MECCA MEAN TIME PROBLEMATIC AS A WORLD TIME REFERENCE
Desire of Muslims to replace the present standard of time, namely Greenwich Mean Time, to Mecca Mean Time is the manifestation of a new spirit in the Islamic world in particular. Mecca Mean Time makes al-Abraj tower (Mecca Royal Clock) the zero degree point or standard for the commencement of global time. The goal of this study is to find out what are the challenges that occur when Mecca Mean Time is used as a reference for global time. This research is a sort of qualitative research involving library research studies by describing descriptively. After the data is obtained, the author will categorize, analyze and present it in the form of a brief and systematic document. In this study, it was revealed that there was a debate of variations in views amongst different specialists when MMT was utilized as a reference for global time. Bambang Eko Budhiyono is striving very hard to achieve MMT as a world time reference on the basis of interpretation of the Qur'an verse 1 al-Hujurat. Meanwhile, Thomas Djamaluddin has a different perspective since physically and geographically there are no qualities that assist it to make it a time reference or as a main meridian (Prime Meridian) except religious spirit
Metagenomic analysis of fungal taxa inhabiting Mecca region, Saudi Arabia
AbstractThe data presented contains the sequences of fungal Internal Transcribed Spacer (ITS) and 18S rRNA gene from a metagenome of the Mecca region, Saudi Arabia. Sequences were amplified using fungal specific primers, which amplified the amplicon aligned between the 18S and 28S rRNA genes. A total of 460 fungal species belonging to 133 genera, 58 families, 33 orders, 13 classes and 4 phyla were identified in four contrasting locations. The raw sequencing data used to perform this analysis along with FASTQ file are located in the NCBI Sequence Read Archive (SRA) under accession numbers: SRR3150823, SRR3144873, SRR3150825 and SRR3150846
Mobiles and wearables: owner biometrics and authentication
We discuss the design and development of HCI models for authentication based on gait and gesture that can be supported by mobile and wearable equipment. The paper proposes to use such biometric behavioral traits for partially transparent and continuous authentication by means of behavioral patterns. © 2016 Copyright held by the owner/author(s)

Mecca historiography and Ezrakî’s Ahbâru Mecca
In Islamic history writings, urban and regional histories were not thoroughly mentioned. We can exemplify some of the works which were written in the branch of Islamic urban history as below: Hasan al-Basri's work named Fezâilu Mekke and Ezraki's work named Ahbâru Mekke, both works were written about the history of Mecca. Ibn Şebbe's work named Târîhu'l-Medîneti'l-Münevvere and Ibn Zebâle's works named Kitâbu'l-Medîne and Ahbâruhâ, these both were also written about the history of Medina. Al-Mirdâsî's work named Târîhu'l-Endülüs written about the history of Andalusia and finally Ibn Abdi'l-Hakem's works named Fütûhu Mısr and Ahbâruhâ has written on the history of Egypt. Those last works by Abdi'l-Hakem are primitive and essential as on the urban history. Because of not being a topic on any kind of studying and also being the most contemporary work, Ahbâru Mekke of Ezrakî have been examined in this study. In the first part of the work, the author’s life has been mentioned briefly. Then the process of printing of the book, the examples of the book being in Türkiye, the importance of the work, the style of the author, the sources that he used have been referred respectively. In the last section, studies made about Ahbâru Mekke have been mentioned by comparison between the other works made about Mecca’s history. In the second part of the study, the work has been observed called by Ebü’l-Velîd al-Ezrakî called Ahbâru Mekke ve ma câe fîhâ mine’l-asâr that is the work which forms a benchmark for the urban history of Mecca
La carovana del sultano. Dal Mali alla Mecca (1324-1325)
In 1324 Mansa Musa, the sultan of Mali, undertook his pilgrimage to Mecca with a very long caravan laden with gold. A journey destined to enter history, cloaked in legend, thanks to the Arab chronicles of the time and of the centuries to come. The author reconstructs that path, placing it in the historical and cultural context of the time, revealing its political and strategic aspects as well as religious and economic ones. The route of the caravan thus becomes a sort of metaphor, useful for explaining the dense network of ties and exchanges that enveloped the Mediterranean, uniting Africa to Europe. Thus a new and multicentric reading of history is outlined, in which Africa is an important protagonist and not the isolated land of the hic sunt leones
Money and Sovereignty in Mecca: Issues of the Sharifs in the Fifteenth and Sixteenth Centuries
AbstractThe sharifs of Mecca in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries minted coins that formed the basis of the local monetary system. The Meccan dirham, debased during this period until it was reduced to a copper coin, was an expression of the monetary autonomy of the sharifs and a means of profit for the monetary authorities.
