    No full text
Case description We present a case of a seventy-eight year-old man who developed vocal cord paralysis without any sign of peripheral neuropathy during the treatment of Mantle Cell Lymphoma. He first presented in 2008 with a few bilateral small inguinal lymph nodes. Inguinal lymph node biopsy demonstrated Mantle Cell Lymphoma. Flow cytometry studies of peripheral blood and bone marrow cells were compatible with Mantle Cell Lymphoma. R-CHOP chemotherapy triweekly (Rituximab; Cyclophosphamide; Adriamycin; Vincristine; and Methylprednisolone) was planned. At the end of the second cycle, the patient complained of hoarseness without any symptoms of dysphagia or odynophagia. Direct flexible laryngoscopy showed bilateral vocal cord paralysis. Vincristine was discontinued and the patient's voice gradually resolved in about 4 months. Conclusion Vincristine may cause peripheral, autonomic and cranial neuropathies. However cranial nerve involvement is quite uncommon

32nd International Physics Congress of Turkish-Physical-Society (TPS) -- SEP 06-09, 2016 -- Bodrum, TURKEYNoble metal nano-structures such as Ag, Cu, Au are used commonly to increase power conversion efficiency of the solar cell by using their surface plasmons. The plasmonic metal nanoparticles of Ag among others that have strong LSPR in near-UV range. They increase photon absorbance via embedding in the active semiconductor of the solar cell. Thin films of Ag are grown in the desired particle size and interparticle distance easily and at low cost by PLD technique. Ag nanoparticle thin films were grown on micro slide glass at 25-36 mJ laser pulse energies under by PLD using nsNd:YAG laser. The result of this work have been presented by carrying out UV-VIS and AFM analysis. It was concluded that a laser energy increases, the density and size of Ag-NPs arriving on the substrate increases, and the interparticle distance was decreases. Therefore, LSPR wavelength shifts towards to longer wavelength region.Turkish Phys SocScientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK)Turkiye Bilimsel ve Teknolojik Arastirma Kurumu (TUBITAK) [1649B031503748]; Scientific Research Projects Coordination Unit of Selcuk UniversitySelcuk University [15201070, 15301020]This work was supported by the; Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) under Grant No. 1649B031503748 and Scientific Research Projects Coordination Unit of Selcuk University, Project No. 15201070 and 15301020. No full text
A study was carried out to investigate time-related morphological changes of the rat small bowel during preservation of the organ in hypothermic Euro-Collins and Lactated Ringer solutions. Small bowels were perfused via the ascending aorta. After flushing of the intestinal lumen with cold saline solution, perfused grafts were placed in respective preservation solutions at 4°C for 0, 3, 6 and 12 hours. Perfusion and storage in saline solution at 4°C was performed for controls. Biopsy samples were prepared for examination at the light and scanning electron microscopic levels. The results indicate that both preservation solutions are suitable for short term preservation of the small bowel

The study wasconducted within the scope of the “narrative research” methodology, one of the qualitative researchdesigns. The main purpose of narrative studies is to examine the ways through which individualsexperience the world and reality by analyzing their own personal stories. From this point of view, thisstudy examined Teacher Serap’s experiences with an introverted student in her classroom through herown personal stories and the changes that these experiences caused both in the introverted student andher profession. Data were collected through a series of semi-structured interviews. After eachinterview was transcribed, written feedback from the teacher was obtained through e-mails and newinterviews were conducted with her about the issues that were not clear enough. In addition, afterfinishing the writing of the research report, Teacher Serap was invited to indicate her opinions on theentire report. Data were reorganized around the sub-questions of the study and presented in achronological framework under five themes. They include: (1) recognizing the introverted student, (2)getting to know the introverted student, (3) reaching the introverted student, (4) tracing the changes inthe introverted student, and (5) evaluating the professional attainments. According to the findings,Teacher Serap believes that she has achieved her desired goals for her introverted student anddeveloped an invaluable understanding about the phenomenon of difficult children. The studyconcludes that there is a need for comprehensive narrative research studies to be carried out on othertypes of difficult children

    Generalized injectivity and approximation

Title: Generalized injectivity and approximations Author: Serap S¸ahinkaya Department:Algebra Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University Supervisor: Prof. RNDr. Jan Trlifaj, DSc, Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University Abstract: Injective modules form a basic class studied in contemporary module theory. One of their generalizations, inspired by tilting theory, is the notion of a cotilting module. While tilting modules behave well with respect to localization, we show that colocalization is the correct approach when comparing the struc- ture of cotilting modules over commutative noetherian rings R with the structure of cotilting modules over their localizations Rm where m runs over the maximal spectrum of R. This is done in Chapter 2 of this Dissertation whose main results were published in the paper [33]. In Chapter 3, we investigate approximation properties of other classic generalizations of injective modules, the Ci- and quasi- injective modules, introduced by Harada et al. Suprisingly, we prove that these classes provide for approximations only in exceptional cases (when all Ci mod- ules are injective, or pure-injective). The Dissertation ends with a set of open problems. Keywords: Commutative noetherian ring, (co)tilting module, (generalized) injec- tive module.

V kapitole 3 zkoumáme aproximační vlastnosti jiných klasických zobecnění injektivních modul, Ci- a kvazi-injektivních modulů, zavedených Hara- dou a dalšími. Dokazujeme, že tyto třídy poskytují aproximace pouze ve výjimeč- ných případech (když všechny Ci-moduly jsou injektivní nebo čistě injektivní). No full text
The novel human coronavirus was firstly emerged in December 2019 in Wuhan, China, and has spread rapidly around the world. There is no known specific effective treatment of COVID-19. The most commonly used agents against this disease both in Turkey and around the world include chloroquine, hydroxychloroquine, lopinavir/ritonavir, favipiravir, and remdesivir. In the study, we investigated the drug potential of molecules that the components of an important medicinal plant Hypericum perforatum by using molecular docking and drug possibility properties of these molecules. The molecular docking results showed that the most stable complex was obtained with COVID-19 main protease and hypericin/isohypericin ligands with − 11 kcal/mol binding energy. Furthermore, ADMET, drug-likeness features of compounds of H. perforatum were investigated using the rules of Lipinski, Veber, and Ghose. According to the results obtained, it has been shown that H. perforatum has the potential to be an effective drug in the COVID-19 pandemic. In the next stage, it is necessary to carry out the clinically necessary reliability studies of these components. It is thought that it can be used for the treatment of COVID-19 if our molecular docking results are found to be in high correlation with clinical studies. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG part of Springer Nature
