Introduction: Hansen\'s disease (leprosy) is a chronic infectious malady caused by Mycobacterium leprae (M. leprae) present in endemic conditions in several tropical countries. The infectious agent has intraneural capacity of invasion and proliferation (MARQUES JR., 2015). The current prevalence of leprosy is approximately 0.34 per 10,000 inhabitants. With 200,000 new cases reported annually in recent years (LIJI THOMAS, 2017). WHO (2010) advises that in the event of an obvious loss of sensitivity in a cutaneous lesion, to close the diagnosis of leprosy, count the number of lesions to be classified, and initiate the Polychemotherapeutic-PCT Treatment immediately. If there is no loss of sensitivity, do not start treatment, but refer the person for a more detailed evaluation. Aims: To evaluate the efficiency and efficacy of the sympathetic cutaneous response-SCS, measured in the autonomic territory of the median and ulnar nerves in patients with confirmed leprosy and in healthy individuals, in order to determine the predictive value of this technique in identifying abnormalities in leprosy neuropathy. Methods: This is a prospective, cross-sectional, quantitative and qualitative test to evaluate the efficiency and efficacy of the complementary diagnostic test of the cutaneous sympathetic response in patients with leprosy. Data were collected from the electroneuromyography evaluation of thirty-one (31) patients from the Experimental Group-EG and fifth (50) healthy individuals from the Control Group-CG, organized according to the data sequence: anamnesis, sympathetic cutaneous response and electroneuromyography test (MARQUES JR., 2015). Results and Conclusions: Studies show that neurophysiological evaluation can contribute to an early diagnosis of leprosy\'s neuropathy, an essential factor to prevent permanent neural damage. Currently, there seems to be a consensus that the neuropathy initially compromises fine sensitive fibers and most routine techniques assess large-caliber fibers. In this study, we proposed to characterize the behavioral pattern of SCS in leprosy with a view to future use in the identification of neuropathy in contactants, in the diagnosis of symptomatic pauci-patients and in the better characterization of neuropathy in patients with the disease already established

    129. Portuguese Field Vole Microtus rozianus French: Campagnol de Bocage / German: Portugal-Erdmaus / Spanish: Topillo de campo lusitano Taxonomy. Arvicola rozianus Bocage, 1865, Gerla, near Coimbra, Portugal. Formely treated as a subspecies of M. agrestis but now elevated to species status based on highly divergent nucleotide sequences. Despite low estimate of divergence ofthis lineage (c.70,000 years ago), no gene flow was found between rozianus and lavernedii. Monotypic. Distribution. NW Spain and N Portugal. Descriptive notes. Head-body 100 mm, tail 39 mm (from a single specimen from north-western Spain). No specific data are available for body weight. The Portuguese Field Vole is morphologically indistinguishable from the Short-tailed Field Vole (M. agrestis) and the Mediterranean Field Vole (M. lavernedu). Auditory bullae are small and flattened. Habitat. Communities of rushes (Juncus maritimus, Juncaceae), stands of reeds (Phragmites australis, Poaceae), and marshlands with halophytic vegetation (Spartina maritima, Poaceae; Salicornia europaea, Sarcocornia perennis, and Atriplex portulacoides, all Amaranthaceae). Food and Feeding. The Portuguese Field Vole is herbivorous, with a diet similar to the Short-tailed Field Vole. Breeding. No information. Activity patterns. No information. Movements, Home range and Social organization. No information. Status and Conservation. Not assessed on The IUCN Red List as a distinct species. Distribution of the Portuguese Field Vole is small, but it was the second most abundant vole retrieved from owl pellets in northern Portugal, where it was classified as “not threatened.” Bibliography. Diehl, S. Flugge, U. Schr\""{o}der. A. V\""{o}lkel and A. Weiguny.2Weiguny.^{2} We have written down, for the rotation-vibration of non-linear triatomic molecules, a general Hamiltonian which holds for an arbitrary choice of both the set of internal coordinates and the molecule-fixed rotating framework. This general Hamiltonian includes as special cases the two formulations described above and it allows a better understanding of the relations existing between them. These relations will be discussed

