indonesia and e-wallet providers are responsible to educate people about the advantages along with possible risks of adopting e-wallet as a non-cash payment method
Learning Culture Assessment and Its Influence on Knowledge Creation Process (A Case Study of PT Pindad (Persero)) : : Proceeding of ISCLO (International Seminar and Conference on Learning Organization), October 26th 2016
To thrive and stay ahead of the competition in a world of Defence industry as well as to achieve its
vision, PT Pindad (Persero), better known as Pindad, has a learning value shared within organization, which is
expected to encourage employee to continuously seek new knowledge and skills. This study aims to know the
influence of Learning Culture on Knowledge Creation Process in Pindad setting and to assess the Learning
Culture implementation in this company. It used mixed methods research by using sequential explanatory
strategy, which is characterized by the collection and analysis of quantitative data followed by qualitative data.
Multiple regression- and descriptive analyses were used in quantitative approach, while in-depth interview was
conducted for the qualitative approach. Data were collected from employees in Technology & Developmentand
Operation Division, which have substantial contribution to support product innovation at Pindad. The
instrument in quantitative part is adopted from The Dimensions of Learning Organization Questionnaire
(DLOQ) created by Watkins and Marsick (1993) to measure Learning Culture and the knowledge conversion
theory (Nonaka & Takeuchi modified by Oh, 2001) to measure Knowledge Creation Process. The main result of
this study shows that Learning Culture significantly influences Knowledge Creation Process in the context of
Pindad. The value of Adjusted R2 indicates Learning Culture can explain 58.5% of the variability in the
Knowledge Creation Process. Moreover, there are six suggestions to optimize the implementation of learning
culture in this company, viz. promote collegial atmosphere through the role of leaders, provide appropriate
training, provide supporting system for learning, review current reward for learning, update its current
competencies, and change its mechanistic structure to organic structure.
