Self-consistent assessment of Englert-Schwinger model on atomic properties
Our manuscript investigates a self-consistent solution of the statistical atom model proposed by Berthold-Georg Englert and Julian Schwinger (the ES model) and benchmarks it against atomic Kohn-Sham and two orbital-free models of the Thomas-Fermi-Dirac (TFD)-λvW family. Results show that the ES model generally offers the same accuracy as the well-known TFD-15vW model; however, the ES model corrects the failure in the Pauli potential near-nucleus region. We also point to the inability of describing low-Z atoms as the foremost concern in improving the present model.Peer reviewe
Metzneria riadella Englert, 1974, a new record for the Türkiye Fauna (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae)
In this study, Metzneria riadella Englert, 1974 is presented as a new record for the Türkiye fauna. Morphological and ecological data on the Türkiye populations of the taxon are also included. The female external genital organ, the abdominal skin of male and female individuals is presented visually for the first time in this study. Additionally, some ecological data regarding the habitat of the species are also mentioned.En este estudio se presenta Metzneria riadella Englert, 1974 como un nuevo registro para la fauna de Turquía. También se incluyen datos morfológicos y ecológicos sobre las poblaciones de Turquía del taxón. El órgano genital externo de la hembra, la piel abdominal de los individuos machos y hembras se presenta visualmente por primera vez en este estudio. Además, se mencionan algunos datos ecológicos relativos al hábitat de la especie

SYNTHESIS, REACTIVITY, AND CRYSTAL AND MOLECULAR-STRUCTURES OF NB(L)(ETA-6-C6H5-NXN)2B(C6H5-NXN)2, A CLASS OF MONONUCLEAR METAL-COMPOUNDS CONTAINING THE 12-ELECTRON-DONOR TETRAARYLBORATO LIGAND
The one-electron oxidation of Nb(mes)2 (mes = 1,3,5-trimethylbenzene) with ferrocenium tetraarylborate, produces the 16-electron [Nb(mes)2]+ cation, which adds disubstituted symmetrical alkynes to give the ionic compounds [Nb(mes)2)(alkyne)][Y] (alkyne = MeC2Me, Y = BPh4 (1a), Y = B(p-FC6H4)4 (1b), Y = B[3,5-(CF3)2C6H3]4 (1c); alkyne = PhC2Ph, Y = Bph4 (2a), Y = B(p-FC6H4)4 (2b)). 2b crystallizes in space group C2/c (No. 15) with four formula units in cells of dimensions a = 17.640(3) angstrom, b = 16.8386(8) angstrom, c = 19.616(2) angstrom, and beta = 97.230(9)degrees; the [Nb(mes)2(PhC2Ph)]+ cation contains bent eta6-mesitylene ligands, a coordination position being occupied by PhC2Ph as a formal two-electron donor. The alkyne in 1a-c is displaced by CO at room temperature and at atmospheric pressure to give the carbonyl derivatives [Nb-(mes)2CO][Y] (3a-c). Thermal treatment of 1a,b and 2a in toluene gave mesitylene displacement and formation of the neutral covalent compounds containing the uninegative tetraarylborato ligand of formula [Nb(RC2R)(eta6-C6H4X)2B(C6H4X)2] (R = Me, X = H (4a), X = p-F (4b); R = Ph, X = H (5a)). 4a crystallizes in space group P42(1)mBAR (No. 113), with two formula units in cells of dimensions a = 9.734(1) angstrom and c = 11.6333(9) angstrom; 4b crystallizes in space group P2(1)2(1)2, (No. 19) with eight formula units in cells of dimensions a = 11.776(3) angstrom, b = 15.666(3) angstrom, and c = 28.042(5) angstrom. 4a,b both contain the novel bonding arrangement of the tetraarylborato ligand with two interannularly niobium-bridged aryl rings. This new type of bonding is not restricted to the methyl-substituted (4a) or phenyl-substituted (4b) acetylenic derivatives: CO is also compatible with the new bonding arrangement. Alkyne displacement by CO gives the neutral covalent complex [Nb(CO)(eta6-C6H4X)2B(C6H4X)2] (X = H (6a), p-F (6b)). An X-ray diffractometric experiment on 6a has confirmed the novel bonding arrangement of the tetraarylborato ligand for this compound, which crystallizes in space group P2(1)2(1)2, (No. 19) with four formula units in cells of dimensions a = 10.495(2) A, b = 14.586(1) angstrom, and c = 17.174(3) angstrom

