Risteilyelämyksen suunnittelu lapsiperheille koronarajoitteiden aikana : case: Tallink Silja Oy
Tämän opinnäytetyön tavoitteena oli tutkia, miten risteilyelämys suunnitellaan lapsiperheille ottaen huomioon koronaepidemian aikaiset rajoitukset ja ohjeistukset. Tutkimus tehtiin Silja Serenadella syyskuussa 2020, viimeisellä risteilyllä ennen koronaepidemian takia tiukentuneita matkustusrajoituksia. Opinnäytetyön aihe tuli hyvin ajankohtaiseksi koronaepidemian aikana.
The objective of this Bachelor’s thesis was to investigate how a cruise experience can be planned for families with children, considering the limitations and guidelines during the COVID-19 epidemic. The survey was conducted at Silja Serenade in September 2020, on the last cruise before the travel restrictions due to the COVID-19 epidemic were introduced. The topic of the thesis naturally came up during the pandemic and because the author of the thesis is working on board with families and programs.
The main target group of the cruise service in this study were families with children. The thesis examined which procedures the company Tallink Silja Oy has followed to adapt to the changing circumstances caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, and how it has succeeded in these actions. It was important to research the expectations of families before the cruise and what in general is important for the families in relation to the pandemic, as well to map possible development suggestions.
The topics of the theoretical framework are the operating environment of a cruise, experientialism, the customer experience, family tourism with children, tourism safety and hygiene, and the use of space. The thesis data were collected through an interview study with families with children and with the staff. The interview material was supplemented by observations during the cruise. The purpose was to scrutinize different perspectives of both cruise guests and staff on the planning of the cruise experience and its success.
The results show what procedures Tallink Silja Oy has taken due to the COVID-19 pandemic so that customers and staff could cruise safely on the waves of the Baltic Sea. The study also provided comprehensive information on customers’ wishes and needs on cruises during the pandemic. The customers were very satisfied with the cruise and therefore there were not many suggestions for improvement. It can therefore be stated that the cruise corresponded well to the company’s planning. The themes that emerged from the study were safety, hygiene, services, use of space, program on board, prior knowledge of corona pandemic and families’ own responsibility

Cell Communication and Signaling / The functional interplay of Helicobacter pylori factors with gastric epithelial cells induces a multi-step process in pathogenesis
Infections with the human pathogen Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) can lead to severe gastric diseases ranging from chronic gastritis and ulceration to neoplastic changes in the stomach. Development and progress of H. pylori-associated disorders are determined by multifarious bacterial factors. Many of them interact directly with host cells or require specific receptors, while others enter the host cytoplasm to derail cellular functions. Several adhesins (e.g. BabA, SabA, AlpA/B, or OipA) establish close contact with the gastric epithelium as an important first step in persistent colonization. Soluble H. pylori factors (e.g. urease, VacA, or HtrA) have been suggested to alter cell survival and intercellular adhesions. Via a type IV secretion system (T4SS), H. pylori also translocates the effector cytotoxin-associated gene A (CagA) and peptidoglycan directly into the host cytoplasm, where cancer- and inflammation-associated signal transduction pathways can be deregulated. Through these manifold possibilities of interaction with host cells, H. pylori interferes with the complex signal transduction networks in its host and mediates a multi-step pathogenesis.Gernot Posselt, Steffen Backert and Silja Wessle

A novel basolateral type IV secretion model for the CagA oncoprotein of Helicobacter pylori
In The Hermeneutic Conversation as Epistemological Model (FREUDENBERGER, 2003), Silja Freudenberger indicates similarities between Gadamerian hermeneutics and Anglo-Saxon feminist epistemology. In this text, it seems appropriate to attribute to the author the hypothesis that the approaches of both streams of thought display parallels that should be observed for understanding the – largely negative – reception of the first within the philosophical literature developed in alignment with the second. Under the assumption that this hypothesis is a key guideline for the development of Freudenberger's text, this effort is dedicated to reconstructing and critically analysing the argumentative path followed by the author. The motivation for carrying out this task is, first, making the solidity of a surprisingly marginal position in a certain region of feminist philosophical literature visible – namely, that according to which there is no necessary incompatibility between feminist thought and the guidelines central to Gadamer's hermeneutics; and, additionally, presenting certain remarks of historical and contextual nature that explain, to a certain extent, the marginal status of this position.
