Narrative Orientierung der Handlungswissenschaft Soziale Arbeit
Narratives and stories are an integral part of human culture. Based on the concept of homo narrans, Moritz Rosenberger first analyses the function and effect of narratives for modern subjects and societies. Building on this and drawing on the theoretical discourse of social work, he formulates the first axioms of narrative-oriented social work. Starting from an action research orientation and recognising the interdependence of theory and practice, the theoretical combination of relational and discursive constructivism as well as a hermeneutic claim to understanding is applied at various levels of practice
Lung Cancer Navigation and Care
This Open Access Lung Cancer Navigation and Care is the first site-specific, comprehensive clinical guide designed specifically for Lung Cancer Navigators and Allied Health Professionals. This essential resource delivers end-to-end foundational knowledge, clinical guidelines, best practices, and critical tools to elevate the standard of care and promote equitable health outcomes for individuals at risk for or living with lung cancer. With lung cancer remaining the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the U.S. and globally, this guide addresses the urgent need for timely, evidence-based, and person-centered care. Each chapter is authored by multidisciplinary experts and seasoned navigators, offering in-depth content paired with real-world vignettes that illustrate practical application in patient navigation. Key takeaways, curated readings, and actionable resources conclude every chapter, making this a hands-on companion for clinical and community-based professionals alike. This textbook also confronts the disproportionate impact of lung cancer on historically marginalized communities and emphasizes the role of navigation in addressing social determinants of health. It highlights the promise of early lung cancer detection and innovations such as biomarker testing and targeted therapies, while advocating for the integration of nurses, community health workers, and allied health professionals across the care continuum. Whether used in clinical practice, professional development, or academic programs, Lung Cancer Navigation and Care is a groundbreaking resource that equips healthcare professionals to lead with knowledge, compassion, and impact

Climatic Subjects
Who, or what, is the contemporary climatic subject? Addressing the climate crisis in thought, imagination, and in action requires a connection between scholars, artists, journalists, and activists. The contributors to this volume put such a cooperation into practice and present not only academic articles, but also interviews, short stories, poems, and political essays. Readers will encounter the ›climatic subject‹ as an entity and as a historical force. But they will also hear the ›climatic subject‹ posed as a question, a displacement of subjectivation under the condition of the climate crisis. Finally, they will find the ›climatic subject‹ as a connector for new subjectivities yet to be embodied in cultural practice
Central European Presidents, Prime Ministers, and War
This open access book provides an in-depth exploration of how presidents, prime ministers, and their cabinets manage relationships and make decisions in times of international crises. The authors focus particularly on war and its effect on executive dualism and presidential activism. This systematic analysis concentrates on four Central European countries – Poland, Czechia, Hungary, and Slovakia – and examines the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian war, as well as earlier conflicts: the Kosovo crisis (1999), the Iraq War (2003), the Russo-Georgian War (2008), and Russia’s annexation of Crimea and the emergence of separatist “republics” in eastern Ukraine (2014). All these conflicts had a major political impact on the political landscape of Central Europe, often empowering presidents, who represent the state externally and influence foreign and security policies
Corporate Accountability for Human Rights Violations
This edited volume is the first collection to critically explore the role, limitations, and internal fragmentation of social activism for corporate accountability across Africa, the Americas, Asia, and Europe. It analyses a variety of NGOs, trade unions, and grassroots movements and their transnational mobilizations for holding accountable business actors involved in human rights violations and environmental degradation. The book emphasizes the diverse visions and strategies extolled by these civic actors: from civil and criminal litigations, efforts to prohibit and punish business misconduct through national and international legislation, to boycotts, and memorialization projects. By adopting an actor-focused perspective and examining their national and transnational activism, the collection provides an innovative perspective across three main themes: civil society and social movements as key drivers of corporate accountability efforts; the fragmentation of the global corporate accountability movement across ontological, ideological, regional, and professional lines; the Janus-faced paradigm of transnational activism for corporate accountability. The volume argues that corporate accountability coalitions are successful especially when social actors form alliances across borders and professional sectors. Such transnational and intersectoral engagements create counter-hegemonic discourses against corporate impunity, push for more inclusive justice projects, and multiply spaces and ideas of accountability. Yet, civil societies and social movements themselves are fragmenting over the meaning, scope, and tactics of corporate accountability due to different local, national and regional contexts, ideological variations regarding human rights and economic development, and diverse professional understandings of accountability processes.
Precision Medicine in Africa: Promises and Opportunities
The relevance of genomic medicine embodies using an individual's genomics and molecular genetic information to personalize treatment and predict drug response to ensure safer and more cost-effective therapies. An African framework for implementing genomic medicine was recently developed to highlight the elements required within the African context and provide some recommendations on how African countries can work on putting them in place by building on existing infrastructure. These measures would enable resource-limited countries to implement appropriate genomics-based health-related interventions, drawing on experiences from elsewhere but adapting to the African context where necessary. In developing the framework, the existing genomic medicine activities in Africa were investigated. This book aims to describe the current status of precision medicine and discuss the clinical studies related to precision medicine that have been conducted on African populations to improve healthcarein Africa. This book comprises three sections: infectious diseases, non-communicable diseases, and bioinformatics tools and resources. Each section is covered in several chapters, each dealing with a specific disease or group of diseases together with the necessary formalism. Based on existing literature, the collection summarizes Africa's state of the art of genomics and precision medicine activities. The book is helpful for researchers, clinicians, and policymakers; the secondary audience is students, funders, and healthcare staff. This is an open access book