Shrink-swell and cracking of sand-bentonite mixes with EPS inclusion (Contraer-hinchese y el agrietarse de las mezclas de la arena-bentonita con la inclusion de EPS)
This paper describes how three reconstituted soils with PI ranging from 22% to 53% were prepared in the laboratory by mixing fine sand and sodium rich bentonite. Recycled EPS beads were subsequently mixed with the Soil-Bentonite (SB) mixes to form Soil With EPS (SWEPS) composites. A series of free swell, shrinkage and cracking tests were performed on these new lightweight geomaterials. Results so far show that the inclusion of EPS beads significantly reduces the severity of volumetric change and cracking of the soils. The proposed technique is thus showing a great promise in sustainable construction through the possible utilization of unwanted materials in earth structures
SCATTERING AND ONEING: A STUDY OF CONFLICT IN THE WORKS OF THE AUTHOR OF THE CLOUD OF UNKNOWING
This study treats the question of conflict between scattering (disharmony) and oneing (unity of God) in the works of the author of The Cloud. The study focuses initially on the scattering (disharmony) of senses, imagination, reason and impulse in these works. It also treats the scattering of the unconscious , employing the theory of C. G. Jung and Roberto Assagioli to explain this form of scattering. These initial chapters explore the many forms of personal disharmony and fragmentation which occur throughout our author\u27s work. The notion of chaste love is then developed in the study (chapter V) as a bridge between the notion of scattering and that of oneing . It carries us away from a treatment of scattering toward that of oneing. Finally, the dissertation treats the notion of onehood as a state of loving awareness, which is the final goal of The Cloud\u27s teaching. This state occurs when love alters one\u27s vision introducing us to an apprehension of the coincidence of opposites. It is the fruit of chaste love and the undoing of scattering. Chapter VI thus presents evidence of mutuality and complementarity in our author\u27s imagery and spirituality. A seventh chapter contrasts the first part of the study, scattering (chapters 1-4), with the second part, oneing (chapters 5-6). This final chapter concludes the study, and maintains that the forms of scattering and temptation are viewed by the author as a positive conditioning for onehood . Scattering and temptation are thus presented in a most favorable manner; and the author\u27s tolerance for the role of scattering is viewed as the fruit of his own loving awareness. Such awareness is discussed in chapter VI and chapter VII. These chapters view scattering and oneing as the interrelated poles of a dialogue, and place temptation in a most favorable light
Aktive Entspannung als protektiver Faktor gegen die negativen Effekte subjektiven Druckerlebens auf die Leistung
We tested the assumption that active relaxation following an ego-depletion task counteracts the negative effects of ego depletion on subsequent performance under evaluative pressure. N = 39 experienced basketball players were randomly assigned to a relaxation condition or to a control condition, and then performed a series of free-throws at two points of measurement (T1: baseline vs. T2: after working on a depleting task and either receiving active relaxation or a simple break). The results demonstrated that performance remained constant in the relaxation condition, whereas it significantly decreased in the control condition. The findings are in line with the notion that active relaxation leads to a quicker recovery from ego depletion.Es wurde die Annahme untersucht, dass Personen durch die Ausübung aktiver Entspannungstechniken nach einer Selbstkontrollaufgabe die negativen Effekte von Ego Depletion auf die anschließende Leistung unter Druck kompensieren können. N = 39 erfahrene Basketballspieler wurden zufällig einer Entspannungsbedingung oder einer Kontrollbedingung zugeordnet und führten eine Serie von Freiwürfen zu zwei Messzeitpunkten durch (T1: Baseline vs. T2: nach einer Ego Depletion Aufgabe und entweder einer Entspannungsübung oder einer einfachen Pause). In der Entspannungsbedingung blieb die Leistung zu beiden Messzeitpunkten konstant, jedoch schnitten die Probanden der Kontrollbedingung zu T2 signifikant schlechter ab als zu T1. Die Ergebnisse deuten darauf hin, dass aktive Entspannungsübungen zu einer schnelleren Regeneration erschöpfter Selbstkontrollkraft beitragen können

Prace kronikarza są doskonałym materiałem poglądowym na temat genezy, okoliczności i przebiegu obchodów ważnych dla polskiego uchodźstwa wydarzeń z historii Polski.This article is a presentation of the results of research on the works of Juliusz L. Englert as a chronicler of the emigration, graphic artist and co-author of the programmes celebrating national historical anniversaries. The study is based on Englert’s extensive publishing output, available mainly in Polish archives and libraries in Great Britain. Englert’s works are excellent demonstrative material for a thorough analysis of the genesis, circumstances and course of the celebrations of events from Polish history important for the Polish people in exile