The thoughts exposed in the eighteenth century by the genevan, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, influenced in a decisive way the West has to realize his childhood. This author has caused a real division of the waters or publish Emile, or On Education (1762). With this done more than shake the foundations of educational time, it leaves the child a place in the world. The child is given a value in itself, and be seen as key step in the human constitution. By highlighting this period of life, and the final break with that which prevailed in his time, in which the child was seen as a mistake passenger - an infant (who does not speak), a "miniature adult" or mere object of pampering and pleasure - Jean-Jacques creates a new perspective to conceive a child. He said: "Nature wants children to be children before being men." In developing a concept of childhood, Rousseau says that "childhood is the sleep of reason". What surprises us because this author has lived in the middle of "Age of Enlightenment", just when the reason was mentioned as the sure guide for thought and action in all ages. Contrary to what may seem, Rousseau does not diminish the infantile period, associating him to the darkness or the inferiority of humanity first. He is considered the "inventor of childhood." Resume thoughts that talk about these ideas Rousseau, the inaugural modern conception of childhood, through theoretical research, stroke is the goal here, with the aim to advance the understandings established around the contributions of Jean-Jacques Rousseau to thematic examination

Evandro Affonso Ferreira: vidas desengraçadas e o arquivo debilitado

This dissertation investigates writing procedures by Evandro Affonso Ferreira, a contemporary Brazilian author with five books published so far. These procedures are studied according to the movement of the characters. The work is divided in two parts: the first one is a game for a galery (possible and failed) of stupids and its "infamous lives" regarding the precarious experience and existence of these characters. The game happens in an involvement with the visual arts (Marcelo Coutinho, Elida Tessler and León Ferrari) and with some other fictional texts from authors like Gusmán, Kafka, Melville, Walser etc. The second one is how the author works with his texts, books and the lexicon he uses - the sonorous words -, as all this would form a single (an unique) book, free in a Babel library of the language, of the imagination, of the memory, of the literature. The book as an object that compounds the trajectory of an author-reader, his Babelic collection. For this I use the theories of Agamben, Benjamin, Blanchot, Derrida, Deleuze, Foucault and others

Neurophysiological findings of the late-onset, dominant, proximal spinal muscular atrophies with dysautonomia because of the VAPB PR056SER mutation

The vesicle-associated membrane protein/synaptobrevin-associated membrane protein B (VAPB) Pro56Ser Mutation has been identified in Brazilian families showing various motor neuron syndromes. However, the neurophysiological characteristics of these patients have not been detailed, and some questions Still need to be solved, such as the possible presence of myotonia and the origin of the abdominal protrusion seen in most patients. The eventual finding of suggestive electrophysiological characteristics would be helpful not only for clinical diagnosis but also to selection of the appropriate DNA test. To clarify these questions we carried out sensory and motor conduction Studies, including symphatetic skin response, and needle examination in six genetically proven affected members. The electromyographic findings were those of a slowly progressive motor neuron disorder. Topographically, the abdominal muscles were severely affected, but the facial and laryngeal muscles were preserved or very mildly involved. Sensory conduction studies and sympathetic Skin responses were normal. No myotonic discharge was recorded. These findings are indistinguishable from those of other motor neuron disorders, although the predominant involvement of the proximal limbs and of the abdominal muscles may be of some help in the appropriate clinical setting.FAPESP Fundacao de Amparo a Pesquisa do Estado de Sao Paulo (FAPFSP)[03/00424-3]Secretaria de Saude do Estado de SaO PauloFundacao de Apoio ao Ensino, Pesquisa e Assistencia do Hospital das Clinicas da Faculdade de Medicina de Ribeirao Preto, Universidade de Sao Paulo (FAEPA)
