Zabadal, Regional Extension Grape Specialistand Gerald B. White and Daniel B. Whitaker, Department of Agricultural Economics, Cornell University. The main purpose of this study is to help the cooperators in this project and other grape growers to improve their skills as farm managers. The objective is to demonstrate the importance of good business records and to show how they can be used as a base for sound management decisions, The summary and analysis presented in this publication should also be useful to agribusinessmen and· agricultural teachers. However, caution should be exercised in using data from this book, These data were not obtained by using a random or representative sample of all grape farms in the Finger Lakes Region. This publication, therefore, should not be used as an exact representation of the entire Finger Lakes Region grape farm industry. Case record analysis
It is argued that the determinates of low frequency (less than once an hour) challenging behavior are likely to be more complex than those of high frequency behavior involving setting events that may not be present when the behavior occurs. The analysis of case records is then examined as a method of identifying possible setting events to low frequency behaviours. It is suggested that time series analysis, correlational analysis and time lag sequential analysis may all be useful methods in the examination of case records

83166.pdf (Publisher’s version ) (Open Access)Everyone would agree that urban development, especially when involving the building of residential areas, should be accompanied by sufficient and good public infrastructure and facilities. We all want neighborhoods with the necessary roads, green areas, social facilities, affordable housing and public spaces of high quality. At the same time, nowadays, governments are facing severe cuts in public expenditure. So who is going to pay for all that quality? In the Netherlands and in many other countries, achieving these public goals has become a problem, especially in the regeneration of deteriorated inner cities sites. This book offers insight in how the economic value increase that arises from urban development can serve to finance the quality we want, without the need for public subsidies. The findings and recommendations made in this book focus on Western Europe, mainly on successful and alternatively less successful recent experiences in Spain, England and the Netherlands. Public bodies can use the recommendations to create the necessary conditions to improve the involvement of property developers and landowners in the financing of infrastructure and facilities. Property developers and landowners can find formulas for private-public partnership that can lead to lower development costs and risks, allowing them to pay for good infrastructure and facilities while maintaining profitability. Scholars will find here the theoretical backgrounds for this relevant topic. Updated Brazilian Database On Food Carotenoids: Factors Affecting Carotenoid Composition
This article updates the Brazilian database on food carotenoids. Emphasis is on carotenoids that have been demonstrated important to human health: α-carotene, β-carotene, β-cryptoxanthin, lycopene, lutein and zeaxanthin. The sampling and sample preparation strategies and the analytical methodology are presented. Possible sources of analytical errors, as well as the measures taken to avoid them, are discussed. Compositional variation due to such factors as variety/cultivar, stage of maturity, part of the plant utilized, climate or season and production technique are demonstrated. The effects of post-harvest handling, preparation, processing and storage of food on the carotenoid composition are also discussed. The importance of biodiversity is manifested by the variety of carotenoid sources and the higher levels of carotenoids in native, uncultivated or semi-cultivated fruits and vegetables in comparison to commercially produced crops. © 2008 Elsevier Inc.
